The Love Theorem by Camilla Isley - A STEMinist Romantic Comedy Novel

Camilla is an engineer who left science behind to enter the whimsical realm of romantic fiction.

She writes contemporary rom-coms. Her characters have big hearts, might be a little stubborn at times, and love to banter with each other. Every story she pens has a guaranteed HEA that will make your heart beat faster. Unless you're a vampire, of course.

Camilla is a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading—duh!—cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies—popcorn, please. She's a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn't want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.

My Review:

As with every single Camilla Isley book I’ve read, this was a fun and entertaining read, I adore her clever wit and wry humor. Her writing is crisp, engaging, and easy to fall into. I enjoyed the amusing storylines as much as I did the characters; they were a feisty and smart bunch with snappy banter and undeniable chemistry while indulging in a secret and red-hot fling during a destination wedding in wine country.

Sweet and steamy! Camilla Isley has fast become a must-read author of mine. Her stories are packed with delightful characters, gorgeous settings, clever banter, and sizzling chemistry. ThisIs the sixth book in the”First Comes Love” series, but it can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone. Although reading the fourth and fifth book will definitely get you in the mood for this book. Additionally both of those books were really good! We met Winter and Logan in the last book and now they are getting married. Summer, Winter‘s twin sister is not to excited about this wedding. She now has to face the past as well as her friends who have cut her out of their lives after she made a pretty major mistake. Archibald is Logan‘s best friend and the best man. He is a bit of a player. He was introduced to us in the previous book, I have to admit I was excited that he was getting his own story. SO of course pariah summer and bad boy Archibald end up hooking up. Summer and Archibald know this is not going to make the bride and groom very happy so they attempt to keep their relationship hush-hush throughout the week of wedding events. This book was just straight up fun and hot! Summer and Archibald had some big-time sizzle. I also love revisiting characters from previous books and all the fun events leading up to the big day. There was a touch of tension throughout the book. I was keeping my fingers crossed hoping that this couple could make things work, but I was also worried about how everyone was going to react. The perfect way to spend a summer day!

*** Big thank you to the author for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***

A wedding, a handsome best man, a pact for seven nights of no-strings-attached fun... What could go wrong?

Available now wherever books are sold...

My favorite part about these characters... Archie is sexy as hell but a cuddly bear at heart. And Summer, it's weird to say this, but I loved her because she's flawed. She's committed the capital sin, and yet, I couldn't help loving her and wanting to finally bring a HEA for her.

You may kiss the bridesmaid is #6 in First Comes Love series by Camilla Isley.

This book made me really uncomfortable ngl. I liked Summer and Archie's romance but it was so so difficult to root for a character who cheated on her best friend by sleeping with her boyfriend. I wish this was not such a vital part of the plot.

Archie and Summer connected well, I even liked reading about their building connection and the sexcapades in the hotel. The yoga lessons were pure angst and them always sneaking away was a huge fun factor. Plus the whole wedding theme setting of the book made it really festive and happy.

BUT the cheating was such a turn off and I couldn't just look away from the fact. Added to this was how qickly Archie went from fearing commitment to realising he wants to spend his life with Summer. There was no strong argument supporting this shift which made it very abrupt and kinda unbelievable.

This story either needed to me more fleshed out to give the characters room to grow or there shouldn't have been these many points to resolve.

2 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a lovely and heartwarming rom-com book! Is it a love story? Yes, but it is so much more! It's about having the strength to overcome your past mistakes, seeking forgiveness from others and giving yourself permission to forgive yourself. I did not realize that this book was part of a series when I received the arc. However, this book can be read as a stand alone and I had no issues. I loved the book so much!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Summer Knowles did the unimaginable when she had a past affair (previous book) with her best friend's boyfriend. Because of her indiscretion, Summer has lost most of her friends and her relationship with her family is a struggle. Therefore, she has sworn off all men and plans to stay single forever! Now Summer has to participate in a week long wedding celebration with her family and ex-friends because her twin sister, Winter, is getting married. Consequently, she is not sure how in the world she will survive this week!?! When Archibald Hill, philanderer and best man, shows up and offers her a no strings attached week together, Summer wonders if this the perfect distraction she need to get through the week. Ultimately, what starts out as a week of fun turns into something more along the way.

Knowing what she did was wrong, Summer felt she did not deserve forgiveness. The personal growth she went through was amazing and it lead to redemption and a second chance for her. I loved seeing Archie fall in love and want more for the first time in his life. Their connection was a bit insta-love and seemed kinda fast due to it all taking place over the course of a week. However, the tension and chemistry was off the charts!

Overall, the author does a wonderful job making the characters feel real and relatable that you can't help but root for them. I was completely captivated from start to finish! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As I share with you this, my honest review.

Original 2020 review: Twins Summer and Winter Knowles used to be the closest of friends, until Summer made a mistake that estranged her from her family who don't seem able to forget or forgive her. Now Winter is getting married and Summer is expected to attend and be a bridesmaid, but Summer is dreading the condemning looks, nasty comments and being ostracised by her former friends. She understands why it will happen, but still dreads the entire experience though she knows she has to support her twin. What makes it worse is that this isn't just a wedding day, it is a week of events leading up to the big day. . . . . After hearing some of her former best friends discussing her, Summer takes refuge by going to the room of the best man, Archibald Hill, who had propositioned and been turned down by her earlier. Archie is something of a playboy. He has a reputation as a love them and leave them man who never takes relationships seriously . . . . A match made in heaven or hell? Whatever happens the bride will go ballistic at the both when she finds out!!

This is a rom com with plenty of drama, lots of laughs and even more hot encounters. It is an engaging read which can be read as a standalone even though it is the sixth book in the 'First Comes Love' series. That series title didn't necessarily appear appropriate for this particular book as the acknowledgement of love comes at the end, not at the beginning when lust and desire have precedence! It is a steamy romance with plenty of angst as Summer's Mum and previous friends seem determined to keep punishing Summer and won't forget what happened, even though the lovely victim of what happened, Lana, has definitely moved on and is friendly and supportive of Summer. In fact, Lana is definitely one of my favourite characters in the story. With the two main characters assuming this is just a secret relationship for a week, what will happen after the wedding week ends? You'll have to read it for yourself to find out!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Who would have thought that this book would be my favorite book in this series? Definitely not me. The whole cheating plot from two books before was still in my head and I’m honest, I was prepared to give Summer zero chances to win me over. Somewhere along the way though, I had to cave in and just enjoy reading this book.

The story seemed way more steamier than the other books in this series. Archie is a notorious womanizer and his fling with Summer starts out as a friends/ acquaintance with benefits type of thing. She needs something to get her mind off the wedding and everyone in the wedding party judging her for her cheating scandal and he just wants a week full of fun. But what starts out as fun turns into something more along the way.

This story was really cute and the characters were great. I loved watching them fall for each other and even though it’s not realistic that someone like Archie, who’s scared of commitment, makes a 180° change within a week, it worked in this book. At least for me. Like I said, Summer grew on me and I did like her, she understood what she did wrong and didn’t want anyone’s forgiveness, she knew she didn’t deserve that and that made her not only more likable but also showed some strong character growth and I’m all here for that.

This was the third book of Camilla’s that I buddy read in June. The previous two we struggled to keep to the schedule so jokingly I suggested for this one *day 1 – whole book. That is exactly what we did though and it’s testament to how engaging her books are.

This can be read as a standalone as previous goings on are explained but in my opinion you would be missing out on two great books. So read them all!!!

I liked Archie’s humour and playfulness in Love Quest so couldn’t wait to see what he would get up to in this. I confess out of the three male leads he was both mine and my buddy readers favourite.

I really felt for Summer, although now lying in the lumpy bed she made for herself, after sleeping with someone she shouldn’t have. I could feel her struggle at having to put on a brave face when everyone knew what she had done. Archie was just the tonic and all the gin that a girl needs but unfortunately for Summer her sister completely disagrees, knowing his playboy antics and her desire for a loving relationship.

However there is nothing quite like the thrill of a chase and this book tantalises and teases just as much as Summer does to Archie. I really can’t recommend these books enough and I’m already desperate for the next one.

Romance, banter, returning characters and happy ever afters are this readers fairytale.

Summer and Archie meet during a one week Napa wedding, between wine tastings and rehearsal dinners they become fast friends.
Summer is her sister's bridesmaid and she really needs a friend because almost every guest hate her after her past mistake. Archie is the perfect companion to make her forget everything else but him.

I've really enjoyed their journey. They are nothing alike. Archie just stay in the present, never thinking about the future, unlike him Summer thinks a lot about the future and she likes to plan ahead of time.
Their banters and acro yoga scenes are really entertaining, and the chemistry and the attraction they share will keep you glued to book.

You May Kiss the Bridesmaid is the sixth story in the First Comes Love series and while it can be absolutely read as a stand alone I recommend to also read the previous two books because they are 5 stars read for me, I loved them all.

Where has this series been? How am I just now reading it? Fortunately it is one you don’t have to start at the beginning, but now I need to go back and read at least the two that are very directly related to this story, and probably I’ll need to go all the way back to the beginning of this series as well. I think that I’ve found a new author to fangirl over! This story was hilarious and such a page-turner!

Yes Archie was the usual commitment-phobe male love interest that you see so often in both real life and romances. But I feel like the author made him come around, realize that he wanted more this time, in such a realistic non-hurried, non-sudden way that it just worked so well. And while Summer definitely had very good reason to be cautious and only say okay to a casual, no strings-attached, one week fling, her feelings developed also in a realistic way. Not only that, I think the way Summer handled the casualness of it, and dealing with not letting it get too far out of hand was perfect.

The way the book begins is also something new to romance stories, but something that I kind of wish I’d done, or that I can totally see being done more often these days.

While the author gets you so in the mood and you can feel the physical tension and want between the two, I was disappointed in the fade to black, next chapter-next morning, no actual bedroom scene. I get it, not everyone likes those scenes as much as I do, and it didn’t make the story any less wonderful, that is just why on my blog rating as opposed to other reviews, I’ve marked it down to a 4.5 stars.

Highly recommend this one, get it as soon as you can!

This is book 6 in Camilla Isley’s First Comes Love series. I haven’t listened to all of these these or in order, but Isley gives enough background so that it stands well on its own. There are some slight spoilers to other books though - so they’re best enjoyed in order.

I have to admit, I didn’t think I’d be able to root for a MC with a past of having an affair with her best friend’s boyfriend. However, I liked that Summer was truly remorseful and had reconciled with the friend. Unfortunately, not everyone at her sister’s wedding is so forgiving. Hooking up with best man Archie doesn’t seem the healthiest way to deal with all the stress, but they both go in knowing it’s short term.

As things go in the just-sex-to-more trope (one of my favs) - they both start to catch feelings. It’s easy to see that it’s more than attraction as they banter, do yoga, send flirty texts, and spend every night together. Isley is good at making closed door romance really sexy.

As the book only spans the wedding week, it’s insta love and ends abruptly on a HFN. I would have loved a little more from Archie’s POV and maybe even an epilogue, but the couple’s stories tend to continue in subsequent books - so I’m sure I’ll catch more Summer and Archie soon.

Narration:
I already love Cynthia Farrell’s narrations and this was no exception. She has a broad range of voices for all the characters and emotions. I also like that she does the chapters from Archie’s perspective in a slightly lower register. Great listen.

Summer has had horrible luck with men and is taking a break from dating. Archie is a renowned bachlor only looking for fun. When they meet at Summer's sister's wedding sparks fly but do they have long-term potential?

Summer was the "villain" in The Love Theorem after sleeping with her best friend's boyfriend. I love a redemption story, and I was interested to see how this would play out. This book is the perfect mixture of forgiveness and atonement that makes you fall in love with her. While I don't agree with her actions (and neither does she), I dont feel like one action should define a person forever. She showed growth and was therefore open to her own happiness. Her and Archie seem like an unlikely duo at first, but their chemistry is undeniable. The pace was good in the beginning but seemed a bit rushed at the end since they jumped right into "I love yous." Overall, this was a nice addition to the series, and I ended up loving Summer and her story.

Ever had to attend a wedding that you didn't want to go to? Try being the one that everyone considers the evil twin to the bride and being in the wedding while knowing that everyone there hates you! What's a girl to do? Anything and everything, but hookup with the best man, right!?! Yeah, failed that too! A fun rom com about overcoming beliefs and moving on to the next phase of life. While this book does deal with some serious emotions, the witty banter and fun interactions are what makes this book the fun read that it is! This is the 3rd in a series and it just gets better and better! I would recommend reading The Love Theorem, then Love Quest before reading this one as each book builds onto the next one and the backstory presented in each book is the foundation for the next book. Added bonus is triple the entertainment! This author is quickly becoming one that I turn to when I want a fun quick read!

You May Kiss the Bridesmaid was sweet and sizzling romcom that revolved around Summer and Archie’s love story. It was about forgiveness, moving on in life leaving the past mistakes behind, overcoming the commitment phobia, friendship, family, and love.

All characters were developed, realistic and fun to read. Romance between Summer and Archie was hot and steamy. I enjoyed their dirty talk, flirting game, conversations and secret hook ups. I loved seeing both of them transform and glow with their growing feelings, how they realised this was not just one week fling and wanted more than what they decided.

Climax was both tense and fun. Serious talk, making things clear on what they wanted out of all these, Archie’s development, long awaited conversation between Summer, Winter, and their mother was best part in the book. I loved the wedding scene and how thing worked out between Summer and Archie. It was perfect end.

Overall, You May Kiss the Bridesmaid was quick read with lovely characters and blush inducing romance, a total escape, pure entertainment and perfect and feel good romcom. I highly recommend this book.

3.5⭐️ rounded up. This is just a fun, cute and relatively short book to breeze through at the pool this summer. I listened to the audio, which had 2 narrators - always a plus!

Summer’s twin sister Winter (yes, those are their names) is getting married. Summer has been demoted to bridesmaid (she’s not MOH) due to a messy affair she had with their best friend’s boyfriend in a previous book. Summer made a mistake in having the affair but she is generally a type A personality. The negative attention has sworn her off relationships.

Enter Archie. Archie is the commitment-phobe best man and he and Summer have instant chemistry. Summer wants an escape from the dark cloud over her. They have 1 week at a hotel together for the wedding for a no-strings-attached relationship. But what happens when her sister finds out about they are sneaking around? And what happens when their time at the wedding festivities comes to an end?

Review originally posted on my blog: I Heart Fictional People

INITIAL THOUGHTS

Cute chick lit cover! Yes please! And written by Camilla Isley? You’re damn right I’m reading this one! I read A Sudden Crush a few years ago, and I loved it! So, I got super excited to read another one of her books.

WHAT I LIKED

Relatable and likable characters. Summer made a really selfish, horrible mistake in her past, and she has beat herself up about it ever since. Even though some people have forgiven her, others have not. I can personally relate to this, and I think a lot of us can as well. We’re human. We make mistakes. We are not perfect. Summer is just trying to move on with her life. I admire her for showing up at this wedding, ready to face everyone. I also really liked Lana for being such a good friend and being so forgiving. She’s a good person, far better than most. And I love how protective Winter is of her sister. No matter what she has done, she has her back and doesn’t want her to get hurt.

The writing. It’s no surprise that I liked the writing since I’m already a fan of the author. I love the back and forth viewpoints between Summer and Archie. And I LOVE first-person POV, so I very much appreciated that! I like being in the characters’ heads. It makes it more personal.

The premise. I really love the idea of someone trying to move on from her past and meeting someone unexpectedly. She’s clearly suffering from a lot of guilt, and she doesn’t think she deserves or is going to find love. That definitely has the potential to be a beautiful romance.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR ME

All about sex. Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not a prude. And I get that relationships can commonly start off this way. BUT for more than half the book, it was all about sex. I didn’t feel any emotions from either character, so it was hard to see more than just a physical connection. I wanted to see more romance. And then all of sudden, there was love…which brings me to my next point…

Way too fast-paced. It started off as pure physical attraction and nothing more. Then, all of a sudden, everyone is in love with everyone. I was like, wait, what? What just happened? Everything, for the main characters and even the supporting characters, just happened way too quickly, so it wasn’t all that realistic for me.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Let me start off by saying that I have not read the rest of this series, and from what I have read, each book can be read as a stand-alone, which is why I jumped into it. However, I expect that I may have felt differently about this book if I read the others first. I wanted to love this book. I went into it with such high hopes. I liked it. I just expected to like it more. The memorable, lovable characters definitely stood out to me, and I am definitely interested in reading their stories. But this one was just too much too fast. I do love Camilla Isley though, so I will most certainly read more from her!

I listened to the audiobook of YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDESMAID, bk 6 in Camilla Isley’s “First Comes Love” series, nicely narrated by Cynthia Farrell. This is a HFN RomCom, not a HEA.

MY RATING GUIDE: 2.5-3 Stars. This was an okay story but I didn’t really connect with either the “Player” MMC nor the FMC. Perhaps I wasn’t the correct demographic.
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= NOPE; NOT REALLY FOR ME; 3= THIS WAS CUTE; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

Several months after bk 5, FROM THAILAND WITH LOVE/LOVE QUEST.
Napa Valley, the week of Winter & Logan’s (bk5) wedding ~

Summer Knowles is Winter’s (bk 5) identical twin. Nearly a year ago Summer made a poor choice which reverberated through her friend circle. The issue is now in the past but attending Winter’s wedding with their old friends judging her is going to be unpleasant. For the next 7 days, Summer plans to paint a smile and simply do her best for her sister.

Archibald is a total player and best friend and professional colleague of Logan Spencer, the groom. Archie and Logan have known each other since college days. Although Archie has no plans to shackle himself into marriage anytime soon, he really likes the bride-to-be Winter and wishes the best for the two of them. When Archie discovers Winter’s identical twin, Summer, is both lovely and receptive to having a short-term affair during the week of the wedding festivities, he is relieved. The week won’t be a complete waste of time after all. But can the time the two spend together remain all fun and games, or is someone going to get hurt?

Comments ~ (possible spoilers?)
1) YMKTB was light in content (not much depth) with flirty and sexy scenes intermixed with angst in between. It ended (rather abruptly) with a HFN - probably the best outcome possible after only 7 days with a “serial hook-up guy “ like the MMC.
2) I don’t generally buy/read fiction about Players and such (who are actually proud of it) but YMKTB came as part of a book set. I’m simply not interested.
3) YMKTB is bk6 in a series with a group of friends, each person becoming the MC in the next book. (Young) readers who like discovering what happens in the lives of the various friends in a group (Sex in the City fans?) may find more enjoyment in YMKTB than I.
4) I enjoyed bk 5 (the previous book) in this series, FROM THAILAND WITH LOVE/LOVE QUEST, the most and gave it 4 Stars. It had an entirely different vibe, reminding me of the 1984 Classic vid with Kathleen Turner & Michael Douglas “Romancing the Stone.”

READER CAUTION ~
PROFANITY - None that I recall.
VIOLENCE - None.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Innuendo and closed door.

I’ve read the two previous books in the series and I think you love the characters more. It’s hard to like Summer for the cheating hoe that she is. And then you learn more about her cheating ways and there is just no come back after that. I didn’t care to see her find love, but this is a quick read and gives you insight to the 4th novel (*LIES, just started the 4th and I thought it’d be Penny and Tucker) and is the only reason I finished this one. I did like Archie, the main male character however (he gets my two stars). Too bad he ended up with Summer.

*There is no reason then to read this one.

Also side note, First Comes Love and The One are two separate Isley series, not the same one as Goodreads says.

Okay, so I’m finding that even though a lot of Isley’s books are marked as “XX in a series” they don’t really have to be read together or in order per say. However, that being said, Then Comes Marriage box set is probably best purposed when read in the correct order (1. To the Stars and Back 2. From Thailand with Love 3. This book we’ve reviewing)

The boxset is actually what I listened to and notably if you use Chirp (I’m not sure about other platforms) the entire audio chapter list goes from 1 to, like, 55. Sure the audio breaks apart the stories but the tracks never line up to the narrator. For me, this final book in this sub trilogy (because they’re all actually in the First Comes Love collection as well) is my least favorite.

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to like our MC Summer at all after completely choosing fictional sides in the first book. In the end I don’t think I didn’t like her exactly, I just wasn’t as invested in her story. That being said, all the things you love about an Isley book was here so it’s not an unenjoyable experience it’s just an “Eh, three stars” shrug of the shoulders.

What I’m really interested in knowing (and perhaps this proves my disconnect further since they were like second side characters lol)— but is there a book about Pepper and Tucker?? if there is someone please link me to it because THAT WOULD BE WONDERFUL. Can you tell Pepper made a real impression on me in the first book? 😂

So yeah, in a series where order isn’t necessary and a trilogy where it’s recommended, I’d honestly just skip this last one if you’re not really interested in Summers story. Cause I mean, we all know it’ll work out in the end anyway.🤷🏻‍♀️

3 stars.

"The Love Proposal" by Camilla Isley is mostly adorable, very predictable, and easily digestible read. It's not the best book I have ever read, but it's good enough. Though it is part of a series, it is an interconnected standalone, so you can read it by itself, but I probably would have benefitted from having read the previous texts to get a sense of the writing style, characters, etc. I thought the two main characters here, Summer and Archie, were a decent fit together. Their connection begins very quickly, and I would have liked a little more time to get to know them as individuals before they got together. They flirt a lot and have great banter with one another during their supposed-to-be-one-week-fling-even-though-we-know-it-will-not-just-be-for-a-week. Still, some of their actions were juvenile and a little silly and dated. I hated how most of Summer's plot revolved almost exclusively around her cheating in a previous relationship. She feels bad about it and spends the entire book making up for it, but also sort of makes excuses for it at times, specifically early on??? I guess that's how I interpreted it, but others might see it differently. She basically has no characteristics apart from having been a cheater at one point. I couldn't recall any other details about her in this moment, and I just finished the book last night I absolutely hated the yoga scenes and think they brought the book to a screeching halt every single time one of them happens (and there are A LOT of them). All in all, this could have been worse. It's fine, though a bit unmemorable.

PS: Does Camilla Isley have a foot....well, you know...obsession? Both of the books I have read penned by her heavily involve feet or shoes in some way, in great detail... a girl's gotta wonder.

Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley, and Boldwood Books for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Having met Archie in the previous book and Summer has been referenced at least in the previous two books in the series, it is wonderful to finally have them staring in their own story.

This though can easily be read as standalone, I've read the whole series and didn't know that much about Archie and Summer before reading this book, and certainly not as well as I do now.

What is clear though is that they have chemistry that is off the charts, and from their first meeting I was almost needing a fan to cool myself off, I had a feeling they would be that hot, if they indeed sleep together. And let's just say I was right!!

I loved the chemistry and connection between our leads, one is a ladies man who is a bit of a commitment-phobe, the other has been dreading this week, due to having to see all her old friends who have since shunned her after she made a terrible mistake. But it's Summer's twin sister, Winter's wedding, so she is willing to grin and bear it just for her. While Archie is Logan's best man, and isn't that keen on weddings himself!

The chapters alternate from both viewpoints, so we really get to know what our romantic leads are thinking before each other. The scenes featuring acro yoga were brilliant and I really enjoyed all the various activities that went into the wedding week in Napa.

I was totally invested in Archie and Summer, and couldn't' get enough of them, I was thoroughly entertained by this book, and impressed that yet again Camilla Isley has written such fabulous romance which characters I could almost reach out and touch (or in Archie's case I ma have wanted to do a whole lot more to!).

Thank you to the author for this cop which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

The Love Proposal by Camilla Isley

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

The moment you stop looking, that’s when Prince Charming will come knocking on your door!

Summer Knowles does not want a boyfriend. Relationships have caused enough problems in her life. As bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding, she’s going to avoid all things romantic – especially the brawny, hipster best-man who has commitment-phobe written all over him!

When Archie Hill meets Summer, he immediately thinks bridesmaid-and-best-man-with-benefits! They have one week together and may as well make the most of it. But what if one week just isn’t enough…

As wedding fever takes hold, can a sworn-off-men bridesmaid and a die-hard bachelor learn a thing or two about happy-ever-after?

My Opinion

Please note that this title was originally published as You May Kiss the Bridesmaid.

So far I have enjoyed reading about these characters - the books are linked by characters but they can all be enjoyed as standalones. Summer has a lot of making up to do following her mistakes in The Love Theorem, now that we get to read her book is she going to make up for them? This is a quick and cute read. Perfect for when a quick distraction is needed.

I know what to expect when I pick up a Camilla Isley book and this was no exception.

"The Love Proposal" by Camilla Isley is a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy that perfectly fits the friends-with-benefits, wedding date trope. The story follows Summer Knowles, who has sworn off relationships, and Archie Hill, a die-hard bachelor with commitment issues. As they find themselves as the bridesmaid and best man at Summer's sister's wedding, they decide to make the most of their week together with a friends-with-benefits arrangement.

Despite their initial agreement to keep things casual, Summer and Archie can't help but be drawn to each other during the wedding festivities. As wedding fever takes hold, they find themselves learning more about each other and developing a deeper connection. But with their no-strings-attached rule, they must navigate their feelings and the fear of falling for each other.

Filled with witty banter, charming moments, and a dose of wedding romance, "The Love Proposal" is a heartwarming and humorous read that explores the journey of two people who never expected to find love at a wedding. As they discover the joys of being together, readers will be rooting for Summer and Archie to find their happy-ever-after amidst the wedding celebrations.

If you enjoy rom-coms that blend love, humor, and the excitement of a wedding, "The Love Proposal" is the perfect book for you. It will leave you with a smile on your face and a warm feeling in your heart as you follow the delightful and entertaining love story of Summer and Archie.

So I was lucky enough to read From Thailand with Love earlier this year, and was excited when I discovered that You May Kiss The Bridesmaid was due to be released as the next in the series. As you know, I love a series where we get to revisit characters, but I also love learning more about characters we have only briefly met. In You May Kiss The Bridesmaid we get to finally meet Summer Knowles, twin sister of Winter. We already know that Winter and Summers relationship has been fragile, so she is the perfect character for us to learn more about. We met Archibald Hill back in Thailand - he's loveable and clearly a great friend to Logan but he has a reputation for being a womaniser.

Summer Winter is dreading her sisters wedding. After she made the monumental mistake of having an affair with her best friends boyfriend, she tore apart her friendship group and her twin sister stopped talking to her. Now both Winter and Lana, her best friend, have forgiven her but it doesn't mean the rest of her friends are quite so forgiving. She hasn't seen any of them since the affair, and she doesn't want to see them now. She has lived with the shame of what she did, and she has now sworn off men. She'll do whatever it takes to get through Winter's wedding.

Archie is looking forward to his best man duties at Logan's wedding. He loves Winter, and thinks they are a great match. Plus he knows there are always single ladies at a wedding! What he doesn't expect is to meet Summer - she might look like Winter but they couldn't be more different. It's a good job they are both only looking for some fun until the wedding is over...

I really enjoyed From Thailand With Love, and I am more than happy to say the same about You May Kiss The Bridesmaid. It is a light, easy read full of romance with a little bit of drama thrown in for good measure. Whilst Summer might have previously cheated, it is clear she is both embarrassed and mortified by her previous behaviour, so it was good to watch a character behave in such a grown-up way, putting her sisters feeling before her own by attending the wedding. Archie is already a character that I loved, so it was great to spend some time following him specifically.

All in all this a great book, and I am more that happy to recommend it to you. If you're lucky enough to be getting away this year then it'll be a fab beach read, but if like me its all about the staycation for you, then this will be a great book to read with a glass of wine whilst sunning yourself in your garden!

Thanks to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Summer isn't exactly looking forward to her sister's wedding. Her past has made her a social pariah and to be fair she has a lot going on in her private life anyway. She has sworn off men for good, maybe for a while at least. Until she meets the best man that is, then all bets are off when it comes to having a good time.

Archie thinks the groom is the luckiest guy in the world to be marrying the girl of his dreams. He is even a tad jealous, so a little distraction during the wedding week is exactly the right thing to keep him occupied.

The casual hook-up between Archie and Summer turns into something a little more when their secret trysts are discovered. Then fun becomes more serious and the thought of an adult relationship with the responsibilities that come with it drives a wedge between the two of them.

I kind of felt sorry for Summer. Everyone makes mistakes - should they be able to redeem themselves or get a second chance. Does it depend on the crime or the mistake? Does Summer deserve to be treated like a pariah, despite the fact the person she hurt the most has moved on and also forgiven her.

It's a delightful romcom, an amusing and yet sweet story at times. This series reminds me of work by Sarah Morgan. Fun-filled romance with moments of breathless passion, complicated emotions and people who are made for each other.
