Karol Ladd in her new book, "A Woman's Passionate Pursuit Of God" published by Harvest House gives us an in-depth study of Philippians to help us create a positive and purposeful life..
Ever study Paul's letter to the Philippians? I mean really study it? Most of us have not. Sure we have read it a few times can quote verses from it but do we really understand what Paul is writing about and why he wrote it in the first place? I hate to admit it but I could not answer yes to all those questions and they are my questions? Can you imagine that? Really sad.
Karol Ladd has done us a favor and has done the work for us. Yes, the title of the book is directed to women but I assure you that men can read this book as well and benefit from it just as much. Paul was not writing to a specific gender so we can get in on this. Ms. Ladd starts the book off with how Paul came to the city of Philippi, the individuals he met, good and bad and the events he and Silas had to endure while they were there. This way Chapter One sets the stage for her analysis of the letter which was written ten years later.
Chapter by chapter Ms. Ladd shows us what Paul was expressing to the Church at Philippi: Diamonds Formed Through Difficulties, Living Your Life With Passion And Purpose, Getting Rid Of Garbage To Gain What Is Priceless, Change Your Thinking And Change Your Life and more. Karol Ladd is a terrific teacher and she really has an understanding of what she is writing about.
In my opinion everyone needs this book. I know I sure did and do. I will read this book again and again because I need to be reminded of God's great love often and this book will do it every time. I recommend it highly. I have to say that Ms. Ladd is an excellent Bible teacher and I am going to go out and acquire all of her previous books and be ready for all her new ones simply because she is that good.

A Woman's Passionate Pursuit of God—Creating a Positive & Purposeful Life by Karol Ladd took me several months to get through because I was reading it for a ladies Bible Study that met just once a month. I finally just went ahead and finished it out. It is actually sort of a commentary on the book of Philippians. It has study questions in the back for use in group Bible studies in addition to the reflective thought questions at the end of each chapter. I particularly liked that the author includes chapter summaries of the main points following each chapter to easily find main points.
After reading this book, I am going to make an effort to more gentle to all. That is the chapter that spoke to me the most. Although I liked her other book better, The Power of a Positive Woman, I would recommend this one too. It has a lot of good advice and interesting examples.

For a book that claims to be a study of Philippians, there seemed to be very little about that book of the Bible. The author uses other passages/stories and many real world examples to make her points. In the end, I think it is a study of the themes of Philippians without the constant references to chapter and verse. I thought this book was very contemporary and useful.

This book has some good points, and encourages women to be more active in their faith.
