I won this book via Goodreads giveaway.
DNF - I made it through chapter 8 (64 pages, 27%).
The author is clearly creative. The structure of the magic system was really cool. Some of the descriptions and imagery were really good.
However - this book is just incredibly difficult to read. There is SO much lore and so many characters thrown at you at once that it’s really difficult to wade through. There’s religion and magic and celestial beings and kingdoms (on other planes, through fault cracks? Huh?), references to places and creatures and events and professions and people that are wildly confusing. I’m no stranger to intricate fantasy world building, but this is tough to stay on track with.
Huge pet peeve: there are a lot of misused words in this book and it could use a round of editing. “Quit blithering.” Hardily vs heartily. Wretching vs retching. Everything about this book from the cover to the story is just…much. It crossed the line into obtuse for me, personally. Not into it.

This book was interesting with many moving parts.
It is not a normal read for me but it was good. Ending fell flat in my opinion. Like I said it was a good book.

Really creative and magical world and my first read by this author. I enjoyed the characters and storyline and am looking forward to more!!
