The Villainess Priestess & The Foolish Emperor Rewrite Their Story!
The Wagtail Priestess, Sai, has memories of a previous life, including knowledge about her ill-fated role to be condemned as the “Evil Priestess” in this life. Yet her efforts to resist her cruel destiny as an NPC in an otome game end in vain. Her fiancé is blinded by his love for the Saint, and so is the Order of Holy Knights he commands. Her execution is nigh—until the charming, winged emperor of the neighboring Orient Empire, Haruka, rescues her from the ashes of her former home.
Moved by Haruka’s faith in her, Sai swears to dedicate her life to him and accepts his offer to move to his country, where she takes up residence in an uninhabited, derelict property inside the Imperial the former inner palace. Armed with her powerful magic, extensive knowledge, and memories from her past life, she happily lines up one achievement after another. Exorcism? Product development? Sacred rituals? Leave it to her! She lives a content life, but there’s just one thing...
“Your Majesty, I think people will misunderstand if you order me to attend you every night. I am merely melting you into a breathless mess with my recovery magic, nothing more!”
So begins the tale of a lonely and earnest priestess who creates miracles in her vast, new world, and a beautiful emperor who chuckles in her wake, doting on her every step of the way.
It took me over a month to get 73% of the way through this and that’s with forcing myself to read this.
I wanted to see more of the treatment of the Emperor. We got ONE scene of it and then we are told like ONCE that it was still happening, but SHOW me, don’t TELL me. How am I to believe he feels anything for her when we don’t see her helping him?
This is all daily life after the Wagtail Priestess (over half the book it was “Princess” in my head and it took forever to correct it in my brain) was rescued is just BORING. Building her power base, making cosmetics, being all smart and stuff, no PTSD from how she almost died and her childhood home with all her things burned down.
And we STILL don’t know why the Emperor tried so hard to save her, when that wasn’t part of the “storyline”. And it doesn’t feel very isekai.
The most exciting thing about this book is the title, and it’s not very accurately shown.
2, don’t waste your time or money on this vanilla paint by the numbers attempted isekai money grab, stars.

After 80 pages, I was just dragging myself through this. I'm not sure what specifically wasn't working, but I decided to just call it quits. I have essays to grade and aging parents; I don't have time to read books I don't enjoy.
This was... Ok. Decent, but lacking in substance as a book went. But isn't that why it's considered a 'light' novel?
A number of factors made me rate this as below average.
MC was a selfless character without a sliver of ego. I can understand the justification for this being the environment she came from, but unfortunately it made her came across as a flat character. She had no other motivation or depth beyond being of use to the emperor/ML. To me, it felt like the story would actually be more interesting had the main character been the ML or the ex-minister, which wasn't a good sign.
To enjoy a story, you need a level of suspension of disbelief... The set up of the story was actually very good, I was really looking forward to what would happen next. When she thought of the idea to make cosmetics to generate income I went, yeah, ok, not the first light novel to go down this route, it's pretty standard, I'm ok with that. When she applied magic to her brain to turn it into a pseudo-Excel... That's when my suspension of disbelief jumped off the cliff.
The book as a whole felt like character introductions. It introduced the people, the culture, the customs... Which was not bad, but it hadn't introduced any noteworthy conflict that made me go "I need to read the next book to see how it will get solved".
If you're looking for emotional payoff, maybe wait until more volumes are released. As of the end of the end of this volume, the main cause of the MC's downfall was still living happily.

Wow what an amazing start to a series. I cannot wait to see what happens next. All of the Orient characters and our Watts I'm priestess are amazing. Really dislike the Holy Knights and Saint and am glad they are getting their dues. Can't wait to see how Sai helps our Emperor and The Empire.
I enjoyed this one. There was some interesting world building going on and I look forward to it being expanded upon. The relationship between the Emperor Haruka and Sai is pretty cute, in my opinion. Their interactions are sweet, especially when Haruka encourages Sai to relax and enjoy herself more. I look forward to the next volume.
I have really enjoyed reading this, the characters are fun they’re moving to regional than I was expecting from other light novels and I really enjoyed it! I’m really hoping for a second novel
