Youth Development Theory and Practice: Integrating a Trauma Framework: A Social Justice Approach

Rate this book
This book is written by a licensed Psychologist for non-mental health professionals. Inspiration for the book arose after years of providing training on trauma to afterschool providers in the Youth Development field. Through this work, I have developed a model which not only shares critical information about trauma but also centers staff who work with young people who are impacted by trauma. Staff self-care and organizational care are critical elements highlighted in this book as well as the role of funders in supporting young people impacted by trauma. While sharing information about Youth Development theory, brain development, and practice, this book superimposes a trauma framework around all of it. Offering a framework that combines thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as well as practical skills that can be implemented immediately, young people and staff are supported.
