An Awakening of Desire #4

Commitment to Desire

Rate this book
Aren’t weddings wonderful?

As Victoria Fraser and Abby Mason’s big day draws closer, Bo McKinnon, Victoria’s best woman, asks just that. How can anyone be so certain of another’s love? Most would consider her to be wild and free, some would say untamable, but not Destinee Sonas.

Having joined Victoria and Abby’s household as a cook, the ex-offender is nobody’s fool, or plaything… Not even when they own a castle. If only the same could be said for Freya, Abby’s sister, who has more underwear and secrets than Victoria… (Not Fraser, the other one).

As Bo finds herself being pulled towards an uninterested Destinee, Freya is clearly marking her territory. But as battle commences, not everything is as it seems. Which woman will end up on top? Commitment To Desire is the eagerly anticipated fourth book in the Awakening of Desire series from the best-selling sapphic author Ruby Scott.

A Lesbian romance novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between - Perfect for fans of Anna Stone, Brenda Murphy, and Donna Jay.

I love this series, although this is the worst entry so far.

I’ll get right to the main point:
1) This ended on a cliffhanger which I dislike. There were a LOT of plot elements that were left unresolved and for me the whole novel felt unfinished.
2) The story focused on new characters that we have never seen or heard of before, not our existing protagonists (although they were there, they were not the focus)

This novel was overall fine but just hit different than the previous three. The last three novels felt like different pieces of the same overall storyline, whereas this one felt like a spin-off. I didn’t really connect with the main protagonists, which was unfortunate. Even the writing seemed different (little things like no longer identifying the POV of each chapter and narrating from a LOT of different POV’s).

My main issue is point #1 above though; there was a lot that was started in this novel but most of it wasn’t resolved. There were a lot of questions brought up, but that were not answered. Some people would probably be fine with this, but for me it just failed to deliver.

Of course there were some great parts to this novel. Lots of spicy pieces (although they were shorter than in previous novels). Ill be reading the next one simply because I want to know where the story goes, but I am not sitting around eagerly waiting for it.

My Rating: “B-“
Converted Rating: 3-Stars (I had to round down for this one)

This book was fantastic.

As usual by this point, this series keeps getting better and better.

The writing and pacing are so well done. The angst always keeps you hooked, and the spice is top notch.

I loved discovering Bo and Destinee’s characters. They’re polar opposites, yet both are so lovable in their own way.

I had some apprehension before starting this book, thinking that maybe Abby, Victoria, and Alison would turn into side characters, and we’d lose the built connection from the past three books that I loved so much. But I’ve never been happier to be wrong.

I really enjoyed reading everyone’s POV and seeing how far their relationship has evolved. I’m clearly not disappointed.

Overall, this series is a must read. You’ll get incredible writing, amazing characters, and lots of healthy communication and spice.

I absolutely love The Awakening of Desire series. This is book number 4. And I hope they keep coming. New characters have been brought in. But Victoria and Abby are the best. In this book, we get to meet Bo. Victoria's best friend from school. And Maid of Honor. Bo is a loud, brash, fun loving female. She loves all women. And we meet Destinee. A soft butch who has started working as a cook for Victoria and Abby. Ruby does a wonderful job of bringing everyone together for the wedding. She has a wonderful way with words that just pull me into the story. And doesn't let go till the end. And I so hope there is more to the series. It has become my favorite. Go get it and

I have loved every instalment of this series so far and “Commitment to Desire” continues to deliver. Ruby Scott writes with an energy that draws you into the world she has created which she populates with likeable but flawed characters. The plot is well balanced with a touch of tension and intrigue thanks to Freya. I enjoyed getting to know Bo and Destinée. Scott doesn’t fail to deliver on the heat or BDSM, with some scorching scenes. Scott’s focus on love, trust and consent makes this a wonderful read. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

Commitment of Desire by Ruby Scott is the fourth in the Awakening of Desire series. I would suggest reading these books in order as they are one hell of a series with each character coming into their own.

This book is centred on Victoria Fraser and Abby Mason’s wedding and what an opening chapter, as Abby and Alison go to the airport to pick up Victoria’s best woman, Bo McKinnon. As per Ruby’s style, the humour and banter are exceptional and had me reeling from the offset. The character development is well defined, it's like returning home to old friends. New characters bring their own larger-than-life personalities. Some you will fall in love with, others well, let’s just say you will have to read to find out.

This book fits into lots of genres/tropes for any reading challenge and one I would highly recommend. Surely Ms Scott, there must be another book!

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author for my honest review.

Time to tie the knot...

Another great instalment to the Desire series! This one felt a little different to me but in a good way and that might've been because the addition of the new characters. Different but still familiar, if that makes sense. Everyone was so uniquely different and I think at this point, we could probably create a "which character are you" personality test. I really appreciated that though because with as many people as there are, and with as many things going on, it could easily get confusing but somehow, these characters consistently maintain their individuality.

Firstly there's the new character Bo who, in the beginning, seemed intimidating to me. With a name like Boadicea, how could you not have a blunt personality and sense humor? Intimidating but curious because I feel drawn to people with large personalities while at the same time they make me nervous. I thought she was going to be too much and possibly exhausting but while she was definitely outspoken, her role turned out to be completely unexpected and better from what I assumed. I guess this mean I like marmite.

Then, omg, there's Destinee with an "e". She's one of those characters that if she were a real person, I would be so confused about whether or not I want to BE her or be WITH her 😂🥵 Girl was one of the hottest things on a page that I've read but I can't tell if I'm jealous of her smooth spicy bedroom moves or jealous of who's on the receiving end. She's so confident and bold but not in an undeserving or obnoxious way. Of course, a lot of that probably has to do with her experience (or what little of it we know about) but the self-assuredness she exuded even while discovering new things, made her insanely attractive and a perfect addition to this group of strong women. I can't wait to know more because at this point, she still has this mystery about her and I think that's one of the things that makes her so intriguing.

And my all time favorite, Victoria. There's something about this character that feels safe and comfortable because she's a constant throughout the series. Her and Abby develop their relationship together throughout the story line, which means she grows with it as well but there's still this unwavering strength and wisdom she's carried the whole time. She knows when to step in and when to step back. To me, she seems like the glue and the main force that has brought all these people together (literally) and they all seem better for it. Plus I have a thing for red heads so that also makes her even better, in my opinion.

This was such an interesting story to add to the series, full of ups and downs and surprises. The characters, the plot, the spice and certain subject matters will definitely keep you turning the page and wanting to know everything. I can't wait to see what happens next because that cliffhanger was a doozy.

This fourth book in the Awakening Of Desire Series was a wonderful story about the plans and preparations leading up to Victoria and Abby’s wedding. Included were re-visits from some former characters and the introduction of some new ones. The character making the biggest splash was Destinee, the strikingly beautiful dark haired butch recently employed by Victoria as part of an ex-offender’s program helping the newly released find jobs. She gained the eyes and desires of some and the admiration of everyone. She also found herself involved in some interesting trysts. I was also drawn to Bo McKinnon, a larger than life character who provided some very entertaining moments.
This story was fun and exciting while it also contained moments of emotional drama around an issue of mental health, all which were handled beautifully.
However, never fear, for Ruby Scott did not disappoint, for this fun and delightful story has a nice dose of steamy, sexy scenes, bedroom toys and more surprises, all tastefully done.

I'm team Destinee!
I'm not a big fan of some kind of open ending and now I'm all the more excited to see what will become of Bo and Destinee.
I was rather amused by Bo's manner from the start, but Bo combined with Destinee...phew!
I love the chemistry between these two!
It crackles and is anything but an easy start!
It took these two some time to really warm up, but then, hot, hot, hot!
I was a little annoyed with the topic of Freya, but everything is written in an understandable way and in the end it is a good part of the exciting story of Abby, Victoria and also of Olivia and Alison and Bo and Destinee!
A lot happens and keeps you in suspense.
The polyamorous relationships continue as well, but I don't want to give too much away.
I hope we don't have to wait too long…

I read an Arc for an honest review.

Hot, romantic and keeps you guessing

I've loved this series since the first book and Ruby continues to delight us as Abby and Victoria build their new life together.

As ever, Scott gives us new characters in their orbit who are passionate and funny but who all gel and mesh together.

This is less dramatic than the last couple of books in some ways but makes up for that with some really adorable loving scenes between our favourite Domme and her sub.

The surprises keep you guessing what's happening next, right upto the last minute.

A must read of loving, hot relationships.

Victoria and Abby get married. It's lovely and I'm so glad that they are so happy with each other. The new characters, Destinee - chef ex-con D, and Bo, playgirl swing, are fun to meet. Abby's sister is less fun. This book relies heavily on the miscommunication trope, which is a pretty noticeable departure from the rest of the series where it's all about communication and consent. For this reason, I enjoyed this book a little less -- seriously, if some conversations were had earlier, there would have been much less drama. That said, it was great to see Abby and Victoria tie the knot and the chemistry between Desinee and Bo was great. And the bachelorette party, oh my.

Good book

As things go Victoria and Abby are getting married but everything is going wrong. When the best woman Bo ,who is a wild and sleeps with all women, helps out with the wedding place at her parents castle. Allison and Olivia are together and very happy. Victoria has taken in a chief Destinee that used to be in prison it part of program that starts her with a clean slate. Bo is just intrigued with her. Abby's sister has a problem and not telling anyone until things get bad. No through one neck of a hen party and things start to change for everyone. A great read with all three couples and can wait till the next book

Great fourth instalment to the Desire series. Our two favorite couples are here and poor Abby is freaking out about the over the top arrangements of their upcoming wedding. We get to meet three new characters, Bo (Victoria's best woman) - (sorry, but did I miss something in the previous books, because being Vic's best friend I sorta never heard of her?) Then there is Desiree, cook extraordinaire, girl with a dubious past been taken into the Vic&Abby household. And last but not least the super annoying sister of Abby. All three newbies are given ample attention for us to get to know them, and surprises are had!
Great story, great characters and hopefully more stories to come.

The only negative critic I have to this book is the fact that (in my opinion) most of the scenes, at least from the half of the book to the end, felt half written. There were a lot of important parts that required more details and attention.

This book feels that only throws you glimpses of what hapenned, and not the full situation and how it ended, and for some reason that didn't let me enjoy the book as much as I wanted to. As a fan of Victoria and Abby's relationship, I was incredibly exited for their wedding, but even those part were a little dissapointing.

However, is a good book, with new characters and new adventures. Personally, I can't wait to see what happens next.

I wasn’t sure about the introduction of even more new characters but as the story progressed it was nice to have other stories to get involved in. The one scene for Alison and Olivia made it feel like they were ‘filler’ characters which was a shame.

Bo and Destinee’s story was welcome addition to the story line and gave another chance for this series to explain the BDSM world, which I appreciated.

As always the spicy scenes were well written and very hot. I do hope that the 5th book has more senses of the new foursome that developed and perhaps Bo and Destinee may have the chance to explore something with Moira, a person can hope at least!

Have you ever been a member of a wedding party? Best woman, maid of honor, heck have you ever planned a wedding? You know what happens more often than not. Drama. The nerves, the pressure, the guests, friends and family all come together in a pressure cooker in the name of love. Ruby Scott has given us a story that is hot, sexy and full of love. I do recommend this wonderful book. Oh and Ruby is becoming the queen of edging her readers. The cliff hanger will leave you hungry for the next book in this sexy series.

This book...phew, it has really stuck with me. I can't seem to stop thinking about it.

It's almost time for Victoria and Abby to get married. Of course, that means family and friends coming into their life and upending it. In this book we get to meet Victoria's best woman, Bo, Abby's sister, Freya, and the mysterious little butch cook, Destinee. Don't worry, Alison and Olivia are still hanging around.

As always, Ruby has given us a well-written book with an amazing story and excellent characters. Each character has their own voice and we get taken through the whirlwind of their journeys. I don't know how many times I laughed, snorted, or cried as I was reading. And apparently I am a sucker for a good wedding!

This author knows just the right amount of levity, heavy topics, fun, and tears to put into a story that will keep the reader entertained right to the end and left wanting more. and as always, the spiciness of this book is just...off the charts.

I loved all the little UK references in it, it really helped to set the scene.

And it has a castle! Who doesn't love a castle?

Each book in the series has been a delight to read. Centered around Victoria and Abby and their growing family of friends. This story adds yet another layer. This one has a wedding were not everything goes to plan. Abbys sister arrives for the wedding and looks like she is going to spoil the harmony and not just for Victoria and Abby, but all is not as it seems on the surface. Ruby Scott writes a cracking story, it's a little explicit at times, but what's a little spice between friends.

This whole series is amazing, and I was thrilled to be able to delve into Victoria and Abby's world for the fourth time! Commitment To Desire is based around V and A's upcoming wedding, and with that comes more sexiness, spice and drama! New characters and challenges are introduced, and I must say, Bo now holds a special place in my romantic heart. I recommend giving it a go. Reading in order is ideal to really appreciate the incredible cast of characters!

This is the continuation of the Desire series, with the wedding of Victoria and Abby and introduction of a brand new couple Bo and Destinee, and Abby's difficult sister Freya. Tons of drama and plenty of steamy sexy scenes! I love the relationship between Vic and Abby, but I am not sure about Bo and Destinee, for me this new romance feels rushed and not very convincing, with such a big age gap and wealth gap. Overall the story is interesting and enjoyable.

Ruby Scott has a way to draw you into the stories she writes. This being no exception! There’s humor, sexy steamy scenes, character depth and a little tension here and there. With every book she writes, she gets better, if that’s even possible!

Absolutely worth it to read this series. Go on, you won’t be disappointed!

In my opinion you should really read the entire series. The characters are engaging and the story keeps the pages turning. In a world of BDSM, the author weaves all the bits that make human nature so unique - from self-discovery to emotional awakening and the most important, understanding love. Definitely worth the time to read. Although I purchased the book, I did receive an ARC copy.

Just enough angst to keep you reading and plenty of heat and spice. This has been one of my favourite series in a very long time, I can’t recommend it enough!

Diving back into the world of Abby, Victoria, Alison and Olivia was everything I hoped for and so much more. An absolute must read!!

Another scorcher

I can honestly say this is one of my favourite series. It manages to be hot, heartfelt and keep you on your toes. If you're looking for sexy mixed with a tug on the heartstrings this is the book for you. Of course the spanking is a good pull as well.

Sarcasm and sex... a perfect combo. Bo McKinnon is the kind of hurricane you want to get caught up in. Sexy, sarcastic, and secretly the sweetest person ever. She is seriously one of my favorite characters of all time.
