THE TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS 02: NATIONAL ANTHEM

Rate this book

Killjoys never die.

Holy!!!! I loved literally every moment of this!!! It's upsetting to know this story isn't in the canon storyline but wow! I loved how more in depth this was emotionally and worldly(?). The characters felt a lot more fleshed out in this comic than in the first installment, and the art was BEAUTIFUL! I went back and forth between so many pages just absorbing the art, especially the double-paged spreads. The colors just popped out at me immediately, right from the first page, which was also an amazing way to start the story off; I felt the energy immediately and was instantly HOOKED! I technically started the comic 5 days ago, but I really read it in 2 days between classes because of my lack of ability to put it down. There's something about the Killjoys universe that leaves me coming back for more, to the point where I got so upset realizing that I had no more comics to read from it. :( At least I can always re-read them and continue to revisit the Danger Days album.

This felt way more "put together" than The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: California, at least in my opinion. The ending didn't feel as rushed. Kinda sad this isn't canon to the original story line though, I really enjoyed reading it.

This story was very good! I bought it after re-reading the other Killjoys graphic novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, however I liked the other one a tiny bit better.

This one was a bit harder to comprehend, but once you get into it, things start to fall into place.

Pains me to say it, but it really wasn’t anything special. Love the concept, just… not very well executed?
