There is no succinct review in the English language of the whole problem of marriage, especially in its present form of an acute conflict between modern 'humanistic' theories and the traditional teaching of Christianity. This book provides for the need. It is moderate in price, suited for the non-technical reader, and leaves very little ground uncovered. It deals with the New Testament teaching, the canon law of divorce and nullity, the problem of 'civil' and 'religious' marriage, 'companionate marriage', the present position of the Church of England, the Lambeth resolutions, the arguments for and against indissolubility, etc. As a guide both to discussion and to further study, it should prove useful to clergy and laity alike.
