Will & A Royal Family is one of an exciting series of lush books celebrating some of the most popular and influential figures of the day – who are constantly talked about and whose every life event, fashion choice or opinion is awaited with baited breath by legions of fans. Prince William had many adoring fans already of course, but when Will and Kate became William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their allure and popularity went through the roof – starting with that wedding and THAT dress. Will & Kate is the ultimate celebration of the world’s favourite couple. Discover the fairy tale through the story of their courtship, wedding and marriage told alongside inspirational and beautiful photography – revel in the romance, the outfits, the fantasy.
For those who like the royals, especially the younger generations this is a book that you will enjoy as you get to know Prince William and his wife on a bit of more intimate level. Just as a precautionary measure, though, it was published before baby #3 and Prince Harry marrying Meghan.
What made this so sweet is that it isn't a wordy book at all and it explores both husband and wife almost equally. As a result you get to know them as children, what it was like for Prince William to grow up although it didn't get into the questionable parts of scandal from his family or surrounding family, their courtship, their marriage, what it is like to live as royals and finally information on their two children.
The book itself is freely filled out with colored pictures of the couple as well as quotes not only from them but also from those who know them. As a result the book is unusually well balanced in its presentation along other books that like to pounce on the juicy tragedies of the royals.
The only thing I believe I would have changed is the fashion style focus that the book had. Even though Kate is known for her style and has slowly had to find her feet to get there I don't think it belonged in this telling, especially as it came right before the introduction of her kids. Instead I think a subject that would have been more interesting to include and that could have simply replaced fashion sense would have been their parenting style, how it differs from their parents, etc.
All in all it was a great book and one that I truly enjoyed. For those who like to keep updated on the royals this is one book that should most definitely be in your collection while I hope the same thought and consideration is taken if the author chooses to highlight Harry and his family.
I haven't decided yet whether I'll write a review for my blog, but this book was really lovely. The pictures were beautiful, and there were quite a few I hadn't seen before, which was nice. I liked all the 'spotlight' quotes from different people about the couple, and I learned some new things about Will and Kate individually and as a couple. If you're a fan of the Duke and Duchess and enjoy reading about them and seeing pictures, I'd recommend this book.
