About the author

Born into Barcelona's upper middle class on August 30, 1936, Tusquets grew up during Francisco Franco's right-wing dictatorship (in power from 1937 to 1975). She spent several years teaching literature and history at the Carillo Academy. She was the director of the publishing house "Lumen" in Barcelona. She published her first novel at age 42. Distinguished by a syntactically convoluted and multi-layered prose style, her works employ a relentless stream-of-consciousness reminiscent of Proust and Woolf.

She brought a highly eroticized woman's voice to Spain's post-Civil War literature. Her metafictional approach often employed emblematic lesbian characters to delineate the limits and possibilities of female sexual autonomy. Her work was a precursor in that it dealt openly with lesbianism for the first time in the history of Spanish narrative.

DNF. La travesía de una chica (Sara) a lo largo de los años. Desde la infancia y el amor platónico (por una artista), después la adolescencia y el instituto enamorada de un hombre que no la elige (después tiene un amorio con su amiga) pero luego se arrepiente y vuelve por ella.

Escritura interesante, pero me lo vendieron por libro erótico y la verdad es que de eso tiene muy poco. Describe mucho más las dinámicas de la vida cotidiana y el sentir de la protagonista con el resto de los personajes con un toque de escenas románticas/sexuales.

Lírico e íntimo y pasional, muchas veces triste e incluso agresivo, como crecer y enamorarse y dejar de lado la infancia a tropezones de adultez. Me agarró mucho más de lo que esperaba, sobre todo "En la ciudad sin mar"(que fue mucho de vivir y crecer lejos, y también amar a mujeres, para mi) y "Orquesta de verano" (que me destrozó con su crudeza y su verdad), y era quizá justo lo que quería leer. Toi siempre tiene razón
