This has the novelty value of being set in a time and place very familiar to me. I was too busy being a single mum to get involved with the types of characters John Lake writes about, but I was kind of there. Doubtless I know some of the people the characters were inspired by!
Anyway, I found it quite entertaining and engaged with the characters enough to want to keep reading and find out what happened to them. It was a quick read. Thrillers aren't usually my first choice of reading, but I'll probably borrow the next two in this trilogy from the library.
