Oookay. First abandoned book of 2015. I feel bad because I asked for this for Christmas a few years ago. I didn't know it was a self-published book; I found it by watching the author's inspirational pep-talks on YouTube, and thought perhaps I might like reading his novel. I tried. I really did. But the first chapter is nothing but an info dump, and the writing style is so choppy and confusing and I can't tell who's narrating or who's asking these questions every two paragraphs or who's speaking, and Smart's use of dashes in all the wrong places throws me for a loop... And it just looks so self-published. Not that that's bad! I'm all for self-publishing, but the cover... the font is so impossible to read on the back cover, and on the inside the author uses a font that's almost as bad as comic sans and it's hurting my eyes and my head. I'm sorry. It's pretty awful. But if Ralph Smart reads this review (as I know many self-published authors search Goodreads for their titles), I mean you no disrespect. Keep creating, keep making art. I'm sure there are people out there who like it, but it's just not for me.

I really liked this book. It's different from what I typically read given the fact that it is sci-fi but I really liked it. It tells a beautiful story about a group of people going against the odds to help save the planet meanwhile within that story the writer offers a wealth of knowledge and internal reflection about life and the world and people. Although it is science fiction, it offers a great deal of facts about history and for example there are several points where the writer talks about the etymology of certain words and what they really mean. I found the information to be extremely interesting. It made me rethink how I think about certain things. In a nutshell I thought it was a fantastic book.

What are we becoming? Something needs to change. WE need to change. That's the message I got from reading Ralph's book. It is science fiction, in the story line of “good versus evil.” We need to heal this beautiful planet and I really like how he expresses that in the use of the “CRYSTALS” and one of our planet's most precise gifts, WATER. Question everything; don't believe everything you read or see in the media (most of it is lies anyway). Find and speak YOUR truth. Your dreams will become a reality. This book gave me hope. A hope for a better world to come – and it will! Love (not war) conquers all ;-)
