Robert Frost, an incredible poet, and yet also psychologically ill and emotionally stunted adult. This one volume edition of the acclaimed authorized biography by Lawrance Thompson and R.H. Winnick (Edited by Lathem) provides incredible insights into the life, associates, and writing of Frost. I am now enthusiastic to read Frost's poetry, and hope to find the original published editions rather than the compilations.....This biography is a labor of love and worth every effort to find for readers who enjoy coming to understand the human being with pen in hand.
A review of this book was reprinted in Atlantic Monthly for its centennial celebration. It's still considered the definitive book on Frost. Thompson knew Frost personally and was able to tell the story of how Frost created himself as a poet. He had plenty of personal agonies to draw from, and created plenty more for his family and few friends. It's my favorite kind of biography - one in which you experience the inside of someone else's life.
