Every smile tells a story! and SACRED BOND is full of smiles. Although written from the African-American perspective, this beautifully written and very inspirational book transcends race. SACRED BOND reminds us that perceptions drive images and vice versa.

Simply put, it is a book about mothers and sons and what can happen when the undeniable bond of love has an opportunity to thrive. There is good and bad in every community, the African-American community being no different. Unfortunately in a myopic society where we operate in fear we will never truly be able to unite as one. However, the first step can be as simple as taking a moment to listen with an empathetic ear, see with unfiltered eyes and risk to love with an open heart.

This book contains short stories - only a few pages each - of black men and their mothers. It captures a wide array of relationships and is a fascinating study of the way mothers shape our lives. These men range from teenagers and college students to established professionals, including recent presidential hopeful Ben Carson, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr., and recently deceased ESPN sportscaster Stuart Scott. While some stories were better crafted than others, the beauty of this book is the wide range of human experiences and responses. We could all stand to look at things from someone else's perspective, especially in today's society.

This book is the story of all the strong women in the world who raises boys to become men and the bond that is shared between mothers and sons. An incredible, powerful and touching stories, will leave you stronger and to appreciate all the women in your life. I am glad I read this book.
