In this volume, Sevareid primarily covers his life in the 1930s and 1940s. It includes his famous canoe trip from MN to Canada (covered more fully in his autobiographical "Canoeing with the Cree"), as well as his WWII experiences and his rescue from a plane crash in Burma.
It also includes a good bit about life in the depression, and his early start in journalism.
