I'm not sure whether his classification system (based on how much a food is heated) is unnecessarily strict or not but am trying to follow and see if I can make it work for me. The biggest surprise to me was I never knew I had "racing thoughts" until after a few days of his "boot camp" diet, they stopped. Don't know if dropping coffee alone would have given the same result. But it wouldn't have helped me lose about a pound a day, on average since I started.
Also the recipes in the back of this book are encouraging. Some of them sound very good.
Great book that succinctly and without complication describes how our bodies work and the fact that it can self heal if given the proper nutrition. I am compelled to make a change to a more plant based style of eating. Thank you Dr. Montgomery for equipping us with this knowledge. When you know better, then you have the responsibility to do better.
The key elements in Dr. Montgomery's protocol is not just what you eat but how it is prepared. He teaches how to get the most nutritional value from your fruits and vegetables. He teaches how not to over steam or cook your food.
