Heart of A Lion: The Leadership of LT. Michael P. Murphy, U.S. Navy SEAL
Over the course of his short life, Michael Patrick Murphy came to personify three critically important pillars of leadership. First, before you can lead, you must positively influence others. Second, you must develop an unshakable moral character. Third, you must always act with integrity consistent with that character… an integrity and character that transcends position-only leadership and provides the all-important moral authority to lead. On June 28, 2005 LT Michael P. Murphy faced two profound moral leadership questions; the first after capturing three civilian non-combatants. The second to deliberately put himself in the enemy’s direct line of fire in a final effort to get help for his men. How Michael P. Murphy chose to answer those two questions will forever separate him from those he fought. This book details the leadership traits of the most celebrated Medal of Honor recipient since World War II.

Great story, quick read but Gary Williams highlights some of the most important qualities of leadership that Michael Murphy displayed and why they are important. One of my favorite quotes from the book was “leaders are readers”. Reading every single day will do wonders for you if you can be disciplined enough to do it, no matter what, every single day.

A short read…but full of great examples of what it takes to be a great leader. Lt. Michael P. Murphy was a leader with a high morale fiber, selflessness, and unsurpassed integrity. A man with values that we should all try to emulate.

Pretty boring. No disrespect to Michael Murphy. Only read this to read something because I finished my other book at my boyfriend’s and didn’t have anything else to read

Good book, especially for young men. Read aloud to my boys. Inspired thoughtful questions and allowed for good conversations regarding what it means to be a man.

I felt like this book should have been given out at a seminar. I read it because a student gave it to me to read. I left that the leadership qualities were probably pulled put of a training manual.
