I got this as a free book from Goodreads giveaway.
That being said, this was a 3.5 star book. I liked it and found it to be entertaining and enjoyable. The continuation from the first book was nice, and it picked up nicely from where it left off. The characters themselves were fun, at times humorous, and overall I found them to be defined well for their ages. This book seemed to me to have more action and tense moments, with a few surprises thrown in that could be unexpected and added to the plot. I liked the science behind the technology and thought that the details given added to the story and were done in a way that didn't seem like it was just plopped down at a random point. Overall it was a good read, pretty light and not very intense, something nice to read.

I liked this book more than the first one. I felt like Ivis developed the characters further and made them more approachable. The space battles were AWESOME!
The physics was believable behind the zero and low-G combat. There was barely a minute of this book that I wasn't holding my breath hoping that the characters would pull it off.
The description of the destruction of the Earth is very thought out and detailed.
The God element was threaded better throughout this book. A much improvement on the first one.
It's a quick read. I would've liked it to be longer.
I recommend this book to the same people as the first book.

Synopsis: Todd and his friends are now in space aboard their shuttles after managing to out run the SS. The Ark is almost complete and close to launch. All is not well however, the group discovers that the Bank has secretly created a base on Jupiter and is building war ships, with orders to pursue the Ark to ensure it stays under their control, if they are unable to do so the warship will destroy the unarmed Ark. Troubles on Earth are escalating and it’s only a matter of time until Iraq launches it’s newly acquired nuke, but what will it’s target be?
Will our heroes and the humans on the Ark be able to escape the Bank, SS, Earth and all its troubles?

WOW this book is amazing, it was even better than the first book (which was also amazing). I loved just about everything about it. It is easily five stars, in fact I was only about a third of the way through the book and already knew that it was going to get five stars. It’s a shame its publishing date fell just outside of the deadline date for the 2012 Goodreads Choice Award or I would have been nominating it for that.
The book starts off with some nice reminders of what happened in the first book, enough to remind the reader if it has been a while since they read it, but not so much that it takes up too much time. It is also told in a natural conversational way making it easier to read.
Once again there is plenty of science and technology used in this book. The author clearly knows what he is writing about and has done plenty of research to make the science-fiction in his book believable. A good understanding of both real world science and science-fiction will greatly help a reader understand and appreciate this series but it’s probably not essential since the author does a great job of explaining things. I like how the author includes the sources for his book.
I especially enjoyed how the author explains how the spaceships deal with rapid acceleration and how artificial gravity is created.
The level of detail in the descriptions is again of a high level, it is easy to follow what is happening and to visualise all of what is happening in the story. I felt the author done a better job of not overdoing it in this book compared to book one, as there was only really one time that it felt like it went on for too long (when the characters are telling Todd on what he missed out on while unconscious, events that as a reader we have only just read about.)
There is an especially well written, major event that occurs about a third of the way through this book. In was so wonderful I didn’t miss the fact the main characters weren’t even involved in it or the fact that it went on for a long time describing events in high detail.
The Christian religious elements and theology are much stronger in this book; I liked the characters prayers throughout the book, and the discussion about God towards the end of the story. I would say Christian readers will enjoy this book, but the religious elements aren’t so strong that non-Christians can’t enjoy it too unless they are strongly non-Christian.
The characters are amazing and extremely well written. They have strong and distinct personalities. The dynamics between the main characters is entertaining, enjoyable and believable.
As well as the human characters, the two computer personalities are fantastic and highly amusing. They are so lifelike and human you can almost forget that they are computers.
I like the fact the characters act on the information that they have, they don’t instinctively know stuff or guess what everyone is doing based on little information.
There were a couple of very minor problems I had with this book. Firstly why did our heroes decide to send a human scout party to investigate the base around Jupiter, it didn’t have a real-life purpose as far as I could tell and was really only to set up the sequences that followed it. As these were some great sequences it can be forgiven. As part of that, why is the “Shark” almost totally unmanned and undefended?

This is a fantastic series and a wonderful book easily worthy of five stars. The story is excellent, the characters strong and believable with wonderful interactions and dynamics. The level of detail in the description is at a high level without over doing it, and the science and technology is believable and great to read about.

I received this book as a gift from the author after reading and reviewing the first book in the series,Xterra Conspiracy - Book #1, which I had really enjoyed. The author promised a bit more action in the 2nd installment, and the book definitely delivers. It continues where the first book left off, with our intrepid teen heroes en route to Jupiter to find a secret space base constructing military space vehicles, which has been supposedly outlawed by the United Nations, but happens to have been built by them anyway. While this is occurring, Earth is in the midst of riots and violence as people express their anger at being left behind to die on the doomed Earth. Secret plots, terrorists, and earth shattering destruction is in abundance.
One of the things I really appreciated about the first book was the firm basis in scientific theory and application, and Mr. Davis continues with this in Escape. A knowledge of various scientific disciplines is in evidence, from geology and metallurgy, to astronomy and physics, making it a very fun read for people who actually like the "science" in science fiction.
The development of the characters is evident as well, as the teens start to realize that being at war isn't all fun and games, even if you are genius-level intelligent. The concept of God appears again in the book as well, though it is not as glaring in this installment, and I can't really find fault with people fighting for their lives praying for a little extra help from the guy upstairs. As a person with a scientific background, I have found myself at odds with the concept of God in relation to science as well, and I can readily empathize with the main characters in the story and their skepticism, as well as trying to find some sort of faith in the midst of crisis.
As with the first book, this is a fun, fast read. I sat down with the book and before I knew it, I was done in 1 sitting. I'm excited to see what the author has in store for the third book in the series, of which there is a very brief excerpt at the end of this book, and has me hoping Mr. Davis writes quickly. =)

Great book...Mr. Davis has done it again! XTERRA Escape is an extremely well written science fiction story that picked up where XTERRA Conspiracy left off. Wow, I did not know how this book could be better than the first book, but it was. Great characters - both good and evil; exciting space battles; a budding romance; wonderful descriptive settings; and extremely clever surprises throughout the entire book kept me truly entertained over the course of the entire novel.
Once again, I appreciated the absence of both vulgar language and excessive graphic violence. This is a well done, PG rating, science fiction story set one hundred year in the future that is for readers of all ages. Mr. Davis has a wonderful talent in describing to the reader what is occurring. I felt that I was in a starship, wearing a spacesuit; witnessing the massive destruction on the planet Earth; inside the production facility on another planet; involved in a great space battle…I was visualizing the story with complete clarity. I, once again, could not put this installment of the XTERRA series down!
Mr. Davis was kind enough to send me a copy of this book, but in no way did that alter my opinion of how enjoyable this book was to read. I am going to have difficulty in waiting for XTERRA Dark Matter (Book #3) to come out as I want to read it now! If it is as good as XTERRA Conspiracy & XTERRA Escape then this series has unlimited potential. I look forward to all future books in the XTERRA series!

From the moment I was sent the first copy to edit, through the multiple times I have read Oasis (Xterra Conspiracy/Escape), I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The character builds, the technology, the interactions, the suspense, humor, and the plot still keep me interested in reading it. I am looking forward to reading "Dark Matter" when Bo publishes it. I highly recommend Xterra.

I truly enjoyed this book. This author outdid himself with this stroyline and its continuation from book one. I feel as if I did not miss anything if I had not read book one. I especially loved the pages when the colony ship was hit and was making its way to Earth. This and the following pages were well written and exciting. I was very surprised what actaully happened to the Triznov. I also was impressed with the members of the World Treasury Bank, and how they got theirs in the end.
I can not wait to read book three. This series seems to be my addiction.
