This book is a first hand account by a western initiate as he examines traditions as diverse as Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Sufi, Druze, Taoist and Tibetan alchemical doctrines, Egyptian mysteries, Mayan traditions, and an exploration of many sacred monuments from around the world. It is also a first hand account of his meeting with spiritual leaders of different traditions, including Harun Yahya. This book will be particularly interesting to anyone with a background in Templarism, Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism, or Martinism. Timothy Hogan is the Grand Master of the Knights Templar (Ordre Souverain du Temple Initiatique lineage), and he currently runs CIRCES International. He speaks regularly around the world on the western mystery tradition. This book follows some of his travels as he attempts to do The Great Work.

This one was written better than his previous stuff, which is written fairly poorly. It distills some of the information from previous works in a better format, as well as introduces some interesting unique information about the Druze and other subjects.

Timothy Hogan is really not a very good guy, it turns out, but at least this work gives you an idea of how various initiatic traditions from different religions can come together or at least have some cross-talk over the years and centuries.

This is a very good book on the theory of Freemasonry and how it was created from from thousands of years of historic backgrounds from other societies. It is hard to believe a symbol, letter or character used by an ancient society can be used to justify it being connected with Freemasonry many centuries later. Should be read more than once and used as reference in the study of Freemasonry to create thought and insight but never should be considered as an authority without collaboration.

This shouldn't be considered scholarly per se, but there is a wealth of information here in this book. Much of it reads like a travelogue, but a very interesting one. Non masons might have difficulty understanding all of his references, but it is clear for the most part. I enjoyed reading it. It posed some great questions, perhaps the answers are omitted for me to find on my own... Recommended if you are a mason.
