About the author

Ruth Ryan Langan (aka Ruth Langan) is an award-winning author of romance novels. She is a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award winner and has twice been nominated for Romantic Times Reviwers' Choice Awards, for Jade and Return of the Prodigal Son. She has spent much of her career writing historical romance novels for the Harlequin Historicals line of category romances. Many of her book are set in medieval times, while others are western romances. She has also written some contemporary romances, and often includes elements of suspense in her novels.

Langan began her writing career in secret. Her family discovered her writings when her children came home unexpectedly from school one day and found her writing. When Langan's husband was told of her hobby, he bought her an electric typewriter "because 'writers need tools'". Her first book was published by Silhouette Books in 1981 after an editor picked it out of their slush pile. After the first sale was completed, Langan got an agent.

Langan is a charter member of the Romance Writers of America. She has five children and lives with her husband in Michigan.

Really love the Fortunes of Texas books. Once you start them they are so hard to put down. This is the case with this one as well.

Ciara is a Hollywood actress who needs a chance to get away and rest and regroup. Her friend lets her stay in their cottage for a couple of days and there is a snowstorm. But she wants the time to be alone and think about the things she needs too. Well unfortunately, that might not happen.

Jace Lockhart is a war reporter who has seen too much and wants to regroup and think about things as well. His friend offers him a cabin in the mountains where there is a snowstorm and he doesn't mind because this will give him some alone time which he is desperate to have.

Unfortunately the cabin he uses and Ciara uses is the same cabin.

Ciara Wilde needs to find a safe isolated hideaway to figure out what she wants in her Hollywood super star life. Jace Lockhart is home after years aboard in Europe as a war correspondent. They both are looking for solitude to find peace and heal from their living wounds. They find each other and that is a funny episode which involves a lavender thong and a rifle. I love a damaged couple of people coming together and finding trust, respect and sexy delicious loving.
This is the best book in the first 6 books in the Fortunes of Texas series. The kidnapping plot is again on the back burner and it is almost a year since Bryan was taken. There are cameos of the first 5 books couples in the last chapter.

Another in a group of trashy romances. This one has two people promised a weekend alone who find themselves caught in a blizzard in the same cabin. Some funny spots, some sex, but not too explicit.
