Rebel Force #2

Draekon - Il Conquistatore

Rate this book
Vivo da un’eternità. Ho ucciso migliaia di persone. Distrutto mondi. Pensavo di aver visto di tutto, che nulla nella galassia potesse più sorprendermi.
E poi, ho incontrato lei, Lani Dennison. Una donna. Un’umana. La mia compagna. La mia missione è trovare Lani Dennison. Gli scienziati Zorahn l’avevano torturata. Li ho uccisi, ovviamente.
Mia. E ora?

Scheherazade for Jabba the Hutt!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 🥲😳😋😙

The heroine: Lani - she signed on to go on an adventure in space and everything was great until she became a prisoner of the Zorahn, experimented on, tortured and then abducted by Okaki Pirates. Okaki pirates are known for capturing exotic species in order to eat them as delicacies. The captain is called Gervil and he looks like the baby of Jabba the Hutt and an octopus. Lani was a kindergarten teacher and she loved to read, she has been staying alive for the past 90 days by telling stories and leaving them with a cliffhanger like Scheherazade did for the Sultan.

The Hero: Rohan (a.k.a Third) - He is one of the Crimson Force. He was awoken by Zorahn rebels after being in cryo-stasis for over a thousand years. Like his leader Kadir (a.k.a. Second), Raiht’vi injected him with a poison which will kill him in 90 days if he doesn’t return with the human women he is tasked with finding. He found one of the two and returned her to the rebels and went after Lani.

The Story: Rohan pretends to be working for the Okaki pirates and gets close to Lani. He had heard that she has stayed alive this long due to her storytelling and he is intrigued and attracted to intelligent females so he thinks he will have fun on this mission. When he first sees Lani, he can tell how tired she is and how close to giving up she looks. Though he also sees how attractive she is and wants to get to know her.

Though Lani sees that Rohan looks like a Zorahn (the people who tortured her for months), so is not so happy to see him on the ship. She keeps struggling stay alive by telling stories of Aladdin, Hobbits, Beauty and the Beast and more. She did her best each day to think of new and exiting stories that will keep Gervil’s interest each night so she doesn’t become Lani flavored soup.

The book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Jasper Woodcock and Misty Dawn. They do a great job and have perfect voices for this type of book. Jasper has a deep voice and a great cadence for alien romance. Misty has a soft, clear voice that sounds age appropriate and intelligent which matched Lani well.

The world building was great, from space ships to different types of Aliens, to bots and food synthesizers. The story was great, it took the story told in the first book and went on from there with a different member of the rebel force and a different human captive. I actually liked this one a bit better than the first.

Ruhan had been in stasis for 1000 years but once he woke up and is tasked with infiltrating a Zorahn ship to find two human females that have been kidnapped, he figures this will be an easy job. He's not expecting to find his mate though and when he finds Lani, he finds his mate.

Lani was kidnapped, and she keeps herself alive by giving the aliens something they want. She is smart and that's the only reason she's still alive. So when Ruhan says he's there to save her, she's not sure she can trust another alien but he gets her off the ship so that's one plus for him.

This is the second book in the series but the first book that I've read. I didn't really feel lost so you can read this as a standalone but I plan on going back and reading the first book since this one was very interesting and I want to get to know his brothers.

Ruhan was so much fun to get to know. I have a soft spot for shiters but an alien who is also a shifter? Sign me up. He was so great with Lani, since he knows that she's gone through a lot in the time she's been held captive he takes things really slow with her.

Lani was a very smart woman too. She gave her captors something that they wanted in order to stay alive, she told them stories. I love that about her, she's very witty and creative but also smart and strong. These two really made the best couple. When they run into danger, they realize how much they care for each other and that made the story even better.

Tacco12 - per RFS
.

For a thousand and one nights, Scheherazade told stories to save her life. So far, I’ve survived ninety-one. Just three months, though it feels like an eternity.

I need to spend some time geeking out about Lani’s storytelling abilities that saves her life!!! She was a kindergarten teacher and a reader!! This literally saved her life!! I’ve read to kindergartners before. It’s so hard to keep their attention. You have to make voices and exaggerate your tone of voice. It’s like putting on a show for both most interested and simultaneously not interested itty bitty perdón ever. They crawl all over the place and then stare at you in the span of seconds. Like deep concentrated and crazy eye contact stare. It’s so much work. And it prepared lovely Lani for her space adventure. It kept her alive. Her stories were so epic the pirate aliens didn’t eat her! All bookworms should take pride.

I’m really enjoying this series. Rebel Force is made up of five brothers. All Draekon (Dragon) shifters. This was Lani and Ruhan’s story and it was just as good as Draekon Warrior. I’m in love with these brothers and their sad life until freedom.

Ruhan is a scoundrel. From the get go he’s flirty and suave. Because of this it takes him longer to realize Lani is his mate! It’s actually a little bit funny. But when he finally figures it out he’s also all in. These two had a much better relationship. So much chemistry. Both gravitated to each other and felt like they belonged to each other from the beginning. It was really cute to see. I’m sucker for these books.

Unique play on 1000 Nights

As always, we get 2 severely traumatized MCs that find themselves inexplicably interested in each other despite wildly inappropriate timing. Although I guess in the previous series it was a ménage. This was an interesting scenario with 2 main characters I quite liked because they kept up the witty banter. Super precious.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: cannibalism-ish, death threat, violence, captivity, gore, burning, genocide

I didnt love it I didnt hate it. Was a bit slow for me and not enough development in their relationship for the pacing. Idk just ok.

So here is book two in the Rebel Force series and it is just as good as book one. Here we follow Ruhan and Lani. So Ruhan is another soldier that was awakened for a specific mission. He was sent out to look for the humans that were lost. So we know that Kadir was successful on his mission. So Ruhan is very tech savvy and he was able to find Lani. Only he did not expect his gratin to start talking to him. Lani has some how managed to stay alive on a pirate ship. These pirates are hideous and they love stories. She has been doing it for a long time and wonder when it will be her last. One day Ruhan shows up on the ship and everything goes crazy. She escapes with Ruhan and things just gets crazy. Well I can’t say that this book isn’t full of action because it’s one thing after another. Then we have the chemistry that these two have is simmering and then gets boiling hot. So will Ruhan figure out what Lani means to him. Will she want him more than wanting to go back to earth? Will they get a happily ever after? Check it out to see!

I enjoyed this for many of the same reasons I enjoyed the first book. The Draekon is marvelously solicitous to the human mate. Everyone is careful about consent. There aren't any needless misunderstandings or mind games. Everyone is delightedly straight forward.

But I admit that I didn't enjoy it quite as much as book one. I didn't find Ruhan quite as charismatic a lead male. Sure, he's cocky and cock-sure to cover his brokenness, which hits you in the feels. But I just didn't like him as much as I did Kadir from the previous book. That's not to say I didn't like him, just not as much. Similarly, I didn't find Lani as multifaceted as Alice. I liked her. But I didn't think she had quite the depth.

But the real question is whether I would read another book in the series and I would. In fact, book three, which involves pirates, looks especially tempting. I don't have it on my Kindle yet. But I look forward to reading it in the future.

another cute, spicy alien romance with a compelling overarching plot. the concept here is similar in nature to the first book in this series, in that we have another lab-generated dragon alien, plagued by a rogue brother alien-dragon hellbent on taking over the world. the romance here is where it shines, as ruhan is a more charming, cocky, and banter-y mmc than kadir was in book one.

bonus: we get a fun new planet to read about, and also the morally-greyification of ruhan through his past murderous misdeeds.

3 stars. this is a great series if you’re looking for something easy, low maintenance, with enough battles and explosions to make it feel like a more fleshed out sci-fi romance.

Just Fabulous!!

Ruhan, or Third is sent to rescue one of the female humans captured and tortured by the Zorahan scientists. She is no longer with the scientists but abducted by Okaki pirates, who eat their captives.

A true sci-fi adventure, with dragons, pirates, romance and where stories can save your life!

Totally captivating, pure entertainment!!

Liked it

A fun sci-fi romance with a hero & heroine that live to tease each other. This is an insta-lust romance with fated mates that fall for each other fast while surviving the dangers of the series' ongoing threat as well as some threats from this book alone. As with the first in this series, this book is not character-driven (i.e. realistic characters were not the goal). That said, the heroine is a kindergarten teacher from an unloving family. The hero is a warrior born in a lab and haunted by the atrocities he was forced to commit in the past. At the core I felt the heroine was a bit too similar to the heroine in book 1, but the hero's charm, spontaneity, and teasing attitude was a departure from the previous hero.

*****Spoiler Alert*****
Content Warning
Violence.
Fantasy Violence: ship fired upon & exploding, fighting tentacle aliens & some killed, dragons fighting each other. Fire & explosions on the ground. Heroine drugged, hit, & they attempt to roast her on a spit. Child briefly held captive. Brief references to previous torture - suffered by both heroine & hero. Brief references to potential torture, genocide, & war. Hero & heroine bloodthirsty towards each other's enemies, not about forgiving.
Sex. Unsolicited touching - but from beings wanting to eat her not rape her. Male with pierced nipples.

Critique
Character Depth. The characters had a superficiality to them. For example, the heroine took in his violent 1000 year ago past and got over it in seemingly minutes.

Opening the Field. This made no sense. Before the final showdown in the city they leave the shields open for hours to let one person back in. Why?? Why not just wait until they are there to let down the drawbridge? Makes no sense. Also the idea that it is a pregnant woman traveling back also makes no sense. Why would a pregnant woman about to give birth a) be traveling and b) be traveling toward danger? Someone injured who could not make it to next town would've made more sense.

Moral Compass. Since the draekon were made to be killers by scientists without a conscience, how did they end up with a moral compass at all? It would be nice to give some detail here, about a person or event that taught them right from wrong.

Ruhan and Lani - all the danger and all the swoons

I loved Ruhan and Lani’s story about two beings who believes themselves unworthy finding love and healing each other in the process. Lani is a human kindergarten teacher who embarked on what she thought was a diplomatic mission into space but ended up being kidnapped and tortured by alien scientists and then kidnapped by space pirates intent on eating her. Only her storytelling ability is keeping her alive. Ruhan is a Draekon Warrior. He was created in a laboratory and has been in stasis for a thousand years along with the five other Draekon Warriors. He is woken from stasis by the Rebellion to find the kidnapped human women, including Lani. Ruhan is better with tech then people so he’s a bit awkward. Ruhan and Lani are portrayed as real, relatable beings who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best. From their first meeting, there is a connection between Ruhan and Lani but there are many things that stand in the way of them being mated. They’ll have to find their way to accepting being fated mates and deal with their own insecurities while also trying to avoid detection from the psychopath First and escape from a planet on the verge of war. This book includes witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. This story has a little bit of everything you’d expect - sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous action, strong bonds, evil masterminds, henchmen, Uber protective men, plot twists, tragic back stories, political, machinations, and even a few chuckles. There is an overarching plot line that runs through this series so in order to get the best experience, the series should be enjoyed in order. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

“Draekon Conquerer” is the second story in the series ‘Rebel Force’ and it’s an amazing SciFi series which continues to keep us salivating over these Interstellar Warriors and admiring their mates, as they overcome many adversities. I am loving this series Rebel Force and thrilled that we are reading about another of the original Draekons who had been in statis for 1000 years!

Here is Second, who has taken the name Ruhan. He is gorgeous, has a wonderful sense of humor, charming, smart, a Warrior who can’t be beaten and doesn’t think he will ever find his mate or happiness. He loves technology and can do wonders with the new technology. He has been tasked with finding and rescuing Lani. Lani is the human, who has endured many hardships since she left earth. She has determination, intelligence and ability to adapt which has kept her alive. Ruhan admires ALL of these attributes. Oh, and he feels she is beautiful and perfect. Ruhan never thought he would have a problem protecting Lani and getting her to safety until First, one of the original Draekons, appears and this becomes a problem. Ruhan is faced with a dilemma. Lani is determined to help Ruhan which means staying where the danger is - Lee Savino and Lili Zander share with us a well written story with wonderful characters who explore and learn to trust one another. A beautiful love story with suspense, adventure, humor, HOT sexy scenes and delightful banter which will capture your attention until the end. Can’t wait for Rebel Force book THREE!!!

What made Draekon Conqueror such fun to read are its hero and heroine. Ruhan and Lani are both snarky, quirky, and prone to bad jokes in perilous situations. They both also have a matter-of-fact approach to life. Whether it’s plotting out the best way to get out of whatever predicament Ruhan finds himself in, or whether’s it’s Lani becoming an outer-space Scheherazade to save herself from man-eating aliens, neither becomes hysterical nor overwhelmed when they find themselves in truly awful quandaries. And that pragmatic yet funny tone is imbued throughout Draekon Conqueror.

There’s an overarching story about the danger that Ruhan’s old squad leader, First, is bringing to the Draekon universe, as well as continuing enrichment of the Draekon saga on new worlds. Those elements move forward or are expanded in Draekon Conqueror, while the specific story of Ruhan and Lani is nicely resolved in this book. I also really liked that Lani and Ruhan each respected the other’s profession and interests as they got to know one another over the course of this book. You feel confident in this couple’s HEA and future growth at the end of Draekon Conqueror.

Savino and Zander have a winning formula in this new Draekon series. I can’t wait for more books in it. And can we please find out if any Draekon mates were found on planet Nestri? Please?

Such a great series 💖

Deciding to take a chance on the first book in this series as a stroke of luck reading the second book was just a fantastic choice. This boom was even better than the first. I love Ruhan and Lani ! Lani is one of the tortured and experimented on humans. Just before being sold she was captured by pirates who see everything as food. She managed to keep her wits about her and just like Scheherazade she told her captors story after story hoping to stop her death. Ruhan is the third true Draekon and skilled with electronics as well as being a truky formidable warrior. He tracks the human females down rescues one and gets her to safety and goes after the other Lani. He kills the scientists and then infiltrates the pirate ship where he realizes the small beautiful female kept herself alive and was definitely in need of a rescue. Their interactions are awesome sounded chemistry, fun flirty banter streamed with periods of seriousness and passion. This is a true action, adventure with plenty of heart and heat to keep you warm on a cold snowy night. I'm off to read the three in the series. Highly recommend you'll love it give it a try 💖😍💖😍💖😍💖😍💖😍💖💖😍💖😍💖😍💖😍

I have always loved the Draekons but the Rebel Force Draekons are Special. Lani, a human and Ruhan a Draekon are the subjects of this story and it's wonderful from start to finish. Ruhan has been tasked with finding and rescuing Lani, who had been held and experimented on, but now was the captive of an Okaki pirate. The Okaki eat humans! To keep herself from being consumed at the next meal. Lani tells stories but her stories always end with cliffhangers so that the curiosity of the Okaki pirate Gervil, will keep her alive to hear the end of the story. Ruhan comes at the right time to save Lani and they both feel a spark of interest for each other, but not sure what that means. Ruhan calls her Lively Lani which she hates, but secretly, Ruhan knows he's waited a thousand years for a connection like he has with the little human. Sex is hot and frequent and problems are many, but the people around Ruhan, including his blue mech-spider are all very capable. I enjoyed ALL THE PAGES and was so happy to read about Chef Mardex in the end!!! I am looking forward to Rebel Force Book THREE!

I'm digging reading the OG Draekon books. It is really interesting to see these guys who were the first Draekon to walk the universe but who have been gone from it for over 1000 years and who are trying to deal with what's happening now vs what happened 100o years ago. For example, Ruhan talks about something that happened 1000 years ago, but for him it was only 2 years.

I really like Ruhan. He's funny, flirty, sassy, and acts like nothing ever bothers him. It's definitely protective coloration for him. He's terrifyingly competent, and has a very strong protective streak. He may act like nothing ever bothers him, but he really has a good heart, and he wants to make sure that everything works out well.

I like Lani. She's the perfect match for Ruhan. She doesn't let him get away with anything, and she's the first one to ask him about how far in the past things are for him and to tell him that things are going to be OK. She's also fiercely protective of him, which he really needs to have.

I am loving the Rebel Forces series. These Draekons are it - uber sexy, alpha to the core, smart, funny, loyal and dedicated. It's like the authors took all the best book boyfriend characteristics and put them into dragon shifters.

This is the story of Lanni Dennison and Third/Ruhan. Lanni is an Earth woman, former kindergarten teacher, who was kidnapped, imprisoned and tortured by Zorahn scientists. Then she was kidnapped again by cannibalistic pirates. In order to live to see another day she had to tell stories to the captain, Gervil. Ruhan poses as a mechanic to get on the pirate ship and rescue Lanni. They take an escape pod to Nestri and are shot down. One thousand years ago Ruhan destroyed the LoreLords of Nestri so the Zorahn Empire could get their cinnacar deposits earning the name Draekon Conqueror. He learns of a Draekon settlement being targeted by First and goes to help. While Ruhan and First are fighting Gervil and his second kidnap Lanni and try to eat her. Ruhan saves her again and the have their HEA as mates.

5/5!
Dual POVs.
Neither hero(Ruhan) or heroine (Lani) are virgins.
Fated mates trope; no other woman/man.
Happy ending
Steamy smex scenes; fellatio, multiple orgasms, big alien dragon 🍆! 🌶💯
No self induced angst.

Great communication between the characters, it shows they are both grown ass people with intelligence and a mouth.
(You’d be surprised how many books of the same genre are written as though miscommunication is the genre 🤦‍♀️)

Sex done right! None of that thrust-whole-monster-size-alien-cock-in-one-go-at-first-time-sex kinda BS.

Extremely charming hero~ Ruhan is so darn adorbs!! ❤️❤️

Epilogue: preview for couple of next book!

Would I re-read this book on my free time? Unfortunately, no. As much as I like this book, it still is missing that last bit of magic spark that the first book has. 😔❤️

Still, I recommend to read this book at least once!

Now onto the next book~~

Lani has been hanging on. She has been telling stories to Grevil to keep him from eating her. She no longer expects to be saved. Ruhan is the Third and here to rescue Lani. He also sees the strength and smarts. He doesn’t realize how truly important Lani is to him and his dragon.

I do love these stories. We have moved farther out from the prison planet and now with the 5 Crimson Force, we have more. Lani maybe a teacher but she is really picks up on everything around her. It always surprises Ruhan. These two will make you laugh and want to hug them. They are the best couple. I loved this story. Sure we have an abduction, but with Ruhan’s brains along with Lani’s it was a great adventure. We still have First on a crazy rampage. He isn’t going to be easy to catch. I wonder if we will get a story about Mandy, Lani’s friend.

Not quite 4 & 1/2 stars
I enjoyed this book, enough to want book 3 right away. Guess I'll have to wait for it to release.
The story flowed well & totally held my attention. The book definitely ties into book 1, and a lot of the back-story for the 6 original Draekon is in book 1, so a new reader really needs to start with book 1. The secondary characters have definitely overlapped from book 1 to book 2, & that's where reading book 1 will help.

I liked the main characters, Lani & Ruhan. They were a perfect mix for each other. I liked that Ruhan was so capable/competent with everything he does. It kind of felt like a merge of Jason Bourne with Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson in Taken), but he's an alien dragon shifter with all those exceptional capabilities. Awesome! The chemistry is definitely there between them, too. I loved that Lani got to fly on Ruhan's dragon, too!

Loved!!! These stories have a Ella maven stolen warrior series vibe and I am loving it. These poor tortured Draekon have survived so many years and still suffer at the thoughts and horrors they were forced to commit under duress and torture. Loved Ruhan. His charm and easy going nature and flirt make you smile even lani. But she is quick to catch on to his use of charm as deflection. He masks so much pain he was forced to commit and endure. Loved her acceptance of him and her slow acceptance of blue. Cute little spider bot. Lol. Loved their fight and determination. Won’t lie. I totally teared up during the scene where she knows not to try to convince him not to sacrifice himself and fight first. It was so beautiful and moving to watch it unfold as they fought for what was right. Loved the ending!!! Can’t wait for the next book.

Hot and steamy action with the 3rd Draekon OG!

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, detailed intimate scenes and violence.

While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

This is a great continuation of the Draekon series. It may be a new series, but it still builds on the storyline, universe and will occasionally have interactions with the original characters.

If you are looking for a story / series that has an overall arc, featuring hot bad boy Draekons and the females they can’t live without, while they work to overcome their current situation, then I can’t recommend this series enough.
