Reason has no place in a world where love has no power.
A girl from the twenty-first century finds herself lost in time, 1500 years in the past. Her life, saved from the watery depths of a lake by a magical sword. Excalibur. This retelling of the Arthurian Legends explores the fantastical idea that Guinevere was a time traveler.
Knowing the fate she faces, Guin attempts to keep Lancelot at a distance after coming face-to-face with the legendary knight. Thoughts of Josh, Guin’s best friend whom she had begun to fall for, are the only barrier she has against the strong attraction she feels for Lancelot. But Josh is a millennium away, and Guin has no way of returning to him and all those she loves. As Guin grapples with the idea of time travel, she struggles to accept that all her loved ones are gone. The life she knew is over. The wedding she ran from. The father who gave her an earldom. The best friend who became her lover. All of that is in her past, yet some time in the future.
Caitriona Drexler weaves passionate and unforgettable stories, igniting the spark of romance in every reader. By day, she applies her analytical mind as a data-driven art historian. This keen eye for detail and narrative translates seamlessly into her writing, where she crafts epic love stories brimming with spice and emotional depth. A lifelong reader and dreamer, Caitriona found her true calling in the wake of a traumatic breakup, embracing the power of storytelling to create worlds that resonate with the heart. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, son, and two feline companions.
WOW! Absolutely phenomenal story with incredible storytelling and plot! I loved everything about this book. It had a unique retelling of Arthurian legend. Guin is feisty and not some damsel in distress. The spice is spot on and just... *Chef's kiss*
Honestly, there is a lot to say, but I don't want to give away too much of the book. All I can say is you won't be disappointed if you read it. Just be prepared to be one hooked from the first chapter to the last. I was invested in Guin's story so much that I read it in just a couple hours! If you like Arthurian legend, time travel, and spicy romance then you need to read this NOW!
I can't wait for book 2 and I'll be running to sign up for the ARC copy! Caitriona Dexler you're such a talented writer, keep it up!
The White Enchantress is a time-travelling Arthurian retelling with dual POV following our characters as they develop a relationship and attempt to alter a doomed fate. Plenty of spice for those who like it, though please check trigger warnings - they are there for a reason.
This was an interesting read and I'm curious to see where the author takes the story. I struggled to buy into some of the relationships as they felt a bit rushed and the world still feels a little underdeveloped by the end of book 1. That said, I think the reimagined role of Excalibur is original and there's still plenty of directions the story can go from there.
A retelling/reimagined Arthurian legend with Outlander vibes!
This is book 1 in Songs of Another Time series. It’s a retelling/reimagined Arthurian legend with Outlander vibes! Guin is modern American-born English heiress is magically transported back in time. It is there she meets the handsome and noble knight Lancelot. The instant and strong attraction they feel for each other scares Guin because she knows what the legends say will happen if she gives into her feelings. I really enjoyed this book! Guin’s back story made me so sad, I loved the connection between her and Lancelot, how she brought parts of the modern world into the past like making certain foods and having a cellphone and solar charger, I loved details of the legend of Arthur and Excalibur are woven into this story. It was a face-paced and easy to read story. I’m really looking forward to book 2 to see where this story leads!
Outlander meets Arthurian Legends in this fantastical retelling that explores the idea that Guinevere was a time traveler.
Whoa boy. This was a wild one. I knew I needed to read this book as soon as I read the synopsis so many months ago and I'm glad I did. Fantasy is not my go-to genre but I do love me some Outlander and have always loved the tales of King Arthur.
Drexler's writing style is very fast paced. This isn't a slow burn, walk along the boardwalk. This is a launch coaster that warns you to keep your head back and your arms inside the vehicle at all times.
I love how Guinevere is written as a strong independent woman. At times, I had hoped she would be a bit more head strong, you know cause of the whole Excalibur thing, but what else is one supposed to do when thrown in to a new time period besides go with the flow?
I will give you a heads up, the story is continued in book two ... So you know what that means 😮💨😮💨😮💨 Remember to check your triggers babes!
**I received an ARC of this book to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own!
My thanks to the author for given me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read The White Enchantress for the first time in March this year and I immediately thought that this book is one of my favorite arthurian retellings. Recently, I noticed that I wanted to reread it. I still think it was an amazing read.
Plot
After being rescued from the murky depths of a lake by a magical sword, a girl from the twenty-first century finds herself 1500 years in the past. While Josh is a millennia away and Guin has no method of getting back to him and everyone she loves, she makes an effort to keep Lancelot at a distance. She finds it difficult to accept the loss of everyone she held dear, including the wedding she fled, the father who bestowed an earldom upon her, and the closest friend who later became her lover.
The plot of the book was super interesting. The book explores the idea of Guinevere as a time traveler, which was a really intriguing concept. The book has a very fast paced and kept me engaged the entire time. A very worthy read.
Characters
Guinevere
One of my favorite portrays of Guinevere. One think I can guarantee, she is no damsel in distress. She is brave, intelligent and a very caring person. I love how the author shows us her grieve and her struggle when she goes back in time. She was an awesome character and I loved her POV.
Lancelot
Lancelot was so good. Brave, intelligent, kind, loyal. I loved everything about his character. I love how loyal he is for Arthur and how much he loves Guinevere. I'm so happy that the author decided to write his POV. Definitely, my new book boyfriend.
Arthur
Arthur is interesting. The reader can see that he cares of his people and his kingdom and he seems to be a very complex character, but there's something about him, I don't know, I just don't fully trust him. Maybe it's just a feeling, but I will have to wait for the next novel.
Writing
The writing was really good. I loved the descriptions and my favorite part was the dialogue between the characters, especially the dialogue between Guinevere and the arthurian cast.
World-Building
I really love how Caitriona wrote Middle Ages England and added some mystical creatures like unicorn or dragons. The world-building was good. I like how she portrayed England in the sixth century and I loved the magical elements. I'm excited to see more of the mystical Excalibur, it has a mind of his own and I'm pretty sure the author will explore this part in the next book.
Romance
I have told many times, my favorite part of the legend is Lancelot and Guinevere romance and Caitriona wrote one of my favorite versions. They were so cute together. I loved their dynamic, their chemistry, everything about these two was perfect and the s*x scenes were 🔥.
Final Thoughts
This time I took my time with it and the ending destroyed me and made me cry, even if it wasn't my first time. I have so many theories right now and I cannot wait for the release of the second book The White Knight . I really need the continuation.
I have always loved the stories of King Arthur & his Knights. I was so excited to read an arc of this 21st century that meets the 5th century Arthurian tale! Guin moves to England with her father when her mother dies in an accident. When she ends her relationship with Wesley, she returns to the US to update her mother's home into a bed & and breakfast. When her uncle is ill, she returns to England to find her wedding date has been set & she will be marrying the vile Wesley. When she runs from the church, she ends up in a lake where she has found the legendary Excalibur. She then meets Lancelot, Arthur, and a few others from the famed stories. Her decisions can reshape history, and her past & present will very much remold her future.
This was a great first book with character and world building. Relationships, loyalty, and chivalry abound in Tri Drexlers' take on the legend of King Arthur & Sir Lancelot. Looking forward to the next book!
After reading A Life Unplanned last year & loving it, I couldn’t pass on reading this by Tri Drexler.
I didn’t realise how much I actually knew about the Arthurian legend but this book bought it all back.
The plot itself was original & refreshing, with easy to follow world building. It was fast paced & effortlessly draws you in. The FMC is a forced to be reckoned with.
The spice was a bit tame for me (but that’s more of a reflection of what I read than anything else

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It’s easy to give up on Camelot retellings. They’re usually too cheesy or try to move it so far to the dark side that it’s no longer a surprise if Arthur turns on his loves at the end. It’s hard to make audiences believe in Camelot in a genuine way. Of course, Excalibur is always my top choice for obvious reasons -cough Helen Mirren, but overall I love the BBC show Merlin the most. (It’s really an unfair comparison because that was a television series, and they had more time to invest in the world and the character than a film.) Regardless of poor adaptations of the King Arthur story in the past, though, I am always game for a new Camelot-inspired book.
So when Caitriona Drexler (author of A Life Unplanned) told me about her next book, a “fantasy time travel romance Arthurian retelling,” it was a no-brainer. Absolutely I want to read this.
The legend of Camelot is pretty basic at first: King of a Utopia meets Girl. Girl meets Knight. (sometimes those two are reversed). Girl loves Knight but is betrothed to King, King is sad but also kind of into the two people he loves the most also being in love, sometimes it gets weird, etc. The exciting part of retellings is how they twist and turn our preconceived notions to spin a different tale.
By letting her protagonist (Guin, of course, short for Guinevere) come from the future and so already knows the story and assumes the role she’s supposed to play, Drexler keeps her readers guessing not what will happen but when and how. I’m a big fan of this framework thanks to growing up on comedic murder mysteries in the 80s (has anyone looked into how weird that trend was?)
I had about ten different theories on how it would play out while reading this, and none of them were right! To me, that’s a great retelling. I won’t say more because it’s pretty much all spoilers, but near the end, I remembered it’s the first book in a series, and that’s great news for romance fantasy lovers!
Alternating between Guinevere and Lancelot’s points of view helped me feel more involved in their story. I was also happy to note that Drexler’s plot was much tighter than in her last outing. The characters still tend to over-explain their feelings, but that happens less once the plot gets going. I breezed through it and enjoyed every second. It also made me reconsider how I define and contextualize Camelot - it works better as a ROMANCE/fantasy rather than a FANTASY/romance.
Note the content warnings. There was one in particular that I was glad to know ahead of time, so I wasn’t surprised. ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇɴᴛ ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ: ᴇxᴘʟɪᴄɪᴛ ꜱᴇx ꜱᴄᴇɴᴇꜱ, ʀᴀᴘᴇ, ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ ᴏꜰ ᴘᴀʀᴇɴᴛ, ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ ᴏꜰ ꜱᴘᴏᴜꜱᴇ, ᴅᴇᴘʀᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴ
Time travel, magic, fated mates, and an epic retelling. Loved this story so much!
Tropes: Arthurian retelling Time traveling heroine Fated mates Dual POV
If you are familiar with the legend of King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot, then you go into this story with a few expectations. However, even with those expectations, you'll be taken on an unexpected journey.
You get a bit of Guin's life in her modern life in present-day times. So much so you get comfortable thinking you are reading a contemporary friends to lovers romance. The author had me good! Then the real story began...
Once Guin is thrust into Arthurian times, you get a glimpse of the world she was expected to now survive in as the White Enchantress and the bearer of the sword Excalibur. Even though Guin knows of the legend surrounding King Arthur, she vows to change the story in order to avoid the downfall of Camelot... unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan.
My only complaint is that it ended on a cliffhanger, and the story moves so fast. I wanted more of these characters and emerse myself in their world. The fantasy part of the book could have used more world building, in my opinion, but only because I love having all those extra details, so I feel like I'm in another world.
Overall, I loved this story. It was creative and built things up for a good fantasy series. I will just have to impatiently wait for the next installment 😭
Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and offered voluntarily.
Trigger/Content warnings: Physical abuse, death of a parent, sexual content (minimal details), sexual assault/rape (on page/minimumal details), violence, injury details
I’m not generally a lover of fantasy storytelling and knew nothing other than, “King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table,” before reading this book. But Ms. Drexler thoroughly peaked my interest enough that I went looking for the Cliffnotes version of the legend as I read her retelling. I like how Guin travelled in time without any of the typical catalysts used for time travel, and that at the end of the day, Guin was the same woman in the 6th century as in the 21st. That she told the one she loved her whole truth and trusted he’d still love her. And that—it seems—the legend may still be intact even with the changing of a major detail in the beginning. And with that cliffhanger....I’ll be back to find out how. I definitely recommend this book if you like the fantasy genre and fiction retellings.
If you love Outlander and tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, this is the series for you! This is book One from the Songs of Another Time series.
Available Now on Kindle Unlimited!! Also available in paperback through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Okay let’s run the checklist, and the rating scale and I will let you go so you can get this book: ✅ strong female lead. ✅ sexy, male leads that make you swoon, hard. ✅ Hot sexy times that are perfectly sprinkle throughout the story. ✅ fun new world, with great details that I can visually see. ✅ gut wrenching moments that have you grabbing the tissues. ✅ exceeds the synopsis in the best way.
I give this book a 5/5⭐️ and a 3/5 one the spicy sexy scale 🌶️🥵.
An energetic blend of steamy romance and time travel fantasy Isn't this cover gorgeous? When I read the concept for The White Enchantress, I was intrigued. Guinevere, a time traveler? After reading the novel, I can vouch that the execution does not disappoint. Filled with twists and turns, cute romantic moments, fantastical beings, and Arthurian lore, this novel is perfect for lovers of fantasy who also enjoy a steamy and well-developed romance.
We have all heard the stories of Camelot. King Arthur, Sir Lancelot and of course Guinevere. This Camelot story is Magnificent. Guinevere from the future, she travels back 1500 years. Guinevere and Lancelot have a Love like no other and are pulled towards each other. This book is Adventurous and Entertaining. I Love how the modern Guinevere talks to Lancelot and King Arthur, makes me laugh out loud. Looking forward to book 2 in the series, Songs of Another Time.
I was delighted to receive an ARC of The White Enchantress by Caitriona Drexler. After reading the synopsis I knew I had to read it straight away.
This is a enchanting time slip novel. Think Outlander meets Arthurian legend. The modern day Guinevere falls through time into Avalon, where there are magical swords, knights and dragons.
I love that Guinevere is a strong female character and knows exactly what she wants. She knows the legend and is determined to see it play out her way. You'll have to read the book to find out how that works out.
There is plenty of Spice in this book and definitely recommend you check the trigger warnings before reading.
I'm very much looking forward to book 2 in this series.
I was able to meet with the author and how she explained the book was just as it was. I love history and this new age , time travel, romance.... had all the feels. I finished the book in just a few days and even since I have moved on to other books I am still thinking of this book. Her writing of the charters feelings is very relatable. Only 4 starts for me because it is a series. I have tried to get away from them and much rather a standalone. In this case I may just have to purchase the next two books. Thanks for the adventure!
"My wife, my love, my life. Ripped from her time to fall in my arms."
What an amazing book. I am a sucker for a retelling of any kind, but i have never read one like this before. The world building was absolutely phenomenal. The descriptions of both the modern world and of sixth century England made me feel as though i was actually in the book! The character development was really good. Guinevere has been through so much in her short life, and then she is thrust 1500 years into the past and discovers that she is 'The Guinevere' from the legends. When she meets Lancelot, she is instantly drawn to him, and Lancelot feels the same pull.
"The lust I feel toward her is powerful, but the love I hold in my heart for this woman will never be anything less than pure."
Lancelot is everything Guinevere could have asked for. He is kind and caring and takes everything she tells him about the future in his stride. That man is head over heals for Guin, and the feeling is definitely mutual.
"Kissing Guin is spiritual, mystical, magical. One of those or maybe all of them at once. She fills my soul with hers. Her desires become mine."
This book is action-packed from the very beginning. I was so desperate to find out what would happen next, but I had to force myself to slow down and enjoy the book!!
The ending was WOW!!! I need the next part of this story, like I need my next breath.
"Guinevere has transformed my lonely heart and sinful soul. With her, I am loved, I am light. I cannot go back to not loving her. My life would be meaningless without her in it."
I’m always a sucker for an Arthurian tale and this one was a doozy. Basically it’s a time traveling retell of the tragic triangle that is Guinevere, Lancelot & Arthur, with Gwen being an heiress from the present day called thru time by the power of Excalibur.
All the players from the varied legends are there, but, many are not exactly what or who the legends describe. Avalon is still the mystic isle but Morgana and Vivianne are not the temptresses but priestess’s of the Isle. Excalibur is sentient and has a will of it’s own and Guinevere is dead set on NOT destroying King Arthur’s kingdom by falling for either him OR Lancelot.
There’s a lot going on with Gwen’s life in the present day. Her Cinderella-esque upbringing with a half-sister that hates her and her father’s wife that despises her and everything the pair of them do to express that hatred. A devious ex that is dead set on trapping her in a loveless marriage and her falling (HARD) for her best friend without falling thru time to become the most famous women in a disastrous love triangle.
The story ends rather abruptly . . . 2nd book in the wings perhaps? trilogy??? All I know is I really want to see where the story ends up? With Camelot in ruins? or maybe ‘this’ Guinevere can escape that fate, but where? In the misty past of legend? or back in the time she came from?
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Step into a world where Camelot meets Outlander in a spicy retelling of a classic with a twist. This book got me back into reading, and I didn't just like it, I loved it. A must-read for all fantasy and romance enthusiasts!
An incredible retelling of Arthurian legend, such a unique plot and storytelling. I finished this book within a day. Absolutely loved it.
✅The first chapter had me hooked. ✅Guin is a feisty girl not some damsel in distress. ✅ The spice scenes in this book were just fantastic🥵
💭I really really don’t know whether to trust Arthur😫. A part of me wants to believe the legends that he is a kind, selfless king but I just don’t know.
💭God what happened to Guins mum broke me, I really really felt sorry for her. Specially when she had to deal with her awful stepmom and sister!!!
💭Lancelot was to die for, loved him and I would definitely wanna marry that guy😍😍. Broody, charming and Dammmm sexy!!!
❌ That last chapter, I hate that we are left hanging with a bloody cliffhanger 😭😭😭😭😭
I would recommend reading if you like: 📚 Retelling 📚 A Book that has you hooked from the first chapter 📚 A good sprinkle of 🌶️🌶️ 📚 Fast-paced and good world building
I picked this up because the author was signing at my local Barnes and Noble. My cousin and I struck up a chat with her after BaconFest.
This is a retelling of the Arthur legend in a way I don’t think many people may have thought. I love the time travel. I love that you are rooting for Guin the entire time because of what Wesley did to her and what it brought her too. Can’t wait to read the next two.
If you like time travel romance and Arthurian legends, this one is for you! A fun twist on the Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot story, this one has a good amount of spice for those who love the sultry scenes. The ending was an emotional twist and begs the reader to continue the series!
I am glad I received an ARC of this book. I normally don’t read historical fantasy/romance fantasy, but this book has motivated me to continue reading different genres. This book is unique because it’s not only historical fantasy, but specifically an Arthurian retelling with time travel. I don’t know much about the legend of King Arthur but that didn’t affect my reading experience. I was curious to learn more.
I liked the main character, Guin, as she is strong and yearns to be more independent. I like when main characters have a good balance of being strong yet empathetic. Even though her father has many expectations for her, she has her own goals and takes steps to accomplish them. It was interesting to see how she adapted to her new environment when she traveled back in time. The author did a great job at making the book fast paced and slowing it down, to better understand Guin’s feelings and to get to know the other characters. Another thing I liked is the dual POV, as we can see how Guin and her love interest, Lancelot, fall for each other. Their love is intense and the author describes their thoughts and feelings beautifully.
Even though there are heavy moments that could trigger someone, the author is able to move the story forward. I appreciate that we can see Guin and Lancelot as a happy couple for a while. In many books we don't see the couple in many “domestic bliss” moments, especially books that have action/suspense in the plot. There were even some funny moments since Guin sometimes forgets she is in the past and confuses others. I recommend this book if you want to read something different and intense, with a couple that is very passionate. You will be intrigued, waiting to see what happens next. The ending will make you be on the edge of your seat, but the story continues in Book 2. I am looking forward to it!
Another Arthurian series about time travel where Guinevere is pulled into the past, but this time she's the daughter of a British Earl and is born and raised in New Jersey.
I got the feeling while reading this novel that the author was American - the dialogue was written very much like how Americans sometimes think British people speak. Were I not reading this book for the Arthurian aspect the clunky dialogue would have made me DNF.
Despite that I really enjoyed the new twist on Excalibur as an ethereal being who possesses Guinevere and pulls her back in time, imbuing her with all its power. Thus resulting in a situation where King Arthur feels he should marry her but knows his best friend and cousin Sir Lancelot is in love with her instead.
The moment Lancelot is introduced we get some pretty explicit thoughts from him about Guinevere which was a bit jarring. The book is told from two POVs - Guinevere and Lancelot's.
I kept reading because of the shake up on the legends, Arthur taking a step back so Guinevere and Lancelot can explore their relationship instead.
I'm giving this two stars because the situation Guinevere was in before she travelled was just so unrealistic - it got to HER WEDDING DAY and she went TO HER WEDDING DAY and put on HER WEDDING DRESS when she had no intention of marrying her abusive ex-boyfriend who was never her fiancé - why was she there? I don't even know.
When I was first offered this book as an ARC read, I was beside myself. Outlander meets Camelot. Two of my favourite obsessions brought together in a new series.
Now don’t get me wrong, I figured a retelling of Arthurian lore would be just that. But this was so far off track, I was delightfully surprised and so glad that it was not what I was expecting.
In “The White Enchantress” Drexler introduces us two timelines; the present, and 1500 years before. Our heroine has two lives to navigate through and Camelot is where she ends up.
Guin is a time traveling FMC that is not your typical damsel in distress. She is strong and quickly adapts to the life she has been dealt with Excalibur by her side. Lancelot is loyal and chivalrous, he is torn between duty and passion. Arthur is a well loved king, who in turn truly cares for his subjects and more importantly those close to him.
This unique retelling is full of plot twists and turns. It is a fast paced dual POV tale with Guin trying to out maneuver Camelot’s doomed fate.
Could not put this down, and can hardly wait for the second book. So glad to be on the ARC team!!!
“I was given this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review”
I almost gave this one four stars, but there was a lot of conversation and extra words that bogged down the story.
This story reminded me of an Arthurian version of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander. The elements of past and modern never really blend well, remaining rather disjointed as the main characters suddenly remembers and expounds on bits of her past/future. But in addition to the main character's story we have her mother's and father's stories, which may be seen as a parallel to her story as it unfolds-- both in love and in nobility.
The main character is a in her early 20s, so the book is a new adult time-traveling romance/fantasy and while I didn't always like different aspects of the story (the ease with which the main character dismisses major trauma, how she flaunts her modern technology and solar-charges her cell phone, and how she creates pizza in Arthurian days), I very much enjoyed the book.
Try as I might, I’ve never been big on the whole fantasy genre, but this, this one is an exception. This is the second book I’ve read by Caitriona Drexler and I can’t wait for the next one! I don’t know how, but she has this way of pulling me into a book despite being a theme that isn’t typically one that grabs my interest. The book is pretty fast paced, has enjoyable characters, has some spice and while fantasy isn’t my typical go to, I’m a huge sucker for King Arthur storylines. There is a cliffhanger in this one, so be prepared for the anxiety of having to wait. Please be mindful of the trigger warnings. Caitriona, you are a very talented writer and I can’t wait to read more of your work. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for the next book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
I purchased a physical book, in person, from the author. This was a really fun concept. Kudos to the author for a great premise. I also think the author is a very talented storyteller. Now, about the book... Present day Guin finds herself in a predicament as she runs away from her own wedding. Falling into a lake, she finds herself in past, during Arthurian legend times. Whoa. As it turns out, the Guinevere from legend is actually a time traveler. Fun idea! Armed with the knowledge of what is to come, Guin decides to rewrite her own history. After she meets Lancelot, sparks fly and... ;) I can't give this one away. You'll have to read for yourself. Such a fun concept!
This book is a fast, easy read and is an Arthurian retelling with Cinderella vibes. I like how strong the FMC, Guin, is. I also feel sorry for her. She goes through a lot.
The author did a fantastic job blending the fact that Guin is from modern-day, and the incongruency with the time she's stuck in. The differences in speech patterns and values are meant to be clashing and jarring (though I do think she swears a bit much).
I felt a little lost with how fast-paced everything was, and I was hoping that there would be a bit more clarity by the end of the book about what Guin needs to do next considering she's stuck in time.
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this gem for an honest review, and was really excited about it. Let me just say, it blew my already high expectations out of the water. This story was AMAZING and captivated me till the end. I couldn't put it down, which is somewhat rare for me to be so engaged in a read these days.
The plot was very intriguing and fast-paced. I loved the immersion into the past while still experiencing flashbacks and seeing more of the modern world. It was perfect, enjoyable, and an easy read.
The characters were fantastic. I am not normally a fan of the pairing within this story, but this Arthurian retelling really did it right, and I was rooting for the couple right up till the very end! I loved Josh's character, and there's so much I want to say but am trying to keep this review spoiler-free. 🙃
Be prepared: it is a mature read, with lots of spice, but it's a great one, and I highly recommend it!
As a lover of medieval things and the show Merlin, this book was a fun read. It had a dash of Cinderella with the evil stepmother and stepsister in the beginning but we quickly jump back into time to the legend of Excalibur. This isn't the legend you've read before and instead of the sword being trapped in stone, I found it interesting that it was instead bonded to Guinevere herself. I didn't see the ending coming but thankfully the next two books in the series are already released!
