The Deveraux clan is a powerful and imposing New Orleans family. So when Maya Simpson married the eldest son, Julian Deveraux, the union quickly succumbed to the social pressures surrounding the young couple. Convinced of her husband's infidelity, Maya filed for divorce and later learned that she was pregnant.
Four years later, Maya, now a successful physician, runs into her former sister-in-law who insists on reuniting her and Julian, and the daughter he doesn't know exists. Set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina, will the reunion bring the family together or tear them apart?
I am not sure how this Schuster novel slipped by me. In true Melanie fashion, it funny, witty, a little suspenseful and just a good read. Loved catching up with some of the old characters. Not sure why she slipped off the scene, but Melanie I miss you.
I simple loved this book, when I finished felt kinda sad cause I wanted more. I especially loved the relationship between the Judge and Ruth. They give hope to us middle aged folk. They were like a fine wine. I am so glad there wasn't a bunch of drama before they could get to the meat of their relationship. Julian and Maya were meant to be together and I am so happy their reunion wasn't long and drawn out. Ms Schuster cut to the chase with both of these stories, which why I love her writing so much. You don't have to endure endless love/hate drama before these characters become a couple. Although this is part of the Cochran/Devereau stories, you won't feel lost reading this story first, however I guarantee once you've finished it you are gonna want to read the others in the series too! In my opinion this is a MUST read book, not just once but twice and maybe more. I have other favorite authors, however Ms Schuster tops my list........I'M A FAN FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!
A double romance can make a happy ending even better than one. But there is something that can make it better and that is a beautiful child with spunk and fortitude.
Corey makes that lives of all involved more interesting. The Julian's cultivate a loving relationship and make it all better and right for their world. All this and a huge storm to put the wills to a test
I have to agree the back of the book was a little deceptive. But it was still a good read and you got two romances for the price of one. And boy do those Deveraux men know how romance and sex a woman up. I enjoy reading about all of them and their loves.
