Gemini Group #2

Jamesons Erlösung

Rate this book

Another suspenseful romance read in this series.

Jameson and Kennedy were strong characters, they had been through a lot, had a an enjoyable banter and together were a lovely couple.

The concept was similar to the previous one, insta attraction, development of feelings, the heroine was in great danger and the hero rescued her.
Also, I was not thrilled of the author using - in both books - third person for the hero’s pov and first person for the heroine’s.

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

🎧 PERFORMANCE: 5 STARS
📚 STORY: 4 STARS

PERFORMANCE REVIEW:

It took me a minute to get used to the third person / first person flip between the male and female narrators, but it was honestly just a blip in my listening experience. It’s just a factual circumstance in this audio so I thought I’d mention it. Joe and Erin are two of my favorite narrators and they worked spectacularly well in this performance! There were a few times when I had to pause and rewind to make sure *who* Joe was narrating because his voice sounded too close to that of Jameson’s, but again, s mall blip :)

STORY REVIEW:

About the story … I found it to be realistic to small-town shenanigans but there is a lot happening in this story. There are a lot of players to keep track of and there were times I was truly lost on who was who but it the grand scheme, the details (especially names) didn’t really factor into my overall understanding and enjoyment of the story as a whole.

There’s a good balance between romance and suspense in the story, but I wish the balance would have tipped more to the romance. Jameson and Kennedy both had strong independent personalities. Both were set in their ways sorta speak and when that happens, it stands to reason that there should be some apprehension or rather push from the leads, and there was, at first, and then I blinked and BAM, walls are crumbled, and everyone is good. I know that sounds vague and probably doesn’t make much sense to those who haven’t read the story, but basically, for two people who were stubborn, headstrong and thought they needed no one to get thru life, they blew that all out of the water for each other in less then a minute (figuratively speaking of course). I wasn’t comfortable with that and throw in their horrible communication skills and I was hard pressed to believe these to would be “till death do us part” … *shrug*

There is a lot to enjoy about this story. The Gemini Group and Riley Edwards are fast becoming an addiction for me, and I can’t wait to read / listen to more of their stories or any other stories Riley had penned or will pen!

So this gem is the second book in Riley Edwards new series Gemini Group and considering book 1 rocked my world, let me just say book two? Totally put me on another planet. So here I am, sitting on Mars. Or maybe Pluto? Jupiter?? Who knows! This book and series have been a work of genius. Pure, unadulterated goodness from beginning to end. Let me tell you why I say this...

Remember the broody bad boy of your youth (think Dylan McKay). He had the looks, the attitude and just enough snark that made you want to swoon. You knew he fought for the underdog but never boasted about helping. You knew he didn't have a good childhood but still had morals. That's Jameson Grant. He doesn't have a use for the general populous. He's learned firsthand that letting people in only led to hurt and betrayal. The only people he trusted were his "brothers". For them, he would gladly sacrifice everything.

Kennedy Lane isn't a wilting violet. Life has definitely dolled out some hard knocks for her but she just takes them on the chin and keeps on going. You'll love her sass and no bs attitude. She's definitely no Pollyanna but she is sooo making lemonade out the lemons life has given her. Running into Jameson Grant when seeking help from her old friend Nixon is not a hardship. But can her 'go with the flow' attitude wear down some of Jameson's hard edges?

I couldn't help but fall in love with Jameson & Kennedy's story. There was so much detail and thought in this book. The backstory to understand the characters, the reasoning on why they are how they are. All of that combined with a great story, humor and kickin' characters made book 2 just as good if not better than book 1. But seeing as the books unfold the WHOLE story of this enigmatic group, I can't wait to see what the following books bring.

If you read my review of book one, you know that I included a PSA at the end. Heed that announcement. Heck copy it and make a sign out of it. I am thinking that PSA will be integral to ALL the books in this series. Hunker down. Hold on. And prepare for lift-off!

Badly written page turner

It’s a (very) long time ago I thoroughly enjoyed a book that’s so badly written.
* the book switches from first person (for Kennedy) to third person (for Jameson). Even if it’s on purpose, it’s bad writing.
* the book is littered with cliches (like ‘I felt ten feet tall’).
* lots of telling.

But what bugged me the most is the inconsistency between character descriptions and how they talk.
* Jameson is the silent, broody type but when he speaks it’s in multiple paragraphs long lyrical sentences.
* cheery, outgoing Kennedy barely speaks three sentences in a row, but we’re in her head all the time.

The good parts:
* story is suspenseful and engaging, a page turner.
* characters are likable and strong. The men all Alpha protectors and the women smart and sassy.

This is a fun, be it slightly repetitive series - a little action, a little steam and some small time escape, love it all.

I’ve had this one in my library for a while, and i decided now was a good time to read it.
To see if it was as good as the first....
And i have to say that, even though i didn’t like it as much, the storyline was good.
Let me explain.

There was something about the writing that didn’t feel consistent with the characters.
But at the same time,i did like those characters.
I couldn’t really put my finger on the exact problem, but it didn’t bother me enough to dislike the story.
Because with all that was happening, and with the h and H’s background,i still enjoyed reading it.
And when i was finished,i was left with a good feeling.
Satisfied with what i’d read.
It had a good balance between the heat and the suspense. And as i said, the storyline was good.
Will i read more of this series?
I might.....

Just like book 1, I struggled with this. The written style wasn't for me BUT I did enjoy this better than book 1, so I am glad I took another chance
This story was about Kennedy and Jameson and was full of heat but it also had that push and pull angsty feeling with the characters that I love so much.

3 stars!

Narration type: Dual Narration

🦸🏼‍♀️ Heroine: Kennedy Lane

Kennedy Lane isn’t just holding onto her land—she’s holding onto her autonomy. When slick developer Reggie Coleman sets his sights on her 50 acres, he’s not prepared to deal with a woman who won’t be bullied. Reggie’s tactics are textbook misogyny: bypass the woman, find a man, and push a deal that benefits him alone. Kennedy’s response? A firm “get lost.” Knowing she needs leverage, she reaches out to her old friend Nixon, now running a PI firm, hoping to dig up enough dirt to make Reggie back off for good.

🦸🏻‍♂️ Hero: Jameson Grant

Jameson Grant is a former Navy SEAL who’s seen the worst of humanity—and now wants nothing to do with most of it. No PTSD, no nightmares, just a deep craving for silence and solitude. His inner circle is tight: his SEAL brothers and their loved ones. Everyone else is background noise. Cliff City offers the quiet he craves, and Nixon’s farmhouse becomes his refuge. But when Kennedy walks into his life, all that detachment starts to crack.

🔥 Plot Snapshot

Kennedy’s visit to Nixon’s farm brings her face-to-face with Jameson—the same man she’d awkwardly fumbled in front of weeks earlier, while covered in dust and sweat. He’s the kind of hot that makes you forget how to speak, but to her surprise, he’s not just easy on the eyes—he’s willing to help. Their banter is sharp, funny, and unexpectedly intimate. For Jameson, who usually finds people exhausting, Kennedy is a rare exception. She’s the first woman in a long time who makes him want to stay in the conversation.

❤️‍🔥 What Worked

• Jameson’s jealousy when his teammates flirt with Kennedy? Deliciously subtle and satisfying.
• The land dispute plot adds real stakes. Reggie Coleman is the kind of villain who doesn’t just bend the law—he snaps it. The Gemini Group’s investigation brings tension and intrigue.
• The intimate scenes are steamy but balanced. There’s heat, yes, but it’s grounded in emotional connection and story progression. No gratuitous filler—just the right amount of sizzle.

🤨 Room for More

• Jameson’s late-stage anger about his childhood felt a bit shoehorned in. It didn’t deepen the story or his arc—it just momentarily pulled focus from the central romance.

🎧 Narration Vibes

Dual POV narration by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon? A dream team. Arden’s gravelly, expressive delivery nails Jameson’s brooding intensity, while Mallon brings Kennedy’s intelligence and warmth to life with pitch-perfect character voices. The series’ emphasis on the hero’s perspective is a refreshing twist in the romance genre—and it works beautifully here.

📝 Final Thoughts

This audiobook blends heat, heart, and suspense with a heroine who refuses to be sidelined and a hero who learns that solitude isn’t the same as peace. With stellar narration and a plot that keeps you hooked, it’s a satisfying listen from start to finish.

A solid 3.5 🌟

Enjoying this series. Group of retired seals that are more like family finding their female counterparts. This book and the first one seem to follow a pattern. Hero and heroine meet and butt heads but eventually fall in love. The heroine finds herself in trouble and needing help so of course the men all step up and help. While it sounds kind of predictable, I have really enjoyed reading these stories. They have kept me wanting to turn the page and entertained without over the top drama. I will definitely continue with this series.

The dynamic between Jameson and Kennedy is absolutely beautiful and raw. You could feel the desperation in Jameson's love for her. Kennedy's fearless passion ignites the pages. Her devotion to Jameson is intoxicating. Once again Riley Edwards has not only told a story that grabs your attention but speaks to your soul. There is so much reality and honesty in her writing.

Jameson’s Salvation is the second book in the Gemini Group Series. I was already hooked after Nixon’s Promise and Jameson and Kennedy’s story didn’t let me down.

“He was a little gruff and a whole lot short, but there was something about his grumpy attitude that made me want to make him smile…”

The story was completely engaging, a perfect blend of sweet, heat and suspense.

“The woman was incendiary.
And his plan to take things slow had gone up in smoke.”

I read this mostly on audiobook and really enjoyed the narration. Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are fast becoming a favorite duo to listen to. I can’t wait to start on the next book in this series.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon was (of course) fantastic!

This second story in this romantic suspense series was packed full of mystery, action, danger, friendship and romance. It literally just flew by for me. Jameson is an alpha, but was learning to show his vulnerable side. Kennedy was very strong willed as well, but loved her man well. One of my favorite parts was when Jameson was basically begging Kennedy to stop trying to go against medical advice because the thought of something else going wrong with her was too much for him. I loved how she had to stop and consider his feelings and go against her own. Awesome moment!

Thanks to Valentine PR for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

**I read this as part of the Gemini Group Boxset.

4.5 stars

This might be one of my favorites from this author. There was something special about the characters. I absolutely loved Kennedy. LOVED her. I loved that she wasn't afraid of hard work and that she did so many things because she wasn't afraid to work hard by being creative in how she survived. They were all things that I wished that I could do, well, except maybe the bees to make honey because I am allergic to those.

Her connection with Jamison was special. I loved how well-suited they were. They both were what each other needed to see in order to put themselves out there. I loved her history with Nixon and his dad and how they both shaped her to be the woman that she was. The climax of this scene hit me hard. Her words in those moments where she knew that McKenna and Jameson could hear them hit me in all the feelings.

My only real gripe with anything that this author writes is that there is no real epilogue. It is a HFN and picks right up in the next book. I understand why she does that, but it still leaves me wishing for more.

Looking forward to Weston and Silver's story next. I highly recommend this series and this author.

Love this Author’s books so much and love Jameson and Kennedy’s story.
Kennedy is an amazing heroine. She’s strong and independent. But she’s also sweet and trustful.
Jameson.. broody and alpha. Trusts no one and never smiles. I love all Riley’s alpha males, but Jameson is my new favorite.
The chemistry between them is explosive. Loved to see Jameson changing and become a different man.
And omg the suspense and angst. I was on the edge of my seat and yes, that scene made me cry.
The storyline is amazing. A page turner and so many emotions while reading it.
And the guys of Gemini Group..love them. The brotherhood and how they included Kennedy is one of their own. They are amazing and can’t wait to read their books. Next is Weston and Silver and by the little taste we got I know it’s going to be awesome.

The best part of this one was Jameson and Kennedy. I liked that Kennedy wasn't a girly girly, she knew who she was and was good with it. Jameson wasn't quite sure what to do about Kennedy, mostly because he didn't do relationships and his feelings for Kennedy weren't what he was used to. Then you throw in the trouble Kennedy had and things were all sorts of fun to read about. Once Jameson let himself like/love Kennedy things were great between them, they were working towards ferreting out the trouble in Kennedy's life.

I hated how the trouble ramped up, how Kennedy's livelihood was taken away, but I most especially hated the last car ride. The way that Kennedy talked to McKenna was both comforting and so very bad. I was so happy when the guys showed up in time to save her, which lead to Jameson and Kennedy find their HEA, which was very deserved!

I'm done with this author. The first book in this series was good EXCEPT for some highly misogynistic parts. I was hoping the misogyny would not be present in this second book.

Sadly, this book was crappy and even more misogynistic.

These books have a gross amount of claiming of females. Men calling each other bitches and pussies when they show weakness. Women are constantly cooking food for these men. And women are repeatedly told to stay home while the men go do dangerous "man" stuff.

These male characters move beyond "protecting" females into "owning" females. Men can be Alpha by being strong, protective, smart, and decisive. But Alpha quickly becomes Asshole when these make characters discount women's opinions, abilities, and when they show over-the-top jealousy and control over the lives of the female characters.

This book was composed just like the first: Hero’s chapters were in third person, and heroine’s were in first person, switching it up every chapter was intolerable and took me out of the flow.
The storyline followed the first as well: insta-love/lust, problem - caused by a real estate developer using extortion to get ahead - , the Gemini group steps in, HEA.

This time I had a problem with the Gemini group, for IT savvy people and former Seals they acted really dumb:

There were too many inner monologues in both H and h's head.

I really like the dynamics on the Gemini Group. First Nixon came home found his HEA and started the Gemini Group. Jameson was really a mystery in Nixon's Promise, but he had a lot more potential as a hero that I saw at first. Riley Edwards takes story telling to a page turning romp. The POV changes from third person when Jameson is narrator to first person for Kennedy. I wasn't sure I liked it in Nixon's Promise, but it really works well in this book. I can't wait for the other team members to find their HEA.

Another Brilliant Story & Listen! Gripping & Heartfelt!

Jameson’s Salvation
Gemini Group, Book 2
By: Riley Edwards
Narrated by: Joe Arden, Erin Mallon

Move over Nixon, I have a new man in my life, and his name is Jameson and like the first book in this series, “Nixon’s Promise” Riley Edwards keeps up the same momentum and blows me away again with another amazing romantic suspense and this book is just as captivating as the first. Ms. Edwards created something very special, the Gemini Group, former navy seals who continue to work together and do what they do best, solve problems, work cases and help the good guys put the bad ones away, justice served, Seal style. Jameson Grant, the cynic and loner of the team, he does not let anyone, other than his comrades in arms, get close to him. But when Kennedy Lane walked into his life, he met his match and as much as he wanted to stay away and he tried, he could not. Kennedy is being bullied by a greedy developer to sell her family home and property to him, he is doing everything in his power to bring her to the brink of bankruptcy and will have no choice but to sell. She heard her old friend Nixon, started a company that does investigations, so she turns to him to get dirt on the person who is making her life a struggle and living nightmare. Nixon and his group do a lot more than simple investigations, they have some great connections and they are happy to help her. Jameson and Kennedy bonk heads right from the start, the chemistry between them is electric, the back-and-forth bickering was something else too. I loved these two together and for each other and it was great to watch the big bad alpha fall for the hardheaded, independent farm girl. This fast moving, action-packed story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some steamy romance. Riley Edwards, thank you for another brilliant story and the thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride, that scene in the car gutted me. I am looking forward to what comes next for the wonderful men of the Gemini Group.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Erin Mallon and Joe Arden continue to deliver an outstanding performance, bringing these characters and their story to life, giving each a voice that grasps their personality to a tee. They have a complete understanding of the roles they are playing and I love how they take each role, run with it and make it their own, sounding believable in every role they play. Erin Mallon plays Kennedy’s role with perfection, capturing all her sides, her strength, stubbornness and her caring side. Joe Arden’s Jameson was spot on, grumpy and all, fierce too. Both were great at performing the roles of all the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to, their narration enhances this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Wow, this was so thrilling, suspenseful, and steamy! I was so intrigued by Kennedy and Jameson's story, and how two strong independent people can connect and become stronger and more passionate together. Kennedy needs help from The Gemini Group to help save her home and business from being destroyed. Things keep happening around her causing havoc in her life and even threatening it. Jameson wants to protect her and find out who is behind all the destruction, but he never planned on falling for the beautiful, determined Kennedy. Kennedy soon falls for the bossy, broody man as well, and their fiery chemistry is explosive. But they are in a race against time as the destruction is increasing and their lives are in danger as well. This is a fast paced, gripping story, and an exciting and steamy romance with plot twists that will have you on edge trying to figure out what will happen next. My heart broke over both of their pasts, but it made them the strong, smart, protective, and passionate people they are today.
Joe Arden, and Erin Mallon were so perfect as Jameson and Kennedy. They nailed all the characters so completely, making me see, and understand them so clearly, and helping me to empathize with them as well. They made this story even more exciting! This is my first listen to author Riley Edward's work, and I loved this heart-pounding, and steamy romance.

The first two books in this series have both made my ‘romantic suspense heart’ very happy!! We get a very close knit band of brothers (former SEALs), Uber protective, possessive bad ass alphas, strong, capable and feisty women, a thrilling suspense plot, a couple of damsel in distress moments, no unnecessary drama, sugary sweet romance (love it when a super alpha man goes all soft for a woman) and some scorching spice! Jameson is top tier book boyfriend material (after he gets his head out of his ass 😅) and I loved Kennedy and how capable and independent she was. Off to read book three right now!
