After Sophie Mariano disappeared, I took the perfect life she left behind—the spot on the cheer squad, the friends, and the gorgeous boyfriend.
But now Sophie’s brother, Miles, is back, and he’s looking for his missing sister. He’s staying with his grandma in my duplex, which means there’s nothing but a door separating us each night. I should be afraid of him—everyone thinks he killed his sister. But I’m not afraid of Miles. I’m afraid of how much I want him.
There is one person I’m afraid of, though: whoever’s sending me creepy, anonymous messages and photos. They’re following me around town, to work, to my house. According to Miles, the same thing happened to Sophie before she disappeared. Whoever was stalking her is now stalking me.
The DMs escalate to vandalism, blackmail, break-ins, and death threats. My stalker wants to ruin my life. They want to break me. They want me dead. If Miles and I don’t figure out what happened to Sophie and who’s been stalking us both …
I’ll be the next girl to disappear.
For fans of Gilmore Girls and Punk 57, this bad boy next door romantic suspense is brimming with intrigue, twists, and a steamy love triangle that will keep readers guessing and gasping late into the night.
I have waited FOREVER for a book that even has Gilmore Girl vibes, let alone is an actual GG retelling, and now Harmony West delivers me this masterpiece. Even though some details are changed like character names and the town, it is completely obvious who everyone is supposed to be. There are moments you read that are a total callback to season two and three moments and it made my heart flutter just thinking about it. And then the SPICY SCENES between Rory and Jess cough cough I mean Miles and Maddie, were just SO beautiful and well done and its what we ALL wanted. (Not looking you at you Rory/Dean fans. Seriously, beat it.) For a recap, last year Sophie Mariano disappeared without a trace. Everyone suspects her brother Miles murdered her and his reappearance in town and as a neighbor shakes things up for Maddie. Miles was her first love, but now she has a new life and personality...Sophie's. She has her spot on the cheer squad, her friends, and even Jordan--the town's Golden Boy. Everything she has starts to crumble she starts to get messages from a stalker. Miles reveals its the same stalker Sophie has and now Maddie doesn't know who to trust. Everyone seems like suspect and the one person she trusts most is the one person everyone blames. *Gilmore Girl Retelling *Stalking/obsession *boy next door *who dunnit
SERIOUSLY I cannot stop thinking of this book. I couldn't while I was reading it and I certainly can't ever. Everything was done sooooo well. The suspense. The spice. The build up, the slow born. The closet scene? Like HELLO. And the Gilmore Girl characters are rewritten perfectly.
If you're like me and have waited forever for a Gilmore Girl book, do read this! Suspense/thrillers usually aren't my vibe but this one was so worth it. You'll easily get lost in the story and romance. Plus, Maddie has a bookshelf organized by spice level and wants to move to New York to be a book publisher.
Here are some of my fave quotes: "I won't touch you anywhere until you ask me." -Miles
"But, I can't deny it anymore--I want Miles Mariano. I want to travel to an alternate dimension where Jordan doesn't exist and ride Miles all night until I'm screaming just so I can get it out of my system." - Maddie
"If any human could be classified as a drug, it would be him." - Maddie
"Because I don't just love fucking Miles Mariano. I love everything about him. I love him." -Maddie
This book was a really good new adult mystery. I found myself yelling at Madalyn a lot but I guess that’s because I cared, which is so much better than being indifferent. This book definitely hooked me in pretty quickly. I really liked the way Harmony West structured the story and kept us in the dark about certain past events.
I enjoyed the book! I definitely figured most of the mystery out before everyone else in the book but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story.
It was a realistic portrayal of the loneliness, confusion, self-identification and changes that a newly eighteen year old would go through.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, a bit of romance and young adult stories. (18+)
Sorry but this was so bad. A weird Gilmore Girls and Pretty Little Liars crossover but just the worst parts from both of them. I was not even sure if I was supposed to like Madalyn the main character.
This is such a good book. I loved the twists in it. I also loved that the main character was going through the emotions and doubts that someone 18 really would be going through.
If you LOVED Gilmore Girls as much as I did, then this book is for you. The author does a great job of giving little shout-outs to the show, but still making this story her own.
Turned out I finished it faster than I thought I would.
How should I say the things I want to say without being mean? Like I never want to upset authors cuz I know they see their books as their babies. And writing books is damn hard! Yet... This was the worst book I've read this year, probably the previous year as well. The only good thing about this book is that it's a fast read but nothing more.
Someone recommended this to me because I'm in my "You" phase right now and stalking/obsession is a really interesting topic especially when you also add a bit of love for books and misunderstood boys with dark hair who also love to read. BUT the plot is so obvious and easy to read that I think everyone knows who the villain is (I don't want to give any spoilers so let's settle for a 'villain') within 5 minutes... Well, everyone expects the main girl who is so idiotic, toxic and literally pathetic that my mind and dignity wanted to give up on me every 5 pages. I swear, I've read better build characters in fanfics, bad & cringe ones may I add.
I need to stop now because I'm already harsh and I really don't want to upset anyone. If you love this book that's great! I'm really happy for you! But if you are like me you have to fight hard to find the lost brain cells after reading this book and that's simply not okay. I wish this was the case where something is so bad you kind of like it cuz it's funny but nope (yes, you may pop the "P" at the end to be more dramatic), it's the kind of bad where you wish to forget or you will get a headache from the stupidity and rolling your eyes so hard.
I wish I could recommend this so you could find out on your own but it's really more of a "I read this so you REALLY, REALLY don't have to" type of situation but of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I wish for you to have a better experience than I had. Yet, under no circumstances do I recommend this. Sorry not sorry 😐.
Okay so I had the privilege of being an ARC reader but all of these thoughts are my own!!
I loved this book. I started it at 11pm and stayed up reading it until my eyes blurred. Then I thought about it the next day until I was able to take time to read and finish it.
The author does such a good job making you have your doubts about EVERYONE. The whole time I was reading my mind kept swapping on who I thought we were looking for!
If you love friends to strangers to lovers, if you love romance thrillers, if you love a good character development arc, and if you just love a bad ass MMC who only has eyes for his FMC. This book is for you.
“A Good Girls Guide to Murder” meets “It Ends With Us”.
In her debut, Harmony West gives us mystery, suspense and spice. Madelyn’s dialogue was convincing, not cringy and had me feeling like I was in the book with her. The tension between her and Miles had me on the edge of my seat. I literally couldn’t put it down. The suspense of who is the stalker mixed with when are Madelyn and Miles FINALLY going to hook up made me stay up and finish the book in one sitting. Can’t wait for this book to hit shelves June 20! Happy Birthday to me! Must read for the summer.
Wow! Boy next door, missing girl and a stalker on the loose…this follows the story of Madelyn(Maddie) through a series of what ifs and who could it be. This is an amazing romantic mystery with slow burn and a second chance romance. Definitely recommend this!! I would give this a million stars instead of 5 stars if I could. I devoured this book in 6 hours. Content warning: sexual content, abuse, stalking,
When Sophie Mariano disappears, Maddie (Madalyn) takes her life that she left behind.
Sophie’s brother, Miles, is back in town looking for answers of his missing sister.
Maddie, suddenly starts getting creepy, anonymous messages and photos. The same person who also stalked Sophie. The stalking starts to escalate and Maddie is scared for her life.
Will he be able to figure out what happened to Sophie? who is this person who’s now stalking Maddie and will miles be able to save Maddie from the same fate of his sister? Find out June 20th!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Omg! This was an amazing read! It reminded me of when I was a teenager. I’m a huge fan of romance, mystery and spice and this novel had it all! With the twist and turns of who is this stalker to finding out, had me off my sit. I did have my feelings and was spot on who it could be because certain signs and feelings I had.
I definitely recommend this novel if you love novels like Punk57 or A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder- mystery, romance, and spice!
Sophie Mariano goes missing/ runs away and Maddie AKA Madalyn takes her place in her social circle. Madalyn becomes a cheerleader, takes Sophie's old friends, and also starts dating Sophie's boyfriend Jordan. Then a couple of month after Sophie's disappearance, Miles Mariano, her brother and the lead suspect behind her disappearance comes back to town. Shortly after that Maddie starts getting stalked. She soon finds out that the same person stalking her also stalked Sophie Mariano and could be the reason Sophie disappeared.
If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. I have never read a book quite like Always With You. I Loved every second of it. From the Gilmore Girl's references to the suspense. And the SPICE was A+++++. I am looking forward to reading more of Harmony West's work in the future. Always With You is action packed but also a romance with twists and turns you never expect.
First of all, thank you so much to @authorharmonywest for sending me this ARC! I didn’t sleep last night & read it in one go!!
#Alwayswithyou
Murderer? Stalker? Missing sister!? I LOVE the introduction to this story. That’s enough to convince you to keep reading. This is definitely a page turner. I felt I could really understand the characters as they were beautifully depicted, you could feel their emotions and the rawness of their trauma. I really empathized with Miles more though… I can’t say too much without giving anything away but he is my favorite character!
The suspense build up was amazing. I was mad at one point, because I wanted to know just who who who. I did have my suspicions but I was never for sure.
Definitely add this to your TBR. Release date is 6/20!
I found this book through tiktok and had the pleasure to be an arc reader! I was immediately captivated by a “friends to enemies to friends to lovers” type of romance and honestly was not disappointed. The author portrayed the abuse Madalyn went through so well. The way Madalyns mind process is with Sophie missing, and how influenced she is by other peoples opinions was very real. The undertone theme of horror/mystery is a nice change up as well.
I am hoping we get to see more of Madalyn and Miles in the next book too (I hope there’s a next book!)
Firstly this is absolutely phenomenal, if I could rate it higher than five stars I would! Second, I am shook… literally the suspense throughout the book. I did not see that twist at the end. I felt like I was on a roller coaster being thrown around. Miles is 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 (I mean we love a bad boy next door) I absolutely love Miles and Madalyn together, it just makes sense to see their story unfold. & let’s not forget the spice… 🥵🙌🏼
Do yourself a favor and read it you won’t regret it!
What a great story of a girl who maybe be the next one, in little town, where a persons mystery missing case keeps everyone in their grasp.
The mystery and horror vibes with childhood lovers is a great pair. There are a lot of Gilmore references which are so fun to read! You don't know who you can trust. The twist and turns make that you are on the edge of your seat during the whole story.
The author is so good at making you second guess the characters and their intensions.
Miles and Madie are amazing character. They are so real with their feelings of remorse, guilt, fear and love. They both have their own reasons for not admiting their secrets but slowly they began to trust each other. Together they look for clues who her stalker is. The detective vibes I got where so interesting and made me even more curious about who the person is behind the missing case.
Not my normal read but very good! Mystery stalker romance with a childhood love. I love Madelyn and how relatable she was and the fact that the author kept her as an 18 year old not giving her more adult tendencies. I usually read dual POV but this book didn’t need it. You got everything you could want just from her point of view. Great book great plot little darkness that I appreciate.
One of the best books I've read this year!! Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. Suspense and second chance romance a prefect combo. I am definitely recommending this to all my reading groups.
Wow!! I could not put this book down. This romantic thriller is everything I could’ve asked for in a book. The tension and spicy between these characters was so so good! I cannot wait to see what else Harmony West writes, she is officially on my auto buy list!
This wasn’t my normal type to read, but I’m so glad that I did! Always with you was absolutely amazing with the spice, mystery, and emotions! It was very hard to put down after starting. This book held suspension throughout the entire book without dragging the story out. The author also did an amazing job at keeping the book and MC relatable though the actions and emotions of every character. Before reading check the content warnings because it does have discussions of sensitive topics and graphic content.
4.3 Stars! This is not my usual read but man was it a ride! Fresh out of high school and a load of drama to boot. Maddie is the popular girl with the perfect boyfriend and perfect life, but it hasn't always been that way. And when her past becomes her neighbor and she gets a stalker all in the matter of days, things get rocky. Throughout this book you have twist and turns, fingers pointing to make you confused but that ENDING! Such a good read that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Definitely recommend this one!
My first Goodreads review. I'm a huge dark romance fan and I've always enjoyed a good mystery. I read this book in one sitting (long shift at work). This book was perfect and had a great mixture of spicy 🥵 and mysterious! I did not see that twist coming. I will definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read more by this author! It reminds me a bit of something like Pretty Little Liars 🖤
1000000% yes! Mystery stalker romance and childhood best friends turn to lovers…this book had it all! I was hooked from page 1. There are twists and turns in this you wouldn’t see coming and it was absolutely wonderful 😊😊
OMG!! I had a hard time putting this book down!! I absolutely loved this book!! It had just the right amount of spice, mixed with mystery!! I can’t say enough about this book!! If you get the chance READ IT!! I promise you won’t regret it!! I would give it a million stars if I could!!
This was definitely new to me but it was such a good read. There were definitely times I wanted to throw my kindle at a wall (in a good way). This book kept me on my toes.
At first I was irritated with the FMC and her thought process and being persuaded by so many people. But, abuse comes in so many forms that it’s not always noticed! And I think this described it very well! The mystery was perfect and the tension leading up to Madalyn and Miles relationship was well worth the wait 😏
Harmony West knocked it out of the park in this debut novel! Mystery, romance, suspense and spice; Always with You was a super fun and exciting read, that should definitely be on your TBR.
