Check out the laugh-inducing, phobia-reducing final book in the School of Fear trilogy!
Is school out forever at the School of Fear? A nosy reporter is planning a scandalous exposé on eccentric Mrs. Wellington and her unorthodox teaching methods, and the news is sure to put an end to the school. Madeleine, Theo, Lulu, Garrison, and the new student Hyacinth must convince the reporter that their teacher and the school are perfectly normal. But how can they accomplish this when Mrs. Wellington is just so... odd?
With the fate of their beloved school in their hands, the children now share a new fear--failure.
Gitty Daneshvari was born in Los Angeles to an Iranian father and an American mother. As a child she talked incessantly, feeling the need to comment on everything around her. While at first charmed by her verbose nature, her family soon tired of the constant commenting. This is how she found writing — it was better than talking since she didn't even need anyone else to do it with.
She currently lives in New York City and yes she still talks too much.
I loved this book but it was a bit slow. But still a good book. I love this book and really Learned a lot about them. I Think the reporter was just to willing. She wanted the prize so bad. and it led her in to trouble. That isn't who this story is about.
Its about Madeleine,Theo, Lulu, Garrison and Hyacinth. The are all afraid of something. In this story they have to face there fears and save the school, There beloved crazy teacher Mrs. Wellington, her stepson Abernathy they hate each other and Schmidty the house keeper. From the evil reporter Sylvie who wants to let the secret school out to the public. Will they save the school or will the school go down the drain.
This book is good but you have to read the 2nd one before you read this one.
This is the list of characters and fears.
Theo- death Hyacinth- being alone Lulu- Being in small places Madeleine- bugs Garrison- water
Madeleine, Garrison, Lulu, and Theo are back for their third summer at School of Fear. They made lots of progress during their previous visits, but, as much as they hate to admit it, they each have some more work to do in conquering their phobias. Problem is, things aren't looking good for the School of Fear. A nosy reporter is planning an expose on Mrs. Wellington that will ruin her reputation and the school's, possibly even causing the school to be shut down. If that happens, not only will Mrs. Wellington and her trusty sidekick, Schmidty, be devastated, but the kids will have no hope of acquiring the fear-free lives they long for. Once again, they have to band together and face their fears.
This conclusion to the School of Fear trilogy is as fun and charming as the first two books in the series. The characters really drive these stories. They totally crack me up, and a lot of young (and older!) readers will relate to them. We're all afraid of something, even if we don't have a full-blown phobia. By this point in the series, the characters all know each other really well so they interact with each other in hilarious ways. As far as the plot goes, I think this is the weakest of the series. There just doesn't seem to be as much going on and they're kind of wandering around for a while. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed "The Final Exam," and I found it to be a satisfying conclusion to the series.
Reread this for nostalgia and it’s still a good read that’s entertaining and funny from start to finish. When five students of School of Fear are at risk of having the school closed down and being stuck with the fears they have forever, the five must overcome them as a team to not only save the school, but themselves as well. Hands down HyHy is definitely the best character, plus her pet celery is pretty adorable too. The book is funny, it’s unique, it’s just a fast paced and interesting read from the first to last page. Just like the other books in the series, I knocked it down a star because all of the body shaming jokes and comments are just poor taste for me. Especially knowing what the audience of the book is, making constant “fat jokes” and mean comments about a character being heavy set gets annoying and boring. Besides that, this would have easily been five stars.
All of the characters are incredibly immature and act in ways (most) people don't act, making the book unrealistic, and there's tremendous amounts of unnecessary dialogue throughout the book. I would not recommend this for anyone above 10 years of age.
I knew this book was supposed to be funny, a comedy. But I didn't like the jokes at all, I wasn't even laughing, but annoyed. Unfortunately, the entire book was full of such jokes. I only read the 2nd book prior to this, but I liked that better. This book also had very plain plot, especially when it came to the climax. How fast is was! And how disappointing! I was also not attached to the new introduced characters. They didn't add any huge tension to the story.
But I'm glad that the kids somehow overcame their phobias in a more acceptable way and their characters developed very nicely. Not only the kids, but also other adults. Oh, I also love the cover design and illustrations as much as previous books :)
This is the final book in a great series for upper elementary school. It picks up where the 2nd book leaves off with the 5 students trying desperately to save their school from a nosy reporter looking for a big story.

One of the School of Fear's students, Hyasinth, who has a fear of being alone, just told a reporter that The School of Fear exists. Nobody was supposed to know that. Hyhy, as she likes to be called of course knew this, but her fear of being alone stepped in for her. She can apparently speak to her "bestie" Celery the ferret. Maddie, Garrison, Theo and Lulu are VERY angry at Hyhy. Now they have to think of a way to stop the reporter from thinking that the School of Fear is a school for kids with extreme fears. With the help of Abernathy, Shmidty, and an canary, hopefully they will be able to save the school.
This book's premise was that the school of Fear was going to be revealed to the outside world by a news reporter named Sylvie. The whole story was about how the kids were getting over their fears to help save their school. They tried to help a man from the forest named Abernathy act like a civilized person. The build up was strong, but the end was such a let down, especially as the conclusion to this otherwise amazing series. The entire climax was about half a page, and it was not the ending the readers would want. It is such a weak ending to this series and puts a bad tone on all of the books.
This is the final book in the School of Fear trilogy. It the story starts of right where the second book ended. All of the main characters are back along with another hilarious group of boys from another school.
The School of Fear, Final Exam is an all-around fun book which can be enjoyed by all. The basic storyline of the book is that the students of the School of Fear which include Madeleine, Lulu, Hyhy, and Garrison. These four students are back for their third year at the School of Fear to finally overcome their fears. The different fears of the characters are Madeleine who has a fear of bugs, Lulu who is claustrophobic, Hyhy who is afraid of being alone and garrison who has a fear of water and yet still wants to surf someday. Although, throughout the course of the book, these four characters must also make sure that their teacher, Mrs.Wellington does not get exposed by Sylvie who is an evil reporter with a goal to bring down the School of Fear. Although, as well as saving the school, the kids must also bring Abernathy closer to his stepmother, Mrs.Wellington who have a very hating relationship. Throughout the course of the book, these characters will try to save their school as well as help their friends all while keeping a cheerful and entertaining attitude. There are many times where there are the funniest instances and an example was when Mrs.Wellington, an adult, through a loaf of bread at her stepson's face acting oh so mature. But at the end, Abernathy makes the right decision of forgiving his stepmother for all she has done to him and tells everyone that the reason he is always in the woods is not that he was banished by Mrs.Wellington, but because she was preparing him for being the future inhibitor of the School of Fear.

In the novel Basmati was threatening to end the relationship between Abernathy and Wellington and slyvie got into the mansion and everything seamed like it was all over when Abernathy changed his mind about his step mother and forgives her. The lied about being in the forest for years so slyvie story couldn't air and her little friend was toothpaste the talking conary and then all students of school of fear graduated and would come back next summer as councelers.
The conflict was character vs. self. The conflict happened because Abernathy when watching all school of fearnarians guard miss Wellington he realized all he had to do was forgive her and that he in the end of it caused the whole mess so he ignored his gut and forgave her.
This book was honestly amazing. I loved every part of it. Its an amazing end to an amazing series of books. There was never a boring part in this book, nor a part that I didn't enjoy. The last 2 pages had me crying tears if joy. I hope every person in this world should get the chance to read this trilogy of books because they are truly amazing, all three of them. I started this series over a year ago,but had many reading slumps and put he last book to the side. Everything was SO NICELY WRITTEN. The characters, the action, the EXCITING PARTS. Absolutely everything! I give this book a ten out of ten, and will go on recommending it to every reader i know.

No need to be afraid of the end as this book marks the last of this trilogy. A reporter is determined to put an end to the School of Fear. This book not only arises another problem but also new characters and even another school. Friendship still plays a huge factor in this story as the main characters must push aside dealing with their own fears and work together to overcome their collective fear: failure. With its own unique and hilarious mashup of oddball characters, this book can definitely be considered peculiar.
This was a good book, and a fitting ending, but there were some plot holes and I disliked the author using the word "Schizophrenic" to describe something. He could have instead used eccentric, or something not offensive. As for the ending, it was well written, but it didn't make sense that Hyhy also graduated, as she hadn't completed a second summer.
i honestly thought the series as a whole would be darker and scarier...and it wasnt in the slightest.
happy to be done with the series but honestly idk if i liked it enough to buy the books for my future classroom (there were too many odd jokes that idk if i would want my students to read and ask me questions about lol)
I really really enjoy this book! The story line is great. I love the details and the fun characters. However, I felt the ending was rushed which I felt was weird since the rest of the story is full of details. Overall, I really enjoyed the series!
ends the series with the same quirky sense of humor. i particularly enjoyed the terrible comebacks. the last few chapters are extremely rushed, but overall great for nostalgia, great for sarcastic kids (or sarcastic 23 year olds).
Final book in a three-part series. Finished book 2 this morning, and then decided to go ahead and read book 3 to find out how the story ends. Very entertaining and odd. I like the characters, the story and the setting. I enjoyed this book.
