This book was absolutely incredible, it had me hooked from the beginning.

Samuel has an urge to kill. He doesn’t understand why he’s killing but he can’t control it. He has completely lost a part of himself and is not sure why. He has no remorse for his victims. When his motive is questioned the truth will be revealed.

What. The. Heck. I need the rest!!!
Definitely a new favorite and one of my top 5 of the year (I even had to go back online to purchase)
I could not read this fast enough! Fast-paced from the first page to the absolute last sentence! Loved how the ending of each chapter kept me wanting more.
What a beautifully sad story hiding within the pages woven to make you think you know what is happening to only to realize you weren't even close! Cannot wait for the next one!

Reventide by Daniel O’Brien

Intense, visceral, graphic, brutal and fluid neo-noir is the follow up novel by Daniel O’Brien.

How does an author immerse the reader into their story and keep them entertained, glued to the pages and still the author keeps their secrets up their sleeve? Well, that can be an easy answer or a very difficult one. It’s an alluring thing for an author to keep momentum, story, plot and character engaging to the audience, some can do it without batting an eyelid, whereas it can break others.

Mr O’Brien’s writing is clear in motivation for wanting the audience to know his characters as he does, they are all very real personalities of whom, we can say that, he has met in his day to day life but romanticised to an extreme form, which is a great hook to cast to the audience.

This book is significantly shorter than his prior release, ‘Perisiam’ but nonetheless just as engaging.

Mind blown! This book makes you believe it’s going to be another easy read serial killer style but it isn’t. I wasn’t sure about the writing style at first as it speaks to you as the reader and I’ve not experienced that before but I actually really enjoyed it once I’d gotten into it. It’s quick paced and drags you in with the life of the murder, just when you think you’re getting an idea of who this person is… massive twist that leaves you reeling and wanting to build the pieces of the story up quicker.
Perfectly put together to hold interest, quick paced, and it puts you on the wrong path to open up a whole new plot that has you needing to know more.

As a reader I am always very pleased when the stories I read are fast pasted and continuously leave my mind racing. Trying to find out who, what, why.. this story was very good at doing all of these things. I loved the character building and the mystery of the unknown. There were times I thought I knew the “why” and the “who” only to be left with more questions than answers. Everything came together perfectly with lots of details. I felt like to was watching a move in real-time. I would love to read other books from this author in the future!

Action packed till the end. However, where is the rest of the book!? I need to know what happens next! Definitely hope there is another book!

stunning

The first part was interesting, to say the least.
The second part, once I started putting it together, was brilliant.
Excellent read for those who love the unusual, dark world.
Really enjoyed.

I read this book as a ARC for my honest opinion. I really enjoyed the writing style. I liked the fact that the character included the reader. The book really makes you stop and wonder "what would I do in that situation?"
The ending does leave you with a few questions but I also think a few questions at the end of a good book make you think. It also stated at the end of the book that this is part of a universe. So it's kind of like an "Easter Egg" for readers of Mr. O'Brein.
This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last.

Outstanding book! The cover got my attention and the Author delivers a graphic, suspenseful and twisted story. I am speechless; love his writing style. I felt on an uncontrollable Rollercoaster on full speed and then the ending! I couldn't turn pages fast enough. It was a fantastic, nail-biting thriller of a ride. My first book by Dano O'Brien and it will not be my past. I will consume all his books. A must read, the book never let's up.

Reventide is an exceptional psychological thriller that ingeniously unfolds using the power of first person POV to take readers on an unsettling journey through the mind of a deeply introspective protagonist. Written with a chilling intensity that blurs the lines between reality and illusion, sanity and madness, the unexpected twists and turns will keep you guessing. A truly immersive experience! I hope there will be a follow up.

I was dead set on 3 stars because I was just confused, and it was slow going. Then I hit a big twist & decided it deserved 4 stars.

I am very much still confused, and would really enjoy a part 2!!!

Repetitive and I loathed the book. I only finished it because I hate leaving things unfinished.
