SINTRENCHED is a short horror story by Daniel O'Brien, Author of PERISIAM.
Super quick read and over all the story flowed well. I love unreliable narrators and this book is definitely one of those. The writing is what kinda put me off. Again personal opinion as it doesn’t take away from the actual story but it read in my head as a person telling the story and just run on sentence after run on sentence. Kinda rambly? The story is an amazing read and for being on Amazon kindle is a great little quick story to read through where you don’t see the twist coming at the end. The writing issue is a personal issue and don’t want to discourage anyone from picking up this great little story.
ARC Review: "Sintrenched" by Daniel O'Brien Author - many thanks for providing me with a copy of your work for an honest review.
This was a very well-written short story, with some very exciting scenes, and with a reasonably original premise. I did feel that the inclusion of the MC's original task prior to going to the asylum was not really necessary, and I don't think the connection to the narrative as the story went on was clear or necessary either. I'm also not a fan of multiple perspectives and time jumps, and although they were used sparingly, I didn't think they did much for the story overall. Having said that though - I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author. 3.5 to 4 stars, depending on the day!
