Spice: 3 peppers
Way to end an incredible series with a bang! A Relic of Magic and Frankincense is the last of The Three Gifts trilogy. In this new, fast-paced novel, we follow the high priestess Templar Knight Cynane and the daemon Rohan the Red who find themselves helping each other to reach their mutual goals. Except she's undercover and he doesn't know that she's a templar.
There is an instant attraction between the two main characters that sizzles into a delightful chemistry filled with banter and steam. Their biggest obstacle are their secrets, especially Cyn, who puts the mission and cause before everything else, including her happiness. I loved both characters, especially Rohan. He’s flirty, badass and rogue, and it might be the cover but I couldn’t help imagining him like Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time but with red hair. I especially loved how he admits to his feelings and how he calls out Cyn for not really knowing who she really is and, therefore, what she really wants.
Also, I loved seeing the other characters from the previous books! The found family trope was strong in this one.
This is one of my favorite series. The books are interconnected standalones, so you can easily jump from one to the other without feeling lost, though I do encourage you to read it all to really get the feel of all the politics, intrigue, action (and romance) between Templars, Watchers and daemons.
Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.
