It was like a little peek into one marine’s day by day experiences during a tour in Vietnam in the early years of the war. This was my first read about Vietnam. It was a decent read if you like combat books. He told his story from his experience and it gave me more perspective on a tragic war.

Loved this book only wish I would have read it when my brother, a Marine Vietnam veteran, was alive. A true eye opener and sad life they live(d), for US!

The Walking Dead
By Craig Roberts and Charles W. Sasser
The walking dead was an amazing book. It has to be my favorite book of all time. It's a true story about Craig Roberts, who has just been deployed into Vietnam to fight off the "gooks", or vietcong, that are terrorizing the Americans. Roberts has the most vivid memory that anyone could ever imagine. The way that he explains every detail of everything he saw is insane. It really kept me interested in the book. The only thing he couldn't exactly describe were the actual enemies that he took down because usually he couldn't even see them, and even if he got a kill they were dragged off by their comrades. He was, however, very descriptive of his "brothers in arms" as they say. I read this book a long time ago, so I was willing to read it again because it is what really got me wanting to join the marines. This is why I loved the book so much. You can tell that Roberts was very proud of his accomplishments in the USMC, and I believe that is why he took the time to make this book so good and detailed. I believe that if you like to read about the military, or even more specifically, the marines, you should definitely read The Walking Dead.

This is a soldier's account of his experiences in the Vietnam war. I recommend it to anyone interested in understanding what ground troops experienced in Vietnam. The authors give a straightforward account that doesn't promote any "guts or glory" messages or wanton violence. The Vietnam War was a mess (number 10), and this book conveys that truth well.

This was lent to me by a friend. REALLY glad I read it. One of the better books I've read in recent months and one of the only books I've read on Vietnam. Following the first person account of Craig Roberts through treacherous conditions and a war fought at night left my heart pumping. Highly recommend this read to anyone.
