An interesting art book, on a side of his work I was unfamiliar with. I can't say I fell in love with his textile designs, though some were commercially successful, and he was struggling to make a living from his art at the time (around 1914). The art I really liked were large art-nouveau paintings by his wife, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, and another large painting that appeared to be a husband-and-wife collaboration. And the textile designs are pleasant. Worth a look, if your library has a copy.
Charles Rennie MacKintosh was an architect, interior designer, furniture designer and artist, most known for his work on the Glasgow School of Art. His genius was not recognized and in his latter years he came to depend on textile design for income. His designs are brilliant, incorporating influences from nature and geometry. Beautiful images in this book.
