Levi Johnson: Mountain Man Scout: Journeys: A Mountain Man Adventure

Rate this book
The eighth adventure in a Mountain Man series from Ash Lingam!

Levi Beaver Johnson and ex-Capt. Will Forrester decide to make a winter journey into the mountains to search for new springs to trap beaver. They do so despite Rusty Steel and Angus McFarlin frowning on traveling this time of a blizzard could pop up at any moment. But the Crow Indians had laid claim to the last place the young mountain men found with plentiful beaver. These were the same people who allowed them to live on their mountain. So, they forge new trails into the Rockies to look for new places to trap.

Levi and Will trek deep into the wilderness—and the unknown. After two arduous weeks of travel, they finally find new streams and ponds flush with beaver. They have a trapper’s heyday, acquiring more pelts than ever. Now, Levi could show his older peers that he had outdone them all. He still felt he had to prove himself, despite being accepted as a mountain man by Rusty and Angus.

Unbeknownst to the pair of friends, five scalpers had been watching them through a spyglass and planning to steal their pelts. They steal the valuable pelts, intending to sell them along with the scalps they took from the Indian villages they massacred.

When Levi sees Dahteste, the Crow Indian woman held captive by the thieving white scalpers, he knows he must save her. The beautiful young warrior is a war chief of Rusty’s friend Hachta’s Crow camp. Her proud upbringing makes her deny her captives any show of weakness.

Ash Lingam

Ash Lingam was born and raised in Southern Ohio, not far from the mighty Ohio River. He had somewhat of an isolated upbringing on a family farm with his sisters. His best friends were his horse, Sugar, and his grandfather.
Born in 1886, the family patriarch grew crops, raised cattle, and doted on the young boy. At his grandfather’s side, Ash learned about livestock and firearms at an early age. His grandad carried an old Colt with him at all times, helping spawn a young boy’s dreams of yesteryear.
Ash was only eight years old when his grandad taught him how to trap muskrats to prevent them from draining the farm’s ponds. He gave him a double-barreled shotgun at twelve and taught him how to hunt to put food on the table.
It wasn’t long before Ash was breaking horses. His spirited Tennessee Walker never allowed any other rider on her back. Together, they searched through the plowed fields in the spring, looking for Miami Indian arrowheads to add to his grandfather’s ample collection.
Ash’s family was among the early settlers in pre-Revolutionary America. He has traced his lineage back to around 1746 when his ancestors immigrated from Europe to the aspiring American Colonies.
A retired marketing executive, Ash devotes his spare time to training police dogs and writing novels. He has found his niche in the Western, historical fiction, and adventure genres. With his vast vault of experience, he never runs out of sources for new stories. He has lived in eleven different countries and worked in a total of forty-six,
To date, Ash has written approximately 130 novels, short stories, and poems. More than one hundred of his eclectic titles help the American frontier come alive for his readers.

Good read

Good read. Moved along fast. But my problem with this book is there is 50 pages of sneak previews of the authors next 4 books, really 50 pages of sales. I like your work or i wouldn't be on book 8. Too many previews. Also the author just introduced a woman into the series which i have found in the past has distroyed story lines. I only hope there are no kids in the future. I will continue . So far this series has been great.

This Mountain Man Scout: Jurneys:

This is a good book with a very good story line, about some mountain men in the Rockey Mountains, who have a deadly run in with a group of scalpers. Needless to say it didn't turn out good for the scalpers.
