I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).
So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.
It was amazing to read the first ten book of a favorite series in a bundle, one after the other, not having to dig around for the next book. Highly recommend the experience!
Psychics! Pack dynamics! Soul-bonding! Strong and Capable and Multi-Faceted Female Characters! JUDD MY SPARKLY PRINCESS ASSASSIN!
Also never forget Lordy, Lordy Max Almighty. The one true and underrated hero of the series.
There is literally nothing not to love about this series. It's sexy and dark and fun and the worldbuilding is EXQUISITE. ((and okay there are some things that aren't done well - but there's so much more that is done RIGHT that I'm not yet at the point where I can complain))
I feel like in only mentioning Judd and Max in this review that I am neglecting the females in the series. Who are superior and so interesting and I adore all of them. Sascha for being so powerful in her anger. Faith in being so attached to her own worldview. Ashaya for being a mother and a sister. Amara for being cold and unwilling to change. For the series not asking her to change. Sophia for being the first to change her life without leaving her world behind, for seeing what the others cannot, for finding a way to heal her people from the inside. Indigo, Mercy, Sienna, and Brenna for being strong and tough and taking no shit, but still loving and caring. The healers for being so essential. Evie for being so beautiful. Maria for being a good friend. All of them for taking care of each other and allowing each other space in their lives. NIKITA for taking no prisoners and rebelling in her own, steely way. For them all knowing each other and being friends and caring for each other.
It's easy to lay out Judd and Max as my babies in the series, because they stand out against a dozen men and I can choose them without feeling like I'm leaving someone behind. Not so with the women. They are all of them amazing and precious and worth getting to know.
"I love this book! It's a must read for all of my fans". Nalini Singh
When I read this in the book I thought at the end she was so right. Nalini Singh is one of my most favorite author's I have a lot of her books and series. Her work is well thought out, enjoyable, entertaining and a page turner once you start reading you don't want to put it down until you have finished. This is books 1-10 collection in the Phy-Changeling series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone looking for a good series to read look no further than this series. I have read this collection a few times and have enjoyed it each and every time.
I have been slow on reading the books on my currently reading list, because this series has been taking most all of my time! I don't want to review them each individually, but some of them are 4.5 stars, and a couple are 2.5 (Mine to Possess was the absolute worst). The average is definitely 4 stars. I've also ready 20 of them, not 10 🤭 (I'm on book four of the Trinity continuation) but again, don't want to review or add them individually. I hesitated to add them to Goodreads because they are in the unfortunate category of shifter fantasy, which is notoriously known for being on Wattpad, horrible writing, cringey reoccurring plot points, and ridiculously strong focus on smut. But these books really aren't like that! The world and story are fully-fledged and captivating, the characters are diverse and awesome, and the smut level isn't much different than every other adult fantasy series. I wouldn't recommend typical shifter books to anyone, including myself lol, but this series is a unique gem!!
Unique and fascinating world; clever stories mixing action with love, friendship and purpose; diverse and interesting characters... All in all, entertaining and moving books written by a great author!
I loved every one of these books. And I can't wait to continue with this series. I have started a re-read of all Psy-Changeling and I find it very refreshing to remember some of the best stories out there.
one of my top loved series. I can and will re read the series over and over again and still find it totally captivating. Nalini Singh has created such a complex world within this series, I wish it continues forever 🙏
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I completely change my mind on a series, so want to change my scoring down a lot. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
4.75*
Finally getting around to actually saying something to go with 5 star ratings!
First time read the author's work?: Yes
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
This saga is so overwhelming, i just don't know how to rate it! Some of the books are utterly perfect and deserve 5 brilliant stars, while others are just not that good, or not good at all. So overall, I believe this first arc of the series deserves 4 stars, and I am definitely eager to read any new psy-changeling books Nalini will write. I recommand these books to every paranormal romance fan out there. The world building is amazing, the characters endearings, and the development of the underlying plot worth waiting for. You can read the books separately, and no order is required - I started with "Branded by fire", and it still holds a special place in my heart - But reading them in order will help you get more acquainted with the charaters and the world. This is an adult saga though, beware of all the sex I also recommand the hors-series, and short stories!
*Eye rolls*, *gag me!*s, *oh puhleez!*, *pfft*s? Present all, in abundance! Accompanying that was also a lot of *skip, skip, skippity, skip*. The romance part was really all of the aboves, the paranormal, ignored because hello? Busy doing the all of the above.
From the whole omnibus, I only read the first one complete and 20% of the tenth one (Idk, I thought I wanted to see Hawke and Sienna's story, for some reason. As it turns out, I really didn't.) It goes against my grain to leave stories midway, but some things are so not-me(?), suffering through the pet peeves is preferable!
As there are 10 books here my view is overall, some books were a 5* some a 3* so overall 4* I enjoyed the books & the later books more than the first 3 or 4. I don't think you need to read all the series as each book is individual tho they are all interlinked using the same characters, featured in earlier books.
Have read the first 5 books in the collection and am really enjoying the series. It's been on my TBR list for a while, so I was glad to find the first 10 volumes in one ebook package.
I re-read Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh but it doesn't appear in my stats. So, I've added this collection to replace my read in April so my stats are accurate.
