Vampire Ronan Kieran has fought the ancient one and knows he must make a mortal woman fall in love with him in order to defeat the world's oldest vampire. well this book was probably the best of them all...not that thats saying much lol. We know more background now but only by virtue of this being a series not because the author actually thinks to explain everything. i spent most of this book laughing...and not because the author meant it to be funny
Characters: Clarissa was probably the mos likeable heroine with far fewer hangups than the others and with slightly more spine. Ronan was kind of annoying with his drastic emotion shifts "i wont love her" "love her so much omg!" (no really thats what it sounded like in my head).
Plot: same old same-kill the big bad save the silly townspeople; except do they really? the ending made it seem like she was aiming for a spinoff which dear god i hope someone shot down. and we wait all this time for the final showdown (no really its like 700 pages of book before this) and its like 5 pages of very yawn worthy "action" scene (i was thinking about what i was going to make for dinner during it)
Sex scenes: laughable (i actually laughed out loud at them they were so bad) it was even worse than a cheesy porno i had to skim most of them so i didnt injure myself laughing. and this will also fall under a more general writing deficiency but its like someone gave her a cookie cutter checklist that she worked her way through as she wrote. just finished having sex? nope we're not done let's throw in an awkward completely unnecessary anal scene. And her metaphors/juxtapositions are god awful. Examples include a paragraph long description of the contrast between his "black pubic hair" and her "russet curls" (seriously who talks like that?) and that he "pounded with the stamina of a bull" (seriously who thought that would sound anything other than ridiculous lol). As in previous books her switching between dry almost medical terms (vagina, labia) to graphic ones (cock, cunt) just made it awkward to read (well more awkward than it already was due to her poor writing ability)
Writing: many of my issues have already been covered in this review or in my reviews of the other books of the trilogy. mostly i feel like these were books that were sex scenes that she strung together to try and make a full length book and the other stuff was just afterthought. we get some mythology theories but never anything thats more than a could be this could be that. like last book's shadow people who knows wth they are...apparently no one because she couldnt just decide on a theory and use it to make anything better. and in this book we finally get the vampire origin myth (which is normally my favorite part of vamp series)...they were MAYBE the result of some babylonian curse because someone killed a concubine. seriously? one of the most important elements of a vampire series and all you came up with was a maybe....smdh. she never goes into depth on anything other than sex scenes. like why does clarissa have visions...why did she leave town why does anything happen in this book at all...nothing. and the editing (or lack thereof) was just....substantial portions of the dialogue made no sense at all. She leaves all this unanswered questions and unfinished plot that just drives me nuts, not because i really care what happened (i had like 0 emotional investment in it) but because its just poor writing. i could probably write a book more interesting than hers on just what was bad about this series but for the sake of time (and my sanity) im just going to move on.
Miscellaneous: the guy on the cover of this book is so not attractive...at ALL whoever decided that should be the cover picture should be fired...and maybe shot.

All in all my advice? avoid this series (and probably just generally this author) AT ALL COSTS. dont waste your time as i did mine....these books may be worse than the twilight series and i was pretty sure those were about as low as it got

Characters and story were not interesting. Everything dragged. I skimmed a bunch. Sex scenes were boring.

STORY BRIEF:
This is the third book in a series. Clarissa is psychic and can see things in the past or currently. She left Pine Forest twelve years ago. Now she is back to take pictures of haunted places for her third book. In town there is an evil presence and two vampires. One vampire is evil and is called the ancient one. The second vampire is Ronan who is good and has been trying to kill the ancient one for years. A seer tells Ronan that the only way to defeat the ancient one is to truly love a human and get her pregnant.

REVIEWER’S OPINION:
Parts of the story were not realistic, for example: A and B are fighting. A is knocked unconscious. B needs a particular item to kill A. B has time to go get the item, but he doesn’t. B just leaves the scene, and A wakes up later and leaves. C kidnaps D and plans to kill D, but for some strange reason it doesn’t happen and D easily escapes. The final fight scene was not detailed enough or interesting. I also wanted more information about Clarissa, her psychic talents, her past, why she left the town, and her books.

Cover pictures are wrong. Cover girl has long black hair. Clarissa has copper penny red hair in ringlets down to her waist. Cover guy is wearing blue jeans. In the book Ronan wears black jeans and black dress slacks.

DATA:
Swearing language: strong, including religious words. Sexual language: strong with rear door activity. Number of sex scenes: 9, most of them a few pages long. Setting: current day Pine Forest, Colorado. Copyright: 2004. Genre: paranormal romance.

Ronan is a smoking hot super-alpha hero. Very erotic romance, but plenty of story. The first book in the series was good, the second better and this one was great. For what it is--an erotic romance--this book and series has it all. I'm not usually a big fan of vampire paranormals, but this one worked for me.
