Jason Aaron grew up in a small town in Alabama. His cousin, Gustav Hasford, who wrote the semi-autobiographical novel The Short-Timers, on which the feature film Full Metal Jacket was based, was a large influence on Aaron. Aaron decided he wanted to write comics as a child, and though his father was skeptical when Aaron informed him of this aspiration, his mother took Aaron to drug stores, where he would purchase books from spinner racks, some of which he still owns today.
Aaron's career in comics began in 2001 when he won a Marvel Comics talent search contest with an eight-page Wolverine back-up story script. The story, which was published in Wolverine #175 (June 2002), gave him the opportunity to pitch subsequent ideas to editors.
In 2006, Aaron made a blind submission to DC/Vertigo, who published his first major work, the Vietnam War story The Other Side which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Miniseries, and which Aaron regards as the "second time" he broke into the industry.
Following this, Vertigo asked him to pitch other ideas, which led to the series Scalped, a creator-owned series set on the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation and published by DC/Vertigo.
In 2007, Aaron wrote Ripclaw: Pilot Season for Top Cow Productions. Later that year, Marvel editor Axel Alonso, who was impressed by The Other Side and Scalped, hired Aaron to write issues of Wolverine, Black Panther and eventually, an extended run on Ghost Rider that began in April 2008. His continued work on Black Panther also included a tie-in to the company-wide crossover storyline along with a "Secret Invasion" with David Lapham in 2009.
In January 2008, he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel, though it would not affect his work on Scalped. Later that July, he wrote the Penguin issue of The Joker's Asylum.
After a 4-issue stint on Wolverine in 2007, Aaron returned to the character with the ongoing series Wolverine: Weapon X, launched to coincide with the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Aaron commented, "With Wolverine: Weapon X we'll be trying to mix things up like that from arc to arc, so the first arc is a typical sort of black ops story but the second arc will jump right into the middle of a completely different genre," In 2010, the series was relaunched once again as simply Wolverine. He followed this with his current run on Thor: God of Thunder.
Odin has sent the Destroyer to retrieve Thor's hammer and humble the thief. Meanwhile Thor Odinson continues searching for the identity of the new Thor.
The battle between new Thor and the Destroyer is the highlight of this issue. The new Thor is a tough lady to say it mildly.
New Thor: the reason why I read Thor at all. By this point it's becoming obvious that the mystery of who new Thor is as well as the change in pace of writing (old Thor and Odin are not huge fans of new Thor, what exactly caused Thor to lose his hammer in the first place is unclear) from other issues like the Thor annual keep me coming back.
Odin has gone too far this time. In his desire to destroy this new Thor and get Mjolnir back he has pushed away his son and his wife who now come together to stop the All Father.
The new Thor faces off against the Destroyer to little effect, while Shield and the Dark Elf Malekith weave plans of their own. A new Thor may have been chosen but she's going to need some extra help this time around. This leads to a nice closing shot of the Odinson with his mother and an army of awesome ladies coming to help provide assistance.
While SHIELD tries to deal with the Roxxon corporation, Thor tries not to die after being in her new position for just 5 days.
While the action scene scenes were cool, this issue does feel more like filler between the last issue and the next one. But we’ll have to wait and see how the events of this issue continue on in the rest of the story.
So many reasons to love it is working so well and I'm on the edge of my seat trying to work out who she is. Though there are some pretty explicit hints. Is it next month already?
There's an environmentalist element to this one thanks to agent Solomon (she's so cute btw)
Also the destroyer holding the hammer while he's possessed by Odin's brother?? That's bad
Malekith showing us the ten realms
Oh my the way Thor fought this one gave me chills, amazing fight of hers
OH MY AND IT ONLY GOT BETTER "This is not how it ends. I will not be a footnote to history. I will not be the woman who was Thor for five days and then fell. This is not how I die. Just so you know, girl, the name is cul borson. The serpent. The god of fear. And I have quite a bit of experience when it comes to the killing of Thors. Mayhap. But you have never met a Thor like me. *Can't stop my hand from shaking. No, wait, it's the hammer that's shaking. God, that's even worse. I am Thor, godess of thunder. And no matter what happens today, I know this is not the end of my story. My true story hasn't even begun. But it's about to.
You will not stand alone this day, Thor! So swears prince Odinson of Asgard! And his mother! And their army! Am I right, ladies?" CHILLS CHILLS CHILLS and it's a bunch of female super heroes and Thor at front (is this how the protector of lesbians came up? lmao cause i love it) Also I would like it of freyja said "and the all mother" I would like to identify herself not through her characteristic just as Thor's mother This issue had fire energy
