Many people, mostly teenagers, still don’t know what to do in their life and should read Too Big A Storm, a book written by Marsha Qualey. Will is a missing private in the Vietnam War, Sally hasn’t been seen either, and Brady is stuck at home in Minnesota not knowing how to help or what to do in her future.
In my opinion, I believe this story is very respectable but imperfect. Most of the book is dialogue and the story feels dull after a while. Some people might enjoy dialogue and should read Qualey’s book as well. However, the dialogue and actions fit well into this “Vietnam War Time Period” otherwise known as 1955-1975. What I enjoy the most are the main problems in the storyline about Will and Sally because those parts are compelling. I found the book a slow start but after a bit, things started to get, like I said, compelling until the dialogue made it boring again. My favorite part was when Will’s absence in the war had gotten the most relevant (but I can’t say what happened because no spoilers!).
I believe Too Big A Storm would appeal the most to high school students/young adults who enjoy historical fiction. I’m not in high school myself but I still enjoyed Qualey’s book. I could relate to Brady and be feeling the same way if it were me. This story is pretty good in general and I would’ve highly recommend it to anyone if it didn’t have a bit of mature topics (barely any though).

I really like Qualey's books. This one isn't for everyone, and I have a hard time selling it to students. But I like reading about Vietnam, and it's great drama.[return][return]When serious worrier Brady Callahan meets vivacious Sally Cooper, daughter of a wealthy Minnesota family, they develop a close friendship that helps them both grow and survive during the turbulent Vietnam War era.
