There are three things that all respectable dragons wings for flying.Strong lungs for breathing fire. And shiny, shiny scales...But Bluey the Dragon has none of these.Even so, Bluey has other abilities, some of them truly wonderful... if only he can work out what they are!
This book is dedicated to children struggling with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the story is a great reflection of that purpose. A blue dragon who isn't strong like the rest of the dragons struggles to find his purpose. He is made fun of and shunned but shows bravery and resilience in spite of it. He goes on a long journey to find the fabled wise bearded dragon to learn what his place is in this world. The takeaway message is that we don't have to have the same abilities or appearances of others in order to be an invaluable member of our communities. Because even though we're all different, everyone is an expert at something.
A beautifully put-together book about finding your place in the world and accepting your differences, even if others around you don't recognise them. Beautiful artwork and a meaningful message.
Take a brave Dragon battling with his own demons and give him hope and a heartwarming journey and you have the perfect book for pre-schoolers and young readers. A terrific tale to help young readers process challenges. Big people will love this too!
Dragons, hope, deprecating peers and finally self validation. This is a special picture book with genteel illustrations, a heartwarming character named, Bluey and a story that promotes strength from within. Primary-schoolers especially will appreciate this well crafted tale.
'That's What Wings Are For' has more heart and soul than your average children's book. A kind-hearted tale with beautiful illustrations as well. I loved it :)
