At first I thought this book was just going to be another silly pop-psychology thing, but I think it offered many good ideas I wish I had known at 19, or 26 or 30. McGinnis even addressed one of my particularly tough topics – the ability to have a sharing relationship with a man as a feminist. This book has far more to offer than Gray’s ‘Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus’. I particularly valued the chapter called ‘Kindness, the Neglected Virtue’. I definitely feel this is one of the best books I’ve read on love relationships between men & women. I’m coming to understand that in order to love another I must first really, truly love my own self first. Then to just keep my heart open and engaged with love for myself and all around me and then love will come.
