One woman's inspiring journey though tragedy and sorrow-and the faith that made her entire life a miracle.
When she was just a child, Heather's life was altered by an accident that completely destroyed many of her internal organs. The doctors gave her no chance of survival-but with God's grace, she proved them wrong. When they said she would never walk, she defied them again. And though they insisted she could never have children, she gave birth to two. When others said no...God said yes.
More than a story of suffering and survival, Heather's life is a testament to the power of faith. From the first decisive moments after the accident, Heather and her mother put their trust in God, and let Him work in their lives. With her husband DeWayne and her daughter Mackenzie-the two greatest miracles in her life-Heather has found great joy, and many reasons to give praise. This is her amazing story-offering hope and inspiration to all.
I thought I knew what this book would be like - the author was accidentally run over by her mom's car at age 4 and (now in her 30's) has since endured 187 surgeries. She lives in constant pain and always will. I knew it would be an inspirational story but I had no clue just how inspirational. Her health issues are only one of many issues in her life and the best part is that Heather Bland is no Pollyanna. She is strong in faith and humor but brutally honest regarding her difficulties and has no problem telling God that she hates Him sometimes. Most people would be ruined by the things Heather has had to endure. And yet, in her weakness she is strong in so many ways. The book is a testament to a life well lived.
God said yes starts out about a young girl named Heather Hornback. Heather lived a different life than the average person after a traumatic event that happened when she was only four. When Heather was four she was ran over by a car. Doctors didn’t believe that she would survive. Heather kept believing and fighting to live and pushed through many obstacles. Heathers whole life she has had to have multiple surgeries and has encountered multiple problems. Through everything God has been there with her. Whenever everyone said no god always said yes. There were times when she didn’t agree or understand what god was doing but through it all she never gave up and never lost faith. Heather is now 34 years old, has had 187 operations, and has faced 13 medical miracles. What obstacles do Heather face? How has this trauma that happened 30 years ago affect her life? I think young adults and adults would be most interested in this book. I think readers that enjoy real life relatable stories will enjoy this book because it is easy to compare your life and experiences to. This book enlightens the reader by showing how your life could be worse and no matter what if you never give up you can get through anything. This book is easy to read and relate to. It is appropriate for both teenagers and adults. From the first page of this book I already loved it. This book was a page turner and I never wanted to put it down. The book was easy to comprehend and was quick to read. I enjoyed reading this book because it was easy to connect with and had great detail. I give this book 5 out 5 stars because it was great from the beginning to the end. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This is a beautiful, true story of a remarkable woman, who endured unbelievable ups and downs in life. Because of her faith, and love of the Lord, she made it through. She is an inspiration. When doctors told her she couldn't, she proved with God, ALL things are possible. 'God Said Yes' is a must read, can't put it down book. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to be lifted up, and reminded that God is in control.

Amazing story of Heather's life. The end left me wanting to know more.
This story of one person's amazing faith and grit would get five stars, but I'm afraid some people will not appreciate the medical hardships and descriptions. The fact filled story(an autobiography, truly) is well-written, and Heather's spunk and humor repeatedly held me through some graphic details of her medical odyssey. If you've ever had a bad day, or a string of bad days, I encourage you to read this book. If you've been "down in the dumps," or if you've never had medical problems, you will find this book fascinating--- perhaps even uplifting. Simply put, it's a story of Faith & trust: in one's self preservation, and in one woman's complete surrender to the Almighty's power!
Heather Hornback-Bland is nothing short of a miracle of God. She has fought to survive and thrive since she was 4 years old. Her Faith is nothing short of amazing. I believe it is what has sustained her. I was tempted to put the book down so many times when she was suffering. But, I figured if she could endure it, I could endure reading the most painful parts. I am so glad I came across this book. I laughed and I cried. I also prayed for better health for Heather, and for many more years with tons of joy and happiness. What an inspiration! If you are ever feeling sorry for yourself, pick up a copy of this book and read it through. You'll be glad you did. I know I am.
An intriguing look into the life of Heather Hornback-Bland, chronicling her battle for her life due to being run over by her mother at the tender age of 4. Throughout her life she has been in out of the hospital over hundreds of times, and struggled just to be "normal", wanting children and a normal family home life. Although at parts almost incredulous, truth is often stranger than fiction. The end leaves you hanging like a dingleberry, which reminds me I need to look something up online...like if she's still alive. Eh, don't read it.
This is a pretty quick and easy read that's hard to put down. It's an amazing story of so much pain and suffering and tragedy while also filled with hope, optimism and perseverance that I found it hard to believe it wasn't fiction. The author's experiences combined with her will to not only live but to live life to it's fullest is a wonderful example to all of us. You can't help but look at your own life and feel extremely blessed after reading this book.
This is probably 4 1/2 stars--not so much for the writing style (which is just folksy and easy to read), but for Heather's story. Her testimony is unbelievable after all she's been through. My silly worries (like acne outbreaks, obnoxious as they are) seem so petty in comparison to this woman's undaunting courage, deep faith, and wonderful attitude. This book reminded me that life is all about perspective.
If you like autobiographies this is a good one. It takes you on a journey through the life of someone who survived being run over by a car, had multiple operations, and even survived the unsurvivable. I won't give too much away, just to say that it is amazing what some people have been through and have still been able to maintain their faith all the way through it.
This book was definitely inspiring. She definitely fought the odds and proved doctors wrong time after time. It definitely made me appreciate what I have. I like the fact that she said husband and daughter were her best gifts. I definitely admire how her second husband truly loved her and accepted her daughter as his own child. He definitely had a big heart!!
Despite all the obstacles in her way, the main character of this book, beats all odds. It's remarkable how an accident at a very young age, changes the course of this womans life forever, and she pushes on.
Very real, will make you laugh, cry and angry. I didn't think I would make it through but once I got past the first chapter it surprisingly fast. Very well written. Since it is a true story of someone's life there is no 'happy ending'; in fact, it leaves you wondering what finally happens.
An inspiring look into the lives of a little girl and her family who have weathered intensely difficult storms and difficulties together with the Lord. Honest and candid, Heather's message challenges you to look at what is motivating your life? Her incredible response: Incredible Joy.
wonderful wonderful wonderful so inspiring it just goes to show how amazing God really is and that no matter how hard it is he is always there with us.
A tough read I couldn't finish it but I think if there was more about how her faith sustained her or how she worked to keep positive I would have made it through more
