He never should have touched her.

She’s beautiful, sweet, and all sunshine. He’s too old, too rough, and too grumpy.

Now she’s pregnant with his baby and in danger, and there is nothing he won’t do to keep her safe.

All Adaline Harris ever wanted to do was escape her small town and make it as a ballet dancer in New York. But luck is never on her side. Just when she’s found the big, gruff man of her dreams, he ghosts her…leaving her with a broken heart, pregnant, and unable to dance. Oh, and added to that, someone is sending her creepy notes.

But then Bram O’Donovan walks back into her life, takes one look at her, and sweeps her into his brawny arms.

Bram “Excalibur” O’Donovan knows he’s rough, curt, and isn’t good with people. The military suited him just fine, and now, so does working for Sentinel Security. He never expected to have a chance with sweet, gorgeous Addie. The week he spent in her bed was the best week of his life…until she disappeared without a trace.

Finding her working in a bar and pregnant with his baby is a shock.

But after discovering Addie thinks he abandoned her and that someone is hunting her, Bram is determined to uncover what’s going on. Someone is trying to keep them apart, and wants her for themselves. Bram will go all out, and use all his dangerous skill set, to keep Addie safe, and claim her as his, once and for all.

*** An action-packed standalone romantic suspense.

This installment was book 5 in a series and can be read as a standalone, but some scenes from previous books were mentioned here too. In my case, I jumped from book 1 to book 5, and I'm glad the story wasn't confusing at all. I didn't have to read the previous books to understand this, but I guess it's still way better to read it in order.

This is more like a second-chance romance. The story started with Bram seeing a pregnant Addie working in a pub. It was mentioned that they had some sort of whirlwind affair six months ago. Addie thought Bram didn't want anything to do with her because all of her attempts to contact him didn't pay off. While Bram thought Addie left her after he went on a mission, he decided to track her. There was a miscommunication about what actually happened to them, and some people were also hell-bent on preventing them from reuniting.

All throughout those six months of separation, Addie lost her apartment and job, and she had to start from scratch again while pregnant. As for Bram, he never stopped looking for her, even though he didn't have any means to contact her.

I'm not a fan of second-chance romance in general, but I did like this very much. Maybe because both of the MCs remained faithful to one another, and it was very obvious how much they loved and cared for each other.

The book's entire premise revolves around locating the insane stalker who is obsessed with Addie. He was so unhinged and had this notion that Addie was his and he'd be his wife. Clearly, he was the villain, but he was not an easy opponent. He was smart, could hide his tracks, and was good at combat training.

I liked the action and suspense in the book. It was nerve-wracking, and I'm nervous about what will happen in the next chapters. The Sentinel Security team was really, really good. It was thrilling reading how they plan their strategy or how they'll execute their mission.

I liked Bram and Addie's story. They were so in love with each other and had a healthy relationship. At first, it was difficult for Bram to talk about his feelings because he wasn't used to doing it. But Addie was patient and understanding with him; she helped him slowly open to her, and it was admirable progress to read.

Overall, this was a good read. I'll surely recommend this to those who want suspenseful romance. This definitely delivered a good story with an engaging plot and twists.

Excalibur is the fifth book in the Sentinel Security series by Anna Hackett.

This romantic suspense features a security team known as Sentinel Security. Everyone gets on board to take the bad guy down. She has a stalker now he just has to keep her alive and the fun begins. It has it all to make it a heart-stopping, action-filled tale. With lots of chemistry, tension, intrigue, drama, danger, mystery, and more.

Loving rereading this series again.

I loved the action packed storyline in this book. It’s not my favorite trope, but that’s a me thing. I loved the Shade & Boone cameos. Excited for the next book.

💚 Dancer (FMC) x security agent (MMC)
🤍 MMC with Irish accent
🧡One-week stand
💚Surprise pregnancy
🤍FMC has a stalker
🧡Team dynamics and found-family vibes

This was my first read of Anna Hackett’s take on an unplanned pregnancy trope—a trope I don’t usually seek out—but I’m determined to be a completionist with Hackett’s works. I liked this WAY more than I thought I would!

An unforgettable and sexy week with a gruff, older Irishman leaves Addie both unexpectedly pregnant and unable to reach the father. And further misunderstandings—later revealed to be intentional—only continue to muddle the situation.

But when a chance encounter between Addie and Bram have them both slowly learning the truth, and learning that their red hot chemistry hasn’t wavered in the slightest, the two have to figure out what a future together looks like—especially when someone from Addie’s past comes into the picture to threaten that future.

Addie and Bram were great together. Once the initial misunderstandings are resolved, the focus is just on the pair’s romance, and how they come back together like nothing ever went wrong. The classic stalker plot worked well as a backdrop, especially how it connected with a past event in the series, adding continuity to the Sentinel Security world.

This one was sweet.

It was a second chance grumpy/sunshine except Bram was more not talkative than grumpy.

Addie gets pregnant after two weeks of being with Bram, but he’s off on an assignment. When he comes back, she left her apartment and doesn’t have her phone (she’s broke after becoming pregnant and losing her job as a dancer) and she tries to contact him at work and is basically told to leave him alone.

This is the only type of second chance I really tolerate because it was only a few months separation and it was a misunderstanding/other forces at bay that kept them apart.

I did wish we saw their initial getting to know each other, even from a long flashback or something, so I would’ve felt a bit more connected to them.

But mostly it’s just them finding their way back to each other, and Addie trying to make sure he is there for her and not just because she’s pregnant.

Even though there’s danger from her stalker, it was kind of a simple story. I did feel like the part where she’s kidnapped was a little too obvious. I mean, they left her on the jet with just the pilot knowing she’s being stalked?

But if you want a predictable, action romance story with some surprise pregnancy thrown in, this could be for you!

Excalibur...

Sentinel Security book 5. Brilliantly written. Bram gets his story. He fell hard for Addie. So a giant messy happenstance along with nefarious interference delegates them. He finally finds her and she is pregnant. Now add a maddening stalker bad guy and a whole bunch of WTF craziness. Bram and the Sentinel team steps in. This book is hella angsty, funny, dramatic, twisty and smexy.

Scowly, intense, kind of quiet Bram is up and he's got his work cut out for him in wooing (re-wooing?) Addie. Why? you ask. Well. Addie thinks Bram got what he wanted from her and then walked away. She's alone, wary, and pregnant. She doesn't trust him when he first shows up again, but circumstances soon have them sharing space and she gets over the mistrust pretty quickly.

Mostly because she finds out Bram DIDN'T walk away. In fact, he's been actively looking for her. To be fair, the active part of the looking was fairly recent because he thought she didn't want to see him. Yeah, there was a fair amount of miscommunication going on between these two and none of it was their fault.

Anywho. Now Bram's back in Addie's life and the timing is fortuitous because Addie has herself a little stalker problem. As they work through their relationship issues, the Sentinel team also start digging into who's on Addie's trail. Which means we have a bunch of hyper-focused, protective men and women doing what they do best.

An unexpected baby bump (well, unexpected to poor Bram), a dangerous situation, more than a few steamy kisses, a BFF who gives Bram her all (BESTIES!), and two people who have to fight to be together. YESSSSS.

Oh Bram. So very grumpy. I really fell in love with Bram in the last book. he was very quiet, but he risked his life to save Devyn (Hellfire) in Steel's book. And of course they became besties. (against Bram's wishes... Iykyk)

Bram has been extra grumpy if that is at all possible. And you realize he has fallen for a girl who he met after Steel's sister had been kidnapped with another girl, Addie. Bram had looked in on Addie after she was rescued and they were very attracted to each other. But Bram had to go away on a mission and when he went to her after getting back, she was gone. Hex was in the process of searching for her using all her tech skills. all the sentinel security fam are in an Irish bar celebrating...and Bram spots Addie. and she is preggo!!

So Bram wants to take care of her and keep her and their babies safe. Addie is afraid to trust him. And she doesn't know how to tell him she has a stalker.

But as Addie & Bram try working on trusting each other and enjoying their pregnancy and their second chance, and Bram keeping her protected...she is put in danger by a man who will do anything to keep her for himself.

I love this series. I love the Norcross Series as well. I'm so excited that I'm finally going to read Hex's HEA next!!!!

'Every battered bit of my soul is yours'

Whilst this could be read as a standalone, Bram and Addie's story actually starts earlier in the series, so events that are referred to here make more sense and are more enjoyable if you read the rest of the series first. The whole amazing series can be read on Kindle Unlimited.
I love that sweet, dainty Addie tames the grumpy, growly Irish giant, who just grunts and frowns for most of the previous books in the series. But here she brings him to his knees and we see a much softer but just as sexy side to him, we see his fears, his perceived failures and also his very growly protector side too. And whilst he may not say much, what he does say melts your heart and sizzles your Kindle.
This is an awesome series where dark and scary black ops warriors who live and work in the shadows fall hard and fast for their soul mates...it obviously cannot be smooth sailing and we have plenty of denials, fireworks, feisty women and growly Alpha men, sexy, steamy scenes, fast paced action, twisted plots and of course lots and lots of love.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Imagine thinking you were ghosted, only to find that so so so much deviousness aligned to make it appear that way. And then imagine being scared and alone and likely hunted. Got that mindset? Okay. Now you’re in Addie’s head. And when Bram catches sight of her, he knows that he’s not about to let her disappear again. Because he’s on the flip side of that, also thinking that he was ghosted. But now? Now he’s got a second chance. He just has to keep her alive and safe to find their forever.

This series is fast-paced and full of danger, mystery, humor, and a group of people who will keep you hooked. From the friendships and unlikely alliances to the teamwork and determination to provide whatever a person needs (just ask Addie, since she’s certainly the focus of a few of the women and men!), this book brought me the story I was hoping for Bram to have. Even if I didn’t know for sure how I wanted it to play out, I couldn’t put this one down. Now I wait for Hex and someone who just might stick around to be with her. We shall see how that one goes!

I think this series should be read in order - the supporting characters take up a lot of space and it’s assumed you know (and care) about them and their pasts.

Also the romance was severely underdeveloped in this book. We were told about the amazing connection they had but never shown it. And instead of the MCs getting to know each other again and actually dating, the romance is overpowered by the suspenseful plot.

We should all be so lucky to have Excalibur

Bram, the gruff Irish giant, is as loyal, true, and sexy as they come. He and Addy have a brief but torrid affair. When he heads out on a job, unknown forces conspire to keep them apart. Each thinks the other abandoned them, leaving both of them hurt and miserable (especially Addie), but when they finally cross paths, all is revealed. A side note, how they were kept seems far-fetched as it seems like something Killian or really any security firm worth it's salt would guard against - but I digress.

Addie doesn't trust Bram wants her out of anything other than obligation, and Bram is convinced he's not worthy of her. They have to trust each other and his team to stop the madman bent on keeping her for himself. Almost all the gang's here, plus we get a glimpse of Shade and Hex the next couple. Of course, Bram and Addie generate enough heat to burn down a forest.

4.25stars—EXCALIBUR is the fifth instalment in Anna Hackett’s contemporary adult SENTINEL SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Sentinel Security. This is Sentinel Security Agent Bram ‘Excalibur’ O’Donovan, and dancer turner waitress Adaline ‘Addie’ Harris’ story line. EXCALIBUR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Sentinel Security is a spinoff from the author’s Norcross Security series.

Told from dual third person perspective EXCALIBUR follows Bram O’Donovan as he continues to search for the woman he loved. Weeks earlier, Adaline ‘Addie’ Harris walked out of Bram’s life and in the ensuing time Bram has never stopped looking . Bram’s visit to a local bar finds Addie working as a waitress, and very much pregnant but all is not well in our heroine’s life as Addie has a stalker, and someone at Sentinel Security may be helping behind the scenes. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Addie and Bram, and the potential fall-out as Addie’s stalker is successful, and former CIA operative and owner of Sentinel Security Killian Hawke, calls in reinforcements from an unlikely source.

Months earlier, Addie Harris and Killian’s sister Saskia had been kidnapped and held hostage by a powerful Russian businessman.Upon their release Addie found herself falling for our story line hero but an assignment pulled Bram Donovan out of Addie’s life, weeks before Addie would discover she was carrying Bram’s baby. Weeks trying to make contact with one another ended with no response, both believing the other had ghosted without a word.

The relationship between Addie and Bram is a second chance romance . Addie lost everything when Bram disappeared leaving her pregnant, and on her own-her home, her job, her sense of self-worth but Bram’s return to her life coincides with a stalker getting too close, and a series of threatening letters that are dangerous and dark. Bram has been searching for Addie since he returned from a job but someone else was making sure Bram and Addie never reconnected. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Several of the previous story line characters and couples return: Devyn and Killian Hawke; former MI6 agent Hadley ‘Striker’ Lockwood; hacker Jet ‘Hex’ Adler; CIA analyst Gabbi Hansley, and former Interpol agent Matteo ‘Hades’ Mancini, as well as Killian’s sister Saskia and Camden Morgan. We are introduced to former Ghost Ops Boone Hendrix, and Deep Cover CIA agent Cain aka Shade.

EXCALIBUR is a story of obsession and madness, forgiveness and acceptance, family and friendships. The fast paced premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is fated; the characters are determined, desperate and dynamic.

Series: Sentinel Security #5
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Bram “Excalibur” O’Donovan has been looking for Adaline since he came back from a mission to find her apartment empty and her phone off. Now weeks later he has found her working in a bar and apparently pregnant with his child. He is determined to take care of her, but first he has to protect her from an unknown stalker.

This was another enjoyable Sentinel Security story. Bram has been the quiet grumpy one throughout this series so I was excited to finally get to know him. Bram was a sweet and protective man who worships Addie. I loved seeing this big grumpy man shake in fear over the thought of being a father.

Addie was a sweet and kind woman who just wanted to find happiness. Addie also has a bit of bad luck. She was kidnapped with Saskia in The Protector and is now being stalked and harassed. While she does have bad luck, I admire her determination to protect her child and utilizing her surroundings to her advantage.

Since this does take place after Bram and Addie reunite, we miss seeing the beginning of their relationship and how they went from acquaintances to lovers. I would have liked to have seen some of that time together to understand why these two were so devastated when they were apart. Bram and Addie’s second chance was sweet and filled with a lot of danger. I liked that Bram worshiped Addie and went out of his way to make her feel safe. I also loved that Addie wasn’t afraid to demand what she wanted from Bram.

Overall, this was another great Sentinel Security story. I enjoyed these two and look forward to seeing Bram being a father in future books. Also, I am excited to see Hex finally fall in love in the next one.

Trigger Warnings: stalking; kidnapping; bomb situation; PTSD and nightmares; references to the death of mother and sister; reference to neglectful parents;

Sentinel Security has become one of those series I look forward to. So much. And Bram the grumpy and stoic Irishman stole my heart from the moment we met. I was so excited to see who his heroine would be, and friends he met his match. Bram closes himself off from pretty much everyone, and if you have read the previous books you know his bestie will have none of that. Devyn and Bram’s banter is amazing and the way Hackett describes Bram is amazing. But Bram has eyes for one woman and one woman only. The beautiful blonde dancer, Adeline. They share an epic couple of weeks together only for Bram to disappear for work.
Addie finds herself alone and pregnant. She never thought she would see Bram again, and their reunion is one for the record books. Addie is filled with so much self doubt, and feels alone in the world. And frightened because she has a stalker. So when Bram and the Sentinel team bring her in she doesn’t know how to react.
Watching grumpy Bram fall head over heels for literally Addie, who he calls Sunshine was amazing. And of course no book in this series is complete without a fair amount of suspense, and as the team works to track down Addie’s stalker. This book was filled with amazing chemistry, superb banter, lots of twists and turns, and an amazing found family that rallies to support Addie and Bram’s growing family. The easter eggs that Hackett placed for readers has me counting down the days until Hex finally gets her HEA. And we meet two new characters that we definitely are going to want more of!
Another amazing book in this series- if you enjoy a found family, grumpy/sunshine, lots of suspense, and fun banter this series is a must read!

Bram aka Excalibur is a former Irish Intelligence specialist and now working with Sentinel. During a previous case he helped to rescue a dancer, Addie. They had an intense relationship but no promises were made on either side due to their history but both thought the relationship had possibilities.

That is until Bram goes on a mission and Addie gets the brush off from a Sentinel employee. But there is an ever-growing wrinkle in her future plans - Bram has left her pregnant!

I was so happy that Bram had finally decided to find Addie himself - he thought he was giving her space when in fact she thought he'd ghosted her. There next meeting is explosive and I loved the way Bram just went with the pregnancy and Addie was the new centre of his world. The way his team dealt with the Sentinel employee was brilliant! Add in the murky stalker that Addie has acquired and Bram is on hyper alert.

Bram and Addie have certainly lost none of their chemistry and the renewal of their relationship is sweet, sexy and intimate without being over the top.

There are cameos from some our fave characters from Sentinel Security and Norcross. There is also a chance to see more from the mysterious Boone and Shade! I loved the way Hellfire banters with both Shade and Bram - they're more like siblings than friends even with her and Bram's friendship being quite new.

I cannot wait to see what happens with Hex!

Still haunted by traumas from the past Bram, Excalibur, O'Donovan has gone through life dragging feelings of guilt that seem to have molded a somewhat...difficult character. Finding Adaline again had filled him with hope and at the same time with fear, but he was not going to allow the past to repeat itself. Alone and without hope, Adaline had suffered a lot. Life had shown her to trust only herself and not depend on others. When the nightmare from the past threatened her safety, Bram, wrestling with his own demons, showed her that she could trust and lean on him. Intense the struggle that each one carried with themselves. Danger lurked at every step and the entire team of friends was involved in the task of protecting Adaline from a horrible fate. One of the things that I like the most about this author is how the intensity and vividness of some of the narrations and descriptions provoke emotions in me that make me feel with the characters and catch me in the action. There have been occasions when my chest has tightened and have misty eyes while reading. I liked Shadow's incursion that had me intrigued since he appeared in previous stories. A lot of action with exciting scenes full of suspense and danger, as well as the deranged villain that could not be missed, the bantering between friends, strong emotions, violence, romance and passion. I voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from BookFunnel.

4 ⭐️ I may have been less forgiving after reading several of these in a row. This one was fine but it definitely wasn’t my favorite of the series. The back story and first few chapters were interesting but then it sort of went the same way they all did and became rather generic.

Bram and Addie met before the book (Bram being with Sentinel Security and Addie being the ballerina who was kidnapped and rescued with Saskia in a Norcross book). They spent 10 magical days together before Bram had to leave for a bit on assignment. When he returned Addie was gone and didn’t bother to contact him so he took the hint.

They run into one another 4.5 months later where Addie is now working at a bar - pregnant with his child. Turns out, she had tried to get in touch with him after all and believed he’d abandoned her. I was really sad for her - she lost everything when she got pregnant, her ballerina gig, her apartment, and she believed she’d been abandoned by the father of her child, whom she loved. I wish the book hadn’t started where it did in the story. I wanted to go back and see their meeting, their relationship development, the struggles and emotions Addie dealt with when she thought she was losing everything. Instead we jump into the moment Bram is back and taking care of everything and picking up where they left off. It weakened what could have been a much deeper story.

Otherwise it was fine and entertaining like all Hackett books!

Irishman Bram O’Donovan is a tough deadly-serious part of the Sentinel Security team. The big guy has taken the fall…over a beautiful little dancer…who he can’t find. Bram went out of the country on assignment and when he returned Adaline (Addie) Harris was gone. They shared ten days of romantic bliss and he wants more with her. Addie is not doing too well. She can’t get in contact with Bram, her lover and surprise, the father of her baby! She’s been to his work and the witch in reception told her Bram "obviously isn’t interested". In her condition, Addie can’t dance anymore so she has no income, and now no place to live.
When Bram finally finds Addie and learns what she went through all hell breaks out in the office. What they find is just too scary. Addie has an admirer, a delusional Russian mobster admirer and he wants HER. All the Sentinel Security team gets involved in keeping Addie and her babies safe. More help arrives from outside and the secretive CIA guy has his eyes on Hex. (I see another love match coming.) This story is full of smart, talented, action heroes and whack-job villains. Addie is a sweet lady who so deserves a hero and Bram is going to do his best to be that man. I love this series and all the team. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Bookfunnel and am happy to share my thoughts. Linda

In Excalibur, Book #5 of the Sentinel Security Series, we meet Bram-an older, "battered" military man and Addie-a young dancer and woman rescued (from a kidnapping) in a previous novel. A brief affair between them leaves her pregnant and seemingly abandoned....A brief affair leaves him wanting more yet heartbroken when she disappears and seemingly ghosts him....But things are not always as they seem and the two of them need to resolve "what happened" between them while dealing with a new threat against Addie. I loved seeing other beloved characters from the previous books in the series-Hex, Killian, Devyn, and many others. It reminded me how much I loved reading the series so far. For some reason, Bram and Addie don't do it for me. It's nothing I can point to because the writing is great, and the story is fun. I think I'm just a junkie for super bossy, smoldering alpha males and their strong willed sassy heroines. Bram seems too focused on resisting his "urges" towards her and Addie is slightly TSTL. Although both their actions make sense in the context of the story, they are not my cup of tea. This is truly just based on my personal character preferences. Otherwise the book is a great segment in the Sentinel Security Series and contains a great teaser for the next book. I can't wait. I received a copy of the book for my honest opinion.

A man walks into a bar, yes I know it sounds like the beginning of a joke but trust me for Bram what he finds is absolutely not funny . Addie the woman he has been searching for is not only working there but very obviously pregnant and not denying that Bram is the father !
This started with a bang and didn't let up on the cuteness of this big tough guy falling so hard for Addie. Bram sees her as sweet but to have survived as a professional dancer she's clearly a lot stronger than she's given credit for and I think this shows in the way she's planning to take care of her baby and herself. Of course its not all plain sailing for the couple as Addie has a stalker but with a private security firm staffed by ex military types at their disposal of course there's a happy ending guaranteed !
These stories are fast paced, sexy and sweet and yet always over too quickly for this reader. I adore the characters as they are larger than life and just such fun . I will admit all the bizarre nicknames they have do sometimes make me want to roll my eyes but I cannot deny if you just want pure escapism that makes you smile then this author always delivers.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Bram and Addie

This was such an exciting read, it picked up right where Steel left off. The suspense started on page one and carried through to the last chapter. I loved the romance between Bram and Addie, it was so effortless after they cleared the air.

I always love the grumpy hero who has a soft spot for his person, and Bram was definitely a broody grump. He was also a big, protective, Irishman. He fell hard for Addie, but they were torn apart when they both thought the other had ghosted them. When they run into each other, Addie isn’t sure she can trust Bram again, and Bram isn’t sure he’s good enough for Addie.

I’m the midst of Bram trying to convince Addie he was trustworthy, her stalker made his move. Bram was determined to keep Addie safe, and she seemed like the most unlucky person, getting kidnapped by the Russians with Saskia in the Norcross series, then being separated from Bram, and now she has a stalker.

I loved this chapter in the Sentinel Security series. Bram and Addie were so sweet together. They both had demons from their pasts and had some baggage to work through, but they made a perfect couple. I loved that the whole Sentinel team was involved and Shade made another appearance. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Hex and Shade!

Bram & Addie spent a very hot time together before he went on a job, but she was never far from his mind. After he got back, he spent his time trying to locate her again with no success, but it was by accident that he found her again one night, and got the surprise of his life. See, Addie is pregnant with his baby, and she's under the impression that he ghosted her, which I could totally see so both of them thought they were ghosted by the other. Of course now that he found her again, he's not going to leave her alone to fend for herself, but there's more, she also has a stalker that she didn't tell him about right away. This poor girl has been through it, and with the escalation of her stalker, she's convinced it's all her fault at the end of the day. Bram is going through his own doubts, so he's trying to keep her at arms length (not meanly mind you), but it doesn't take long before he can't resist her. These two are doing their best to figure out how to move forward together with a baby on the way, but first they have to get rid of the danger to her so the twists are coming in hot all over the place, and now it becomes a race against time to keep her safe! Excalibur was another perfect story from the amazing Anna Hackett that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
