Fran Striker (born Francis Hamilton Striker) (August 19, 1903 – September 4, 1962) was an American writer for radio and comics, best known for creating The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet, and Sgt. Preston of the Yukon
I picked this up at the Strand Bookstore because The Lone Ranger was sort of on the edge of my childhood, though I don't know if I ever saw the TV show or heard a radio broadcast. At any rate, I was pleased to discover that this novel, the second in the series and written in 1935, was not as racist as it might have been expected to be, though The Lone Ranger, and not Tonto, is clearly the star. It is pretty straightforward, good guys and bad guys, damsels in distress, and a clear propensity to handle problems outside the confines of the law.
