Am I really the first person to review this book?
Not good.
Travis and I go way back. Neither of us has aged particularly well. But we're still doing better than Meyer -- which has nothing to do w his starting this book w a heart attack. The sidekick routine has grown stale, and never was, for me, as impressive as MacDonald seemed to think it was.
Notice how dialogue blocks in plays are usually the longest, then in books, where some can go on for two thirds of a page, or more. Then in film scripts, where rarely do characters speak more than a few lines at a time. But if well-written, all can seem natural and convincing.
This book has some very long blocks. I think it would have been a much better film.
