I love to check out knitting books from the library, and this is one of my favorites. It's so beautiful that I check it out over and over just to look at the beautiful patterns. I have made a couple of items from this book, and I treasure them. This designer, Louisa Harding, designs such beautiful items and has published many other books with patterns for both children and adults.
This book contains patterns for accessories, like purses, gloves, hats, and scarves. That sounds like a typical knitting book, but her patterns are so beautiful that the book is extraordinary. She shows the patterns in multiple different yarns and colors, such as showing them with stripes and then solids, to show how the projects can look completely different, and how beautiful it can still be.
I want so much to buy this book for my very own. It's so beautiful and the patterns are amazing.
Half a dozen or so patterns that I liked in this book. I liked three of the purse patterns, ESPECIALLY the one on the front cover. I also liked the cabled tunic and the yellow cardigan.
Well, there are several lovely projects in this book, which is ridiculously overpriced for a paperback. However, the art direction is lovely, and many of the projects are as well. One of the models has "strong eyes" (lots of eye makeup) and virtually nothing on her mouth and I have to say that she looks like a cadaver. This is not the image I want in a knitting book. However, there's a gorgeous fair isle hat and lots of other fine things, and I'm glad I got this one. Look, Kaelie, a knitting book I did *not* give four stars to!
This is a really nice book to look through. The cover is very appealing, and the photographs inside the book are relevant and crystal clear. Very modern page layout, making it completely reader-friendly. Even though I didn't find any patterns that I wanted to knit, there was still an assortment of patterns that I thought were lovely and had a unique design. I would recommend this book.
Another book that has so many beautiful things to knit, with great instructions. I want to make so many things in this book there are a lot of nice hates and scarves and a purse(on the cover) that doesn't even look like its knitted.
A lot of these patterns seemed like they'd only look cool on models. You know, the people who can wear anything and make it look good. Meh. But there were some great accessories that could look great with fairly little effort, especially with the right yarn.
This book is full of adorable projects that look like they might make great gifts. And as cute as they are, they also look fast, which is another plus for gift-knitting.
There are some cute items to knit here, but most are a bit too "girly" or frilly for me. There isn't much to read, either. So overall not a book I'd consider purchasing.
I loved some of the designs in this book and will definitely be trying to reproduce the Victoria fingerless mittens. Beautiful, delicate patterns that really make me feel a bit like a lady of old.
Pretty 'little' projects - mostly hats, gloves, etc. I think a pair of mitts I got as a gift several years ago came from one of these patterns. Fun surprise to know a project!
