informational but had a tendency for romanization

Interesting anecdotes and historical stuff, as well as a pretty good overview of the craftsmanship involved in a lot of stuff I'd never thought to appreciate (whittling, basketmaking, carpet and coverlet design)

Three starts because it's also full of a *lot* of boring, book-report stuff like "these 40 clubs were founded from 1880-1910". These go on for pages. I ended up just skipping them,
