Jason Aaron grew up in a small town in Alabama. His cousin, Gustav Hasford, who wrote the semi-autobiographical novel The Short-Timers, on which the feature film Full Metal Jacket was based, was a large influence on Aaron. Aaron decided he wanted to write comics as a child, and though his father was skeptical when Aaron informed him of this aspiration, his mother took Aaron to drug stores, where he would purchase books from spinner racks, some of which he still owns today.

Aaron's career in comics began in 2001 when he won a Marvel Comics talent search contest with an eight-page Wolverine back-up story script. The story, which was published in Wolverine #175 (June 2002), gave him the opportunity to pitch subsequent ideas to editors.

In 2006, Aaron made a blind submission to DC/Vertigo, who published his first major work, the Vietnam War story The Other Side which was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Miniseries, and which Aaron regards as the "second time" he broke into the industry.

Following this, Vertigo asked him to pitch other ideas, which led to the series Scalped, a creator-owned series set on the fictional Prairie Rose Indian Reservation and published by DC/Vertigo.

In 2007, Aaron wrote Ripclaw: Pilot Season for Top Cow Productions. Later that year, Marvel editor Axel Alonso, who was impressed by The Other Side and Scalped, hired Aaron to write issues of Wolverine, Black Panther and eventually, an extended run on Ghost Rider that began in April 2008. His continued work on Black Panther also included a tie-in to the company-wide crossover storyline along with a "Secret Invasion" with David Lapham in 2009.

In January 2008, he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel, though it would not affect his work on Scalped. Later that July, he wrote the Penguin issue of The Joker's Asylum.

After a 4-issue stint on Wolverine in 2007, Aaron returned to the character with the ongoing series Wolverine: Weapon X, launched to coincide with the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Aaron commented, "With Wolverine: Weapon X we'll be trying to mix things up like that from arc to arc, so the first arc is a typical sort of black ops story but the second arc will jump right into the middle of a completely different genre," In 2010, the series was relaunched once again as simply Wolverine. He followed this with his current run on Thor: God of Thunder.

Thor Odinson brings most of the ladies on his list of possible new Thor's to aid the new Thor against the Destroyer.
description

Only one major thing happens in this volume and that is the unveiling of the new Thor. I had heard who it was already so it was anticlimactic for me. This issue was just ok, not enough happened in it.

I've loved the new Thor arc so far, but how this was finished was not really what I was expecting. After all that build up to the mystery of who new Thor is, it felt like the final reveal was a bit too self-referential.

We find out who Thor is in this comic, and let's just note -- it is perfect, it is amazing, it is foreshadowed but still feels a bit like a surprise, and basically I'm just gnashing my teeth with joy over here. I hope that this Thor maintains her prominence and awesomeness in the upcoming Thors series, because I love her to bits -- and her "real" ego as well.

Holy freakout. I cannot wait to see where they take this. The big reveal took me completely by surprise. I am thrilled about who Thor is. Won't say anything else because ... spoilers. The more this picks up steam, the more I think i want to read 1-25 and see what else Jason Aaron has done.

In this issue the mystery of author's identity is finally solved!

Before that however we have quite the epic battle between the Destroyer and a whole host of awesome female superheroes. Many of which will no doubt be familiar to readers.

In his efforts to get the hammer back Odin has made himself and enemy not just with his son but with his own wife as well. Finally he calls off the attack but the damage has already been done.

Odinson, the previous Thor, thinks he has solved the mystery of who this new Thor is only to have his theory quickly proved false.

At the closing panels of this issue we see Thor's power fall away leaving us with a large poignant image revealing who Thor really is. It is a powerful moment and a great reveal. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series!

Best Issue of this amazing series. Thank you Jason Aaron, BIG THANK YOU for giving us this incredible ending. I do really hope we can get another solo title when all this battleworld and secret wars craziness pass.
We know who Thor is, and the reveal was every bit as satisfying as I expected it to be, I had my predictions and I'm pretty pleased with myself because I got it right (yay me!).
I was tearing up during the whole issue, from start to finish.
She is so brave, and she is SO WORTHY

I started this on June 19th and here I am now finishing it

Very cool cover, builds the anticipation for the reveal

"at her funeral, I swore to myself I would never again be helpless to save someone I loved. That was the moment I knew... exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up."

Very cool battle, wanda!!!!! nat!!!!!

So whoever controls the destroyer like cul here, his eyes get paralyzed, him, we found out through comedic relief

Jess being gay lolz

"Damn you, woman. Damn near for making me the villain." Is she the one at fault though, Odin?

"You want my advice? Lose the hammer. And the sidekick.
sidekick?! both are bound to bring you naught but trouble.
Perhaps trouble is what she's after, lady sif. In which case Brunnhilde the Valkyrie says... raise hel, goddess of thunder. And let the rest be damned." I ADORE THIS PANEL, layout material😍

"The BIfrost will now take us home. To face the fate we have made for ourselves this day. But remember, my lady, that you stand for more than yourself now. And you need never again stand alone. The eyes of asgard shall be ever upon thee, thor. For better or worse."

Ah thor had me there for a second, I was like "why would they make solomon Thor?!" We didn't get to find out what fury told Thor though? What was the whisper?!?

"You colossal half-wit" LMFAO what an insult

"I don't like having to sneak and hide. It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong. But all I'm doing is what I swore it would do... [ ...] I hide because I won't be stopped."

"The world needs a Thor. That's all that's really matters. we need a god who understands what it means to be humbled. To be mortal. A god who knows how precious life is. How delicate. And god who struggles every day to live a worthy life. Who suffers so that no one else will have to. A god who loves the earth enough to die for it." That is so emotionally charged, such strong monologue, she's a very strong person, such inhumanly emotionally strength to persevere in her morals
And it's Jane as I had guessed

I appreciate the light the shed on cancer and how heroic those who suffer because of it are
And I believe it was well done

Ah the feminine hand wielding the hammer above the letterbox gave me chills
A 3.5 experience for me as a singular issue, the run in its entirety was good, authentic

4/5 Stars.

And the BIG REVEAL is here. And not so big..
I will say that I had many theories on who Lady Thor could be. I'm a little disappointed with the route that Marvel took here....

And only 8 issues?! I know the Universe is expanding but we can only give the female lead 8 issues of her own? I understand we will be seeing her in other series but I doubt I'll be following those as closely as I did this arc.

All the women of Marvel pull together and stand behind Thor. Where the all-father and all-mother sit after this is up in the air. We finally get to find out who is under the helm, and it feels like it should have been obvious once we do, but it wasn't.
