In a world where artificial intelligence has replaced infrastructure, we catch a glimpse of what it takes to survive. Rural England now has a climate akin to the Mediterranean. Although fruit and vegetables flourish under the constant sunshine humanity is wilting. In an effort to preserve some sense of normality, Alan Turnpike is using his retirement years to cultivate food for his neighbours and family. He is conflicted by the godlike status afforded to the artificial neural network as it infiltrates every facet of his life. He struggles to cling on to the ever-diminishing rights granted to the remaining humans in his community. His focus is concentrated on survival and legacy. When confronted by his own grandson's rebellion, he is forced to make an agonising will he conform to the calculated rule of the machines or will he make a stand? Part one of a trilogy, this science fiction novella takes you on a journey through a dystopian landscape set within our current society. It explores the impact of leaking classified information for the 'greater good' and the ultimate responsibility that is placed upon parental figures to protect their families. "A pair of mighty white silicone wings beat the air like a kestrel searching for its prey. Most of its 'body' was covered by a white linen gown, its arms still showed the complex mosaic of technology moulded into what was attempting to be an anthropomorphic form. Alan stared into its 'face' and tried to hold back a shudder of fear..."The second part of this intense trilogy is expected in early 2020.
Originally from Kent, England I moved to Scotland in 2012 to pursue a new life... and a new career.
I have been writing fiction for as long as I can remember, I'm sure I have several dozens of floppy disks floating around with unfinished prose on them!
As of November 2018, I left full-time office work (customer service and complaint management) to focus on my professional writing.
With internet users being so hungry for new content I have found it a joy and a challenge to present my writing in a way that's accessible to everyone.
Amazon has been a great platform to work with, and there are more publications in the pipeline for 2022.
