Chill has always been different, but the way he deals with his disability and his art have given him the power to survive the horrors of high school. When a new teacher arrives, determined to crush his students' spirit, Chill decides to fight back and risk everything. A story of doing the right thing and standing up for yourself—and your friends.
In the book ‘Chill’ by Colin Frizzell, the main character, Chill, is an outspoken student who loves art. Chill and his friend Sean, who is the narrator of the book, did lots of things together. They were classmates and shared their passions in life and hung out a lot after school. In class, Chill shared his dreams with his classmates and his teacher about wanting to become an artist, but his teacher, Mr. Sfinkter, shot him down. Every teacher and adult in the school thinks that Mr. Sfinkter was a great and inspiring teacher, but kids in his class thought different. Mr. Sfinkter was nasty, rude, and not supportive which is the opposite of how a teacher should act. Mr. Sfinkter told Chill that he wouldn’t become an artist and that he wasn’t good enough.
After being shut down by an adult that said he would never be good enough to be an artist, there was an art show at the school for all the students to showcase their talents. Chill didn’t just submit a nice painting that he had been working on, he does something a little different. How does Chill showcase his art? How does Chill prove that some adults in his school are rude and not truthful? Pick up the book ‘Chill’ by colin Frizzell to find out how one student displays his artistic talents and shows how one teacher truly is.
this book is absically about a kid named chill. he has a bad leg and a talent. that talent is art. he is really good at art. he knows how to draw really well and he is basically good at every concept of art. so their is a new teacher at school. his name is mr. sfinkter. and he doesnt like chill. he thiks that he is just some punk kid who doesn't know how to do anyting. so what he does is he picks on him. and he gets under his skin. so what chill does is he takes his rage on the teacher and reflects it in his art. so the art teacher assighnes a project to chill. she says you can make a mural that will welcome kids into the new school. so what chill does is he makes mr.sfinkter on his mural. mr. sfinkter is stepping on two kids and the rest are in agony. the caption is you can shine and soar to the light is you get past the darkness. and chill implied that mr. sfinkter is the darkness. i can connect to this book because i have had a teacher just like that. in 3rd grade i had a science teacher who was really tough on the rest of the class. if you spoke up once he would call your parents. he would make you stay after school if you did one thing wrong. and if some one accused you of doing something wrong he would call both of the kids parents and say that you were disrupting the class. now i didn't do something as bad tpo get back as chill did, but i had my share of revenge. i would do things like tell others about him and what he did. and he would get mad. but what chill did got mr. sfinkter furious. i would rate this book 4 stars because i thought that it was really good how the teacher did al of thpose mean things t chill. i really liked how chill got back in public. i ould reccomend tis book to people who like reading books about school and its real life affects.
Loved this book! Fabulous characters! Chill is so cool, even though he's got a lame leg, and his reputation is constantly being enhanced by his best friend, Sean, who is the story-teller...and a very good one. While Sean falls under the spell of a grade 10 English teacher who promises to help him become an author, Chill hates the teacher for the bully he is. Excellent
I loved this book a lot! My favorite part was when Chill dropped the curtain and revealed the mural to everyone at the school. The theme of this book is that you can always take things too far. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Well written great story of going through everything you can to get through life and be inspired and to inspire along the way and go after who you want to be love the characters in the story especially Chill
The book chill is about a boy who has a disability but that does not stop him because chill has incredible talents but people just try to take it away form him. Chill's foot just drags behind and he cannot help it and some kids just don't care if they hurt people feeling they just want to act tough. Chill hates these people and will stand up to them and will not take anything from them. Chill's talent is art and he is very good at art. He's knows he's good at art and mostly all concepts of art that's just his talent. When chill is at school there is a teacher named Mr. Sfinkter and he does not like chill at all so he try's to get under his skin but chill doesn't fall into his trap. Chill just takes his anger and puts it into his art and reflects on it. There is another teacher chill likes and the teacher thinks chill has some amazing skill. The teacher thinks he should really try to extend his goal in art and master the passion so he can go places. Chill really like this teacher but the other try's to make chill feel like he's trash but is the total opposite of that meaning. This was a great book and it showed lots and how people that are different can still be amazing. I really liked this book because it showed how the kid chill has passion even though he was different. Chill had lots of bully's but he would stand up to them and that's what all people should do. I think the main lesson of this book is its okay to be different because different can be turned into amazing. By: Griffin Bell

It's the sophomore year of high school, and best friends Chill and Sean will soon meet their new English teacher, Mr. Sfinkter, a man who loves to brag about his accomplishments as a published writer and who also seems to enjoy humiliating his students.
Sean, who wants to be a writer, doesn't think that the teacher is really that bad, especially after Mr. Sfinkter encouraged him to write a book, and promised him that he would help him get it published. But Chill, who gets picked on by Mr. Sfinkter all the time, knows that he's not a good teacher and is probably even far from being a good person. Chill tries to ignore him and dedicates most of his time to working on a mural he's painting for the school. But one day, Mr. Sfinkter crosses the line and makes fun of Chill's bum leg.
Bad move. Everyone in school knows that nobody messes with Chill.
With big type and 98 pages, this entertaining novel is perfect for those who don't like lengthy novels. Frizzell mixes the right ingredients to please middle school boys: a mean and abusive teacher, unfairly treated students, clueless school staff, and the cool kids out to teaching a grown up a lesson.
Chill is a teenager who an amazing artist. His moral is to be himself and not someone else. He is a relatively calm person and it takes very little to get under his skin. Once in elementary school there was a new kid who picked on him because of his leg to see if he could make friends. That only ended him up in the hospital with a broken leg. Now in high school he is well respected and never taken lightly. But there is a new teacher, who has two different personalities. One is to the teachers; he is kind, charming and sweet. When in reality he is dream crusher who humiliates kids and makes them feel like they are worthless trash. Will he get under Chill's skin? And what will chill do next?
This reminds me of a show called Bleach. The main character believes that his friends are important, they are worth dying for. He believes they all have something their good at and is amazing in their own way. This reminds me of chill because he believes this about everyone he meets. He is always looking out for his friends.
I give this book 5 stars because I loved the conflict. The suspense was very intriguing and it was very dramatic. Each character had a very significant impact on the story.
The book I read was Chill and it was written by Colin Frizzel. It was published by Orca Book in 2006. My opinion of this book is good because I can imagine what is going on. It was a non-fiction book so the setting was current day and at a High School. The main characters were Chill and Sean. The story began with the Author tellings us about Chill's bad leg. The conflict was a teacher bullying his students. I did not like how the conflict was resolved because Chill and Sean got in trouble for standing up for themselves. My favorite part of the story was I didnt really have a favorite part. A powerful quote was. "who's Hoppy now?" It was important because it showed even thought Chill had a bad leg he could still defend himself. I think the theme that the author is trying to get across to his readers is dont let some bully you and say you can't do something, because the story talks a lot about presuing your dreams. This book reminds me of a movie that I have seen because, a guy put down a kid becaue he feels he couldnt be a writer. I gave this book 3 star's because it some interesting things in it. I recommend this book because it can be motivational to some people.
This book is about a guy name Chill who is an amazing artist and likes to paint a lot. He is a very calm guy and has a great heart. He was suggested by his teacher that he should paint the school mural. But once he gets to High school his new English teacher,Mr. Sfinkter, is very mean and likes to humiliate his students. Then one day the new teacher makes fun of Chill's disability. At last Chill decided to stand up for himself and not let anybody ruin his future just because of his disability with his leg.
This book can connect to the world, because there is a lot of people with disabilities that have many talents. I know some people that are even more talented than someone who does not have any disability. Many people think they are not capable of doing great things but they never give up and try their best.
I rated this book 5 stars. It was intriguing and fun to read. Also because I love art. I would recomend this book to anybody.
I thought this book was a great book because there was alot going on in the book theres a new kid named wanye and he when up to the maiun character chill and just tried to push him down because he wanted ppl to think that he was cool so he can get friends but that dint work everyone just looked at him and went to go play again and what ever they were doing before at the middle the teachers in his school asked to paint a mural on the school wall so he did and he made a weird looking person that is at the cover of the book and he did finsih. The next day the childrens parents and the kids looked at the mural the but the princal scene there was somthing differnt so he called chill to his office and asked wat did you do to the mural and he said yes i broke in and changed some stuff chill was suspended for the rest of the year and thats what happended and thats what i think about that book
Chill by Colin Frizzell is about a boy named Chill . Chill is a talented artist, so talented that his art teacher asked him if he would paint the school mural. Chill and his other classmates get a new english teacher at their school who likes to humiliate his students as well as crush their dreams. All the other teachers think, Mr. Sfinkter, the new english teacher is a very good man and they don’t believe that he would do such a thing as humiliate his students. Chill plans on exposing Mr. Sfinkter to the whole school. I really liked this book, it wasn’t long at all and there was a lot that went on in it. I believe people who don’t really like reading, can’t really focus while reading a long book, or who like to read books with a lot going on would be interested in this book.
Another good offering from Orca for readers who want a book that isn't too long or too wordy. The cover caught my eye, and I thought I might find a gritty, street-level story hinging on graffiti art. Instead, Frizzell recounts a friendship between two boys: the narrator Sean is typical, his best friend Chill is exceptional. The action builds as both pursue their creative dreams - as a writer and as an artist, respectfully - while contending with a petty teacher.
The opening is strong, the conflict is a bit too melodramatic. A solid read for artists, aspiring writers, guys with a best friend, or any one suffering under an evil English teacher.
This book is about a kid name Chill. He like to draw his teacher sugessted to him that maybe he could do a moral on the school's wall. His new English teacher is very mean and likes to put down pepole. Chill doesn't like that the teacher is doing that to his students. So Chill wants payback and his mother works at the news so he called in saying that a guy that look just like his teacher. flashed so students. But his friend Sean knew it was him. The book is good makes fun of teachers. Someone almost gets killed in this book. AHHH!!!
Best friends Chill & Sean must choose how far they will go to expose a teacher at their school. Will it tear apart their friendship or bring them closer together?
Honestly, my first reaction to this book was a bit on the defensive side since I'm a teacher (lol), but I think this would be exactly the kind of book some of my reluctant readers would enjoy. Under 100 pages, fairly easy reading level, talented students versus the crooked teacher...good stuff. If I could give it a 3.5 stars, I would.
So this book "chill" was basically about a talented boy that had a limp leg. Honestly to me the book had no point to it. As I was reading the whole time I was think "whats the point to this book" "wheres the point" "wheres the book leading to." So i disliked how the book didn't really have a point. However I did like that it went in sequence order of a time of someones life and what was happening/ going on. I would recommend this book to someone with a stronger thinking knowledge that would actually understand the point of the book.
This book is about a guy name Chill who likes to paint a lot. And he was suggested by his teacher that he should paint the school mural. But his new English teacher,Mr. Sfinkter, is very mean and likes to humiliate his students. And then one day the new teacher makes fun of Chill's disability. At last Chill decided to stand up for himself and give the teacher a lesson. I think this book it pretty good and again, people who enjoy reading short story should read this book.
Chill is not the average boy at school, he loves art. When asked to paint a mural at the school, Chill accept, but durring all this there is lots of suspicion going around. One of the new Teachers, is convicted of being a sex offender, and chill's painting is used to decribe him. Lets just see what Chill is in for this time. I can make a text t o
The book is a great novel about this guy named Chill who is a talented artist and he was suppose to paint the school mural. Instead of the original design he chose to draw something different and the result was unbelievable!
I liked this one. Again, the Orca Soundings series seems to be a good fit for many students. This one is about an artist and a writer, one excellent teacher and one monstrous teacher. The plot is engaging and our heroes are full of qualities to admire.
"Chill and Sean are high school students who run into a situation with a teacher. Chill has only let his bum leg get him into trouble one time. But when a teacher picks on not only him but also his classmates, what will he do?"
I realy liked this one. I have a fondness for books about disabled kids/teens. This book handled the hard issue with simple terms and does not push. I wish it was longer but what can you do? Try it out. It does not cost much on a Nook so I suggest purchasing on that if you have one.
This book “Chill” was about a teenage boy who’s name was Chill. I thought this was pretty interesting. I liked reading it because it seemed to have interesting events going on. Chill was one of those laid back students in school and I can see students in my school just like him. That’s why I could connect with him and understand him, because I’ve seen students go through the teasing and all that due to his disability. Chill is one of those types that if you make him mad he will respond back and be a bit meaner than you were to him. He was a boy to not mess with. Chill had a talent and it was art. He loved drawing due to what was going on in his life. I loved how Chill stood up for himself and not listen to other people's opinion about him. Chill’s new English teacher Mr. Sfinkter was a really mean and humiliating teacher. He loved putting down his students that wouldn’t do anything to him just. Chill has a very great heart and tried helping his friend Sean. Sean had was really into writing and he had wrote a book and Mr. Sfinkter literally put down his dream. Sean had thrown away the book he wrote and lost all illusions. Chill picked up the book and read it and told Sean it was great and not to listen to the mean teacher. I recommend you to read this book because it will keep you interested and also if you like art you will find it worth reading. I found this a good book because some people with disabilities actually have talent and they shouldn’t be put down by anyone, they should just be able to show off their talent and let them shine.
