About the author

Priscilla Shirer is a wife and a mom first. But put a Bible in her hand and a message in her heart and you’ll see why thousands flock to her conferences and dive into her Bible study series’ and books each year.

A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Priscilla holds a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies and considers it a privilege to serve believers from every denomination and culture by helping them to know the truths of Scripture intellectually and encouraging them to experience these truths practically by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In addition to Priscilla’s participation in many church and para-church conferences across the globe each year, Going Beyond Ministries hosts AWAKEN – an outreach event in their hometown designed to encourage and mobilize women locally. Her latest offering is a 365-day devotional called Awaken: 90 Days with the God Who Speaks. In 2016, Priscilla ventured into the world of children’s publishing with The Prince Warriors, a fiction 4-book series and accompanying 365-day devotional (Unseen) designed to equip tween boys and girls for victory in spiritual warfare.

Priscilla has been married to Jerry for 20 years. Between studying and writing, she spends most of her time cleaning up after (and trying to satisfy the appetites of) their three growing boys – Jackson, Jerry Jr. and Jude.

A very good read that helps you reflect on your relationship with Christ. The question asked throughout is when you encounter God are you changed? I like Priscilla Shirer and enjoyed this book.

It’s really not about religion. It’s about relationship. Turmoil is either God sent or God allowed. There are two reasons for this. Either God is using these times to draw us closer to Him or bringing us into a deeper relationship with Him.

As always, I appreciated Priscilla's book. But I did not feel it was quite up to the level of some of her other books. Where some of her other ones have me hanging by a thread to read more and implementing many changes in my life. This one more felt like a generally interesting read that occasionally had me thinking. It is a detailed look at the lives of Naomi and Ruth and how God impacted Ruth's story and then through that Ruths story impacted the world. It also digs a little deeper into the lives of Mary, Martha and Lazarus as well.

I did wonder if part of the problem was that the narrator of this particular audiobook was not very engaging, so I may have a different opinion if I ever go back and read the book myself. Myself.

But I would still recommend it because I recommend all of Priscilla's books.

This was a good thought provoking book that makes you evaluate your life to see how you have changed once you became a Christian. Also, if you have been touched by God how your life should really change. Also delved a little into fasting and us standing firm on the foundation of God. Build your life upon Him. You may not see it in your time but your life’s work can reap the harvest for later generations. Like how this book ends with Ruth and how her sacrifice and dedication led to the life of David and further down our savior Jesus.

Change. Who doesn't ? Everyone who wants Jesus more and more in their lives want to change to become true bearers of his image. But are we ? Are we all thoughts and talk but no action ? We can go on reading and agreeing but when the crunch times appear, are we willing to go through them to indeed be changed ? There's a difference between knowing there is a need to change and truly surrending control to God to allow for the change. Can we say "And we are changed" with confident if someone ask us this question? Our hearts and God already know the answer to that.

There should be two rows of stars. One for how good a book may be and one for how well it appealed to me. Or not. My mom gave me this book for Christmas. She was no doubt drawn to it because its author is the daughter of Tony Evans, a preacher and author that my mom appreciates. This book, however, did not speak to me. I think, perhaps, it might speak to younger women.

This book is deep, and demands us to examine ourselves and be transformed, and willing to be used by God for His purpose. It forced me to dig deep into my motivations for ministry and prune away anything and anyone that got in the way of His plans for my life. Thank You Priscilla Shirer for this. This book makes some good points. It is a collection of anecdotes, stories, and thoughts that relate tangentially to the Biblical story of Ruth. In many ways. each chapter could be considered a sermon. After reading it, I would like to do more research into the story of Ruth.
