A good reference book and now I've heard things once, so when I run into them again, I'll be a little more familiar with them. Got some good information, but a lot was technical and outdated too.

Even with the most recent edition, the information contained within is already outdated. Way too much of the book is dedicated to post-processing; the first 30 pages were the only ones I found to be of any value or relevant to shooting images at all, and even then, it wasn't about how to make a good photograph in camera, but just about what the technology "currently" does. The 5th edition was listed as required reading for the PPA Certified Professional Photographer program--I see now why it was removed from the reading list.

Other than that there is information on equipment etc and it is well written.
For someone who is a beginner in photography, this book is a must-have!

Kind of superficial summary of digital photography and editing principles. I would have liked more material on operating manual focus on dSLR lenses, as well as more sample photos.
