Birbal The Witty

Rate this book
Birbal, a real person with the name 'Maheshdas', was one of the 'nine gems' of court advisers of Akbar the Great. He also composed poetry by the pen name 'Brahma'. He led an expedition into faraway Afghanistan and managed to subdue the turbulence there. Hearing the news of his death there, Akbar burst "Birbal, you always gave the helpless whatever you had. I am helpless now and yet you have left nothng for me!" Birbal's name however does not rest on these achievements. He is turned into a legend by the innumerable stories of his wit and wisdom, sense of justice and fairplay, and above all, his uncanny skill in turning the tables on his detractors including the king himself.

Another fantastic Birbal comic! There is much to learn here; the motivation of people is funny yet sadly predictable. I really do think that one of the ways to learn about ethics is by telling stories that give examples of what happens when individuals decide that they are going to make the wrong choice. It is (almost) a lost art.

Almost all books of Anant Pai are fantastic. Gives you quick overview of the characters and personality on which book is written. Birbal is everyone's favorite person . Loved this book.

I have always loved Birbal as a character. Reading about his funny antics in Akbar's court always brings a smile to my face.

Revisiting Amar Chitra Katha books after ages and I have to say, these stories never lose their charm.

Witty indeed!

This collection of short stories becomes too predictable for today's times as you read on. Still, a good one time read.

Birbal Akbar

Book is good but had very less stories. As there are countless stories of akbar and Birbal. Pictorial representation is good

Good read

Must read book for children and adults alike. Who doesn't like a Akbar-Birbal story? I guess a madman! Overall, a good book.
